Requiescat in Pace, Vladyki Laurus. music by Lienas. performed by the Boston Camerata.

Images of the funeral of Metropolitan Laurus Skurla are matched with the Lamentatio of Don Juan de Lienas (17th century Spanish).
There are those who oppose such a juxtaposition or the use of Latin by Orthodox Christians… I say, this is an artistic work in honour of Vladyki, it is not meant to be used in Church, so, I have freedom to create, so long as I stay within the bounds of good taste.
I stood in the presence of sanctity last Friday. I have never experienced the like before, nor shall I again, I believe. May I keep this memory fresh to the end of my days.
Pray for us sinners, O Holy Father Laurus!
Thank you, Maxime, for reminding me of the correct Latin spelling.

  1. Thank you Varvara!

I, the sinner, was there too. We suffered a great loss, but we have another intercessor in heaven – and an example to follow forever.

  2. Thank you for sharing images from Met. Laurus’ funeral.

Yes, I agree with Hieromonk Alesander, we have another intercessor in heaven– an intercessor who loved Christ’s Church and who understands the trials and obstacles that the Church faces.
