Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the ROCOR
I was surfing the web this morning to see if there was any further news on Metropolitan Hilarion. Nothing major to report, kids. However, there was a post by a miffed PhD. They were upset that Vladyki said “Old Slavonic” instead of “Church Slavonic”. To be frank, that is only an indication that Vladyki is not a scholar.

There has been enough mischief done in the Church over the past 40 years by such sorts, and it is reassuring to know that Vladyki is not one of that number. As my Nicky said, “Good! An ordinary guy with no crapola!” Yes, that is PRECISELY what the Church needs now, “An ordinary guy with no crapola”. Yes, indeed, Vladyki shows us that he knows how to “bishop”, and that is good enough, thank you very much!
May God keep Vladyki for many years. We need such a leader with good-sense and pragmatism at the helm. As for the scholars… best left unsaid.

You are absolutely right: there is no need so so called “intellectuals” in this vocation right now; we need a spiritual leader, not a learned scholar.
