Beck’s Bust…

A note to all Christians… Glenn Beck (1964- ) is an apostate who converted from Catholicism to Mormonism… Sarah Palin is a Pentecostalist, which means that she’s not a Christian either. Why support sectarians? They hate us… they try to convert us to their error. They’re NOT Christians… don’t let them pretend to be such!

There was much hype over a presentation yesterday in the District by Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. After looking at images of this event and comparing them to images of President Obama’s inauguration and images of the Nazi Party rallies in Nürnberg, one has to conclude that Bill O’Reilly of Fox News was correct. There were nowhere near 100,000 people at this event. There was too much “green space” in the wide-angle images.

Look at the image below:

Look at this image of President Obama’s inauguration:

Now, here’s an image of a Nürnberg NSDAP Parteitag rally in 1937, there are 60,000 people on the field, bear in mind that the tribune/grandstand is 360 metres (1,182 feet) in width, over six times the width of the Lincoln Memorial (58 metres/190 feet):

Indeed, there could have been anywhere from 50,000 to 75,000 people present, I’d guess it was closer to the lower figure. Note well that the Reflecting Pool takes up a large part of the National Mall.

Think of the logistics involved. There wasn’t enough time to finesse charter buses, so, one has to assume that most of the attendees used their private autos to travel to the event. There were no extra flights into town… you get the picture, it was simply impossible to have 100,000 people present. If 100,000 people had travelled to the event by private auto, I-395 would have been a sclerotic parking lot (it’s the Inferno of motorways at the best of times, trust me). Could you imagine 25,000 autos trying to get out of the District at once? Youch! The thought is enough to give God the chills. It’s why many ticketholders missed President Obama’s inauguration… they were stuck in an unmoving La Brea Tar Pit AKA I-395 (“Abandon hope, all ye who attempt to enter here”).

Besides being overhyped, I don’t think that Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin can talk about “traditional values”. Neither one is a Christian of any recognised variety; both are sectarians of the most radical and unhinged sort. Ms Palin is a Pentecostalist; Mr Beck is a Mormon. See… neither one is Christian by confession. The Mormons were founded in 1830 (magic spectacles, golden plates, and Reformed Egyptian, anyone?) and the Pentecostalists date from 1901 (the Assemblies of God, Ms Palin’s subgroup, date from 1914 in Springfield MO… that’s hardly AD 30 and the Upper Room in Jerusalem, wot?). On top of that, Mr Beck is an apostate from the Catholics, if my information is correct. Neither one of these paladins can talk about Christian values, for the simple fact that neither one is a Christian! Furthermore, as Mr Beck is a Christian apostate, that deepens the irony, doesn’t it?

What happened yesterday in Washington shouldn’t scare us. This is the BEST that they can do! Pass the drinks… it’s the “day after”, and this has been a classic “flash in the pan”. Yes, the GOP shall pick up some seats in the House… they might even win control of it. It shall be a booby prize. The worst of the economic times are ahead of us and guess who’ll be blamed? It shall be a replay of 1994… that led to Bubba’s re-election. Remember, God has a sense of humour… he may give them PRECISELY what they asked for… control of the House… which means that they’ll reap the harvest of the bad times two years later. Is the GOP run by a pack of gibbering boobs? Perspirin’ minds wanna know!

“The Dems are in Trouble in the Fall”: “The Sky is Falling” from a Young Reporter, No Doubt

This is a well-managed shot… there are less than 100,000 in this picture… I’ve seen larger crowds than this in DC. In short, this is a bad knock-off of a Nürnberg rally, nothing more.

Firstly, one has to congratulate Beck on a sense of timing. He chose a weekend that was mostly “free” for most people. Next weekend is Labour Day weekend, with most families having plans for it. Besides that, the college term begins next Monday, so, people who were taking their older kids to school had that done by Friday. If one has younger kids, they don’t start school until the day after Labour Day. Many people were in the region of the District from out-of-area to bring in their kids to their dorms… it was relatively easy for many of them to stay for Beck’s shindig, if they were so inclined. Many of attendees, per the images posted on the internet, looked to be people of the age to have college-age children. Indeed, even if there had been no “event”, many, if not most, of the attendees would have been in DC anyway, they simply wouldn’t have been gathered in one place at one time (that is, it’s a major time for turistas, has been for years).

This is something that the reporter would have known, if they were more experienced. Obviously, the more senior staff is still on holiday, so, a young ‘un went out there and was unjustifiably “impressed” by the crowd. There’s a reason why the old salts are off right now… this is the deadest news period in the year. All the DC crowd is away… there’s no major primary during an election year… the campaign doesn’t really kick off until Labour Day… so, all the grizzled scribblers are out enjoying adult beverages, squabbling with the spouse, and driving the smart-mouth kid to college (gee… didn’t I mention that before?). I’ve been running this site since November ’07, this is the third “late August” that I’ve experienced as a writer… trust me, this is the “deadest” time of the year. June is almost as bad, what with college letting out and the school year ending, but the two last weekends in August are “dead time”… you plan accordingly.

So, in a sense, Beck was dumber than dirt. Yes… he got his “crowd”… but the timing muted the impact of it. Hmm… that seems contradictory… he’s smart for choosing a weekend that was guaranteed to have a crowd… he’s dumb for choosing a weekend that is relatively “opaque” as far as news coverage is concerned. Yet, that’s a real-world compromise. Labour Day weekend wasn’t available… there’s no doubt about that in my mind. That would have generated the “largest” crowd. Having been in the District, I can tell you that many in the crowd were curious onlookers drawn by the crowd itself. All that Beck wanted were stupendous images. Actually, Beck’s backers wanted the stupendous images… Beck and Palin are nothing but mouthpieces, remember both are trained TV presenters… they were “schooled” in the methods of public speaking and in appearing “sincere”. Trust me, the whole thing was scripted from start to finish… as was the opposition “progressive” rally across town, to be sure.

This event reminded me of two films by Leni Riefenstahl, Der Sieg des Glaubens (The Victory of Faith) and Triumph des Willens (The Triumph of the Will), depicting the 1933 and 1934 Nürnberg Nazi Party rallies. At these events, Hitler did not refer to anti-Semitism, seeking to reach out to the largest possible audience so early in his career. Likewise, Palin and Beck stayed off the main draws for the event, sick anti-Muslim prejudice and nativist bigotry. In any case, informed sources tell me that most of the funding for this event came from the billionaire Koch brothers who are pushing a radical corporatist agenda… the Kochs are major funders of most Tea Party events… keep THAT in mind as you read accounts of Tea Party “populism” (present election law allows secret and unlimited contributions to political events).

By the way, to end this, I’ll show you two images.

Here is a Nazi poster for Der Sieg des Glaubens:

This is a poster for Beck’s rally:

******

Oh, yes… Hitler’s theme at both of the Party Rallies depicted was “restoring Germany’s honour”… just thought that I’d mention that. There’s not much difference, is there? There IS a difference though… Ms Riefenstahl’s films are two of the greatest documentaries ever made (albeit on a horrid subject), whilst Mr Beck’s event was rather tawdry, and shall not survive the next news cycle. After all, the election is over two months away…
