SPC to Ring Bells and Hold Special Services Thursday

On Thursday, the bells will be rung in all Serbian Orthodox (SPC) parishes, when the ICJ announces its ruling on the status of Kosovo. Special prayer services, known as moliebens, will follow the 5-minute ringing of the bells in all churches, beginning at 17.00 CET (19.00 MSK 16.00 UTC 11.00 EDT 08.00 PDT) on Thursday. The top UN court is set to announce an unbinding advisory opinion on the Kosovo Albanian unilateral declaration of independence at 15.00 CET (18.00 MSK 14.00 UTC 09.00 EDT 06.00 PDT) the same day. Those who take part in these moliebens, which are usually served at times of national crises, will pray for a favourable outcome of the Kosovo status case. Patriarch Irinej Gavrilović signed the statement from the SPC [authorising the services].
