An Easter Postcard by the late Archimandrite Kyprian Pizhov of Jordanville
KHRISTOS VOSKRESE! VOISTINNU VOSKRESE!
CHRIST IS RIESEN! INDEED, HE IS RISEN!
Yes, I am a tad early, but, we must leave presently to go to the monastery at Jordanville for Easter services. The most joyous day of the Christian year is upon us! I embrace and kiss all of you. To my Orthodox friends, come into the joy of our Lord’s resurrection. To my non-Orthodox friends, come in anyway, you are welcome, the table is set bounteously, come, come, don’t be afraid! There is always room at table for one more.
When we greet Easter next year, may we see the family circle of Russian Orthodoxy mended. Your place is empty and is wanting your presence. Why won’t you come in out of the cold?
CHRIST IS RISEN AND THE DEMONS AE FALLEN.
CHRIST IS RISEN AND THE ANGELS REJOICE.
May God bless. Bog blagoslovit.

Eve of the Holy Easter

ХРИСТОС ВОСКРЕСЕ!! ВО ИСТИНУ ВОСКРЕСЕ!!! I shouldn’t say this, on this glorious Feast of feasts, but I do envy you being able to spend it at Jordanville. I’ve never been able to go for Pascha (I’m usually at the Summer School of Liturgical Music, though). If you have time to let me know — was there a pannykhida on Friday for Vladyka Metropolit? I’m not sure how this kind of thing works during Holy Week, never having seen it.
