Haters Oppose Mosque In Tennessee… Here’s What We Say!

Patriarch Aleksei Rediger of Moscow and all the Russias (1929-2008) greeting Mufti Talgat Safich Tadzhuddin (1948- ), Supreme Mufti of Russia, holder of the Order of St Daniel (2nd Class) of the MP (the first mufti to hold an MP order).

Read it? Good! Firstly, look at this:

Now, read the following:

A sensible system of cooperation between our two faiths would help preserve each one’s unique nature. Moreover, the development of the right forms of inter-religious dialogue would effectively undercut the efforts of those who are out to create a syncretistic “super religion”.

We’ve avoided intense conflict with Islam because we have common ground for a conversation, a general concern shared by all faithful Muslims and Christians. We are building a dialogue with Islam, but not, as some believe, to create some common religion, syncretism, and so on. Please God, we were born Orthodox, and we should and must act like Orthodox. Otherwise, instead of the Church of God, we create a Church of Satan. [We should] be loyal to our faith, but we must develop our faith, and, then, our voice will be understood by honest and pious people of other religions.

His Holiness Kirill Gundyaev

Patriarch of Moscow and all the Russias

Tell them all to go to Syria and the Jordan and see how Orthodox and Muslims live in peace and have done for 1,300 years. Historically, it was the crusaders who were astonished when they got to the Holy Land in the 12th century and saw this. There was no need for strife among the locals, so there was not any. That’s real ecumenism… living side by side without interfering. Why all this Protestant busybodying? Just because Bush was a Methodist…

Now, it’s very easy to turn our grief at Fr Daniil’s death into a senseless hatred of Islam. Hatred is a feeling foreign to the Christian faith. “’Forgive them, Father’, the Lord said of his tormenters, but, for us, human nature tends to more often say, ‘we won’t forget and we won’t forgive’”. All right, in this case, we must overcome human nature. This does not mean that the police should not search for the murderer. This does not mean that the murderer and sponsors of the crime (for, logically, someone sponsored it) should not be punished under the law. Nevertheless, one thing is beyond the pale… the hysterical cries about every Muslim being to blame (like they’re all guilty). Yes, the so-called “Islamic trail” exists… it may be the most probable scenario; it isn’t the only version of the crime. You can’t expand the guilt of one person, or of a small faction, to extend to all Muslims. I’m not saying that we should mince about spouting mealy-mouthed political correctness… we needn’t bow and scrape before Muslims, and we Christians don’t need to make any doctrinal compromises with them! However, we should show a truly Christian attitude toward people. Instead of raising a “witch-hunt” (including a “virtual” one), let’s just pray for the murdered Servant of God the Priest Daniil and his family. The Lord will deal with the dregs.

We believe that the murder of even only one person is the same as if you murdered all of mankind. We oppose all forms of terrorism and extremism; Islam condemns terrorism in the most absolute terms…

Patriarch Aleksei was an outstanding Christian figure who played a significant role in the normalisation and spiritual reunification of the entire Russian Orthodox Church. His long-standing and relentless activity in the name of peace and fraternal love between the many nationalities of Great Russia won him respect from many who were not members of his flock, including many Russian Muslims. His devout service to God and the people in his every action won this respect…

Metropolitan Laurus shall go into history as a great leader of the ROCOR, for he restored the unity of its flock with the Russian Orthodox Church. Metropolitan Laurus did much for the unity of Orthodox believers, and all people, including the followers of Islam, shall remember him as a constructive and creative figure.

In my opinion, the soldier [Yevgeni] Rodionov, who was killed by bandits for his refusal to betray his faith, is a hero, and those who killed him are abominable scoundrels.

Tell it to the… Russian Army Chaplains! Tell these guys how you hate Muslims and oppose building mosques… take a GOOD LOOK… the Orthodox priests and Muslim imams are standing together. Betcha they’d stand up for one another too! THIS is what the Church teaches… not the hatred advocated by the Tea Party.

______________________________

I’m not going to say much… the @#$%&* Tea Party supports this kind of nonsense. If you are an Orthodox Christian, and you vote for a Tea Party affiliated candidate this November, you place yourself out of step with the Church.

Take a look at this report on who benefits from the Afghan War… a war that is sold on the basis of the anti-Muslim hatred one sees in the article about the bigots who oppose the mosque in Tennessee:

You can have Christ’s Church or you can have an ersatz simulation… you can follow Paffhausen and his HOOMie pals or you can follow Patriarch Kirill and the REAL Church. I choose the latter. As for you, choose well, that’s all I’ll say…

Action “Living Light of Memory” Began In Tskhinvali and Moscow

“Nothing is forgotten…”

______________________________

Today, Russia and South Ossetia commemorated the victims of the Georgian aggression in August 2008, and celebrated the successful conclusion of the enforcement operation, which gained the unofficial name of “The Five Day War” in the region. On Sunday night, in Moscow and Tskhinvali, there shall be memorial events marking the second anniversary of the Georgian invasion. In Moscow, at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Orthodox clergy will serve a Pannikhida for the souls of those who fell in the defence of Tskhinvali.

Two years ago, on the night of 7/8 August 2008, Georgia launched military action against South Ossetia with a massive attack on Tskhinvali. The Georgian forces shelled the city, using all kinds of weapons, including Grad Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, targeting hospitals, ordinary houses, and churches, despite the fact that unarmed civilians were taking shelter there. Georgians even sniped at the convoys of refugees attempting to flee the war zone.

“No one is forgotten…”

On 8 August, Russia sent troops to protect the residents in the region, most of whom are Russian citizens, and to relieve the Russian peacekeeping force in the area, and ships of the Black Sea Fleet operated off the Abkhazian coast. On the first day of the war, Russian troops weren’t involved in intense combat, except for a few skirmishes, with firing at medium and long distances. The key event of the second day of the war, 9 August, was the first attempt by Russian troops to take Tskhinvali, with shelling accompanying the assault. The next day, Russia deployed troops along mountain roads, and, on 11 August, Russian troops counter-attacked. By 12 August, the Georgian aggressors were thrown out of South Ossetia, and they fled in disorder to Tbilisi.

If you support the Tea Party… THIS is what you support. Sarah Palin supported this in ’08… she supports it NOW. Take a GOOD look… it’s what America does throughout the world… it’s no wonder that we’re hated. THIS is why the Tea Party is irredeemably evil and why no Orthodox Christian should support it.

The Georgian aggression of August 2008 was a serious blow to the economy of South Ossetia, it largely destroyed the infrastructure, and many were left homeless. More than 2,500 residential buildings, as well as 29 schools, 17 clinics, and 10 transport facilities were destroyed. During the five-day war, 67 Russian soldiers were killed and about 250 were wounded. South Ossetia lost about 90 soldiers and militiamen. According to official figures, the losses of the Georgian army in total were 170 killed and missing servicemen, with 1,964 wounded, according to ITAR-TASS.

Editor’s Note:

Here’s an interesting little aside, in Russian, the word for “Governor” is “Губернатор”, which is transliterated “Gubernator”… I kid you not and cross myself. Did a Russian-speaker come up with this nickname? Perspirin’ minds wanna know…
