Scots revellers dressed as Vikings take part in a traditional New Year’s parade for Hogmanay in Edinburgh, Scotland (UK). Hogmanay is the Scots New Year celebration, which eclipses Christmas in Scotland, and takes on many of the features of Christmas in other countries. The majority Presbyterian confession in Scotland discouraged the celebration of the Nativity until very recent times.
