Video. Sweet Little Russian Girl on Soyuz TV (Orthodox TV Channel)

I’ve had it with shovelling shit today… sometimes, it gets to you. So, here’s a sweet little girl on Soyuz TV (the Orthodox channel founded by Archbishop Vikenty Morar of Yekaterinburg) singing two Russian folk songs.

Here’s a pretty song by Kristina Aglinz… “For My Russia”…

The world is still sane in some places… shouldn’t we go back home, where we belong anyway? Mother Church waits for us…

“Will You Stop For Tea, Alice?” AOCANA Bites Its Tail… JP Accepts Renegade Bishop

Paffhausen’s playing Russian Roulette… it’s gonna go off… when? I don’t bloody know… if I did, I’d tell all of you, so that you could get away from the undertow when he sinks. It’s never boring, is it?

Let’s cut to the chase, here… Fathausen accepted a renegade bishop from the AOCANA. He should have stood aside. He’s made a powerful enemy just when he needs friends.

Let’s see… he pissed off the GOA with his dalliance with the OCL, and, now, he earns Saliba’s ire by picking up an errant Antiochian bishop. What’s truly interesting are the comments by the nappy-wearing konvertsy in Stokoe’s comboxes. They all think that this is GOOD for the OCA. Well… I’ll say this; it’s certainly an opinion! Saliba has connections up the yin-yang, including at the Centre. This was stupidity to the nth degree… it proves, even for the slow learners, that JP’s éminence grise, the divorced Matthew Tate, is nothing but an ignorant cultist who never changed his spots.

Doesn’t Fathausen understand that the magistrate in Winnipeg is watching him? This is surreal… one couldn’t write this as fiction, that’s for sure. Now, please, excuse me… I’m off the see the wizard!

Paffhausen Sticks Foot in Mouth… Illuminates Konvertsy Ignorance

Fathausen bleats! Note well that no other Orthodox hierarch spoke on this subject (or Terrence Mattingly didn’t ask them, which is even more culpable for a journalist)

In this piece, Fathausen shows why he’s unfit to be skipper of a rowboat, let alone the so-called “Metropolitan of all America and Canada”. No legitimate First Hierarch acts in such an impulsive and dismissive manner. When a reporter asked His Holiness about this same topic, he said that homosexuality was a human choice, that the Church respected all human choices, but that the Church believed that homosexuality was a “wrong” choice. His answer was more nuanced, more in line with actual Church practise. Apparently, Mr Paffhausen doesn’t keep up with what his brother bishops are up to (especially the one who could (and would) lift the Tomos in a moment), he’s too busy spending his time schmoozing with Mormons and Episkies.

This shows a glaring feature of the konvertsy. Many never “outgrow” the terminology, categories, and agenda of either American Sectarianism or Anglicanism. Some years ago, Mr Mattingly wrote gushingly of a bishop in Russia who demolished a chapel where a homosexual “marriage” took place. I asked a priest acquaintance in Russia, he said that the bishop involved came in for some criticism for over-reacting. “He should have reconsecrated the chapel… and that’s that. It would’ve deflected the press attention”. Mattingly effusively claimed, “That’s why they call it the Orthodox Church!”

No, it’s not, Mr Mattingly; the Church is more grownup than that. It’s not a pack of childish Sectarians with a heretical “House of War/House of Peace” attitude to the world (have ever noticed how the American Sectarians are corrosively anti-Muslim, yet, their attitude to the world is IDENTICAL to that of Islam?). However, it’s proof positive that these sorts NEVER convert in the real sense of the word… we should never ordain them to the priesthood, that’s certain (especially those contaminated with an Episkie or Sectarian formation as clergy… they’ll always be Episkies or Sectarians at heart).

Let’s recapitulate. The Church does NOT believe that homosexuality and heterosexuality are equivalent. The Church does NOT believe in homosexual “marriage”. The Church does not believe that homosexuality is a “right” choice. That’s not going to change any time soon or any time later. That being said, a REAL Church would not act impulsively to threaten to pull its chaplains in a fit of pique, as Fathausen is doing. His Holiness would meet with a senior general and find out the real situation, then, and only then, would he would make a decision, which, I assure you, would not be as childish and blustering as Fathausen’s.

You NEVER threaten to pull your people unless you’re prepared to back your flowery words with down-and-dirty actions. Fathausen thinks that his bluff won’t be called… obviously, he’s never played a hand of serious poker. He’s an ignoramus who listens overly much to his wingnut teabagger buddies. Trust me, not only is “don’t ask, don’t tell” going to be history before the end of the Obama Administration, single-payer healthcare is on the way, and the banks will have New Deal style regulation reimposed on them. In short, Fathausen has shackled himself to the binnacle of a sinking ship (the Tea Party is the last hurrah of the White Rejectionist Right Wing).

Truly, do we need such a bumbling boob as “Metropolitan of all America and Canada?” After all, it won’t play well in Canada… where a serious legal case is pending. JP played to the unwashed yokels in Peoria, forgetting that the folks in Winnipeg are listening, too (where the magistrate is probably of the ruling NDP… a social-democratic party).

There is another wrinkle that neither Mr Mattingly or Fathausen chose to share with you. In Canada, openly gay soldiers have been allowed to serve since 1992. There IS an Orthodox chaplain with the Canadian Forces, Captain Charles Baxter, a priest of the UOCC (EP). In fact, he just joined up this year. Congratulations… these right-wing slimers just made life more difficult for Fr Chuck. Isn’t it grand how being “right” can be so “wrong?”

Editor’s Postscript:

A friend gave me information to understand that new Russian military regulations don’t forbid “people of non-standard sexual orientation” from serving in the forces. As of 1 July 2003, homosexuals in Russia are allowed to serve openly (it was a definition issued by the medical branch of the services), there’s no official policy requiring them to conceal their sexual orientation.

Further Info Came In:

A friend of mine clued me in on further info concerning the torn-down chapel. It was an unsafe structure, already closed, scheduled for demolition in any case. The perpetrators were able to have such a “church wedding” precisely because of that. In Russia, churches are open daily, with quite a bit of coming and going. This scandal could never have happened in an open/functioning church… the faithful would have figured it out and stopped it early on!

No. These sad people sneaked into a condemned property, with assistance and money from the western media. Then, they howled that the “intolerant fascist homophobic Russian authorities” destroyed the chapel as a result of the ceremony; proving Russians are “undemocratic”. Isn’t that pure Tea Party style lies and skewering (it earns a Golden Evil George Weigel Award for its brazen untruth! It’s worthy of NPR or Fox at their best (worst)!)? This time, it was deployed by the Western “liberals” to tilt Western opinion against Russia. As for the schmidiots who tried pulling this off, the priest was defrocked, the sinning “couple” was placed under epitemia until they repented, and the demolition went on as planned.

Now, that gives the story more detail, more than my source knew! That’s how I find things out. I listen… if you’re not self-serving or repeating the First Families Line (don’t expect me to swallow the latest Lebedeff party-line bleat or JP’s most recent whopper). A big hat tip to my friend (who wishes to be anonymous). Take a BIG swallow from the jug, dear, you deserve it!
