The Second International Christian Theatre Festival “Misteria” opened in Moscow today.

It shall run from 18 to 24 February. “The purpose of the festival is to revive Church theatre. More than 20 theatres with stage productions from world classics and modern drama will arrive in Moscow from all parts of Russia and abroad”, the organisers told Interfax-Religion. “Our festival, just as one sees in the theatre in general, is interconfessional. Its participants will include theatres from Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant, and other Churches”, a spokesman said. The festival will be held under the auspices of the government of Moscow, the Russian Union of Theatre Professionals, and the Union of Christian Theatre Professionals.
