Blunder Concelebrates with Fathausen in Dallas… Kisses Up to Teabaggers at Sectarian Conventicle Too

Dontcha just LOVE these low-res images? Someone at patriarchia.ru is telling us something… however, the braying pseudo-intellectual charlatans and squalling konvertsy brats are still gonna think that the Wonder’s the slickest thing since Billy Graham (or John XXIII). Like calls unto like, wot? There’s none so blind as those who WILL not to see…

Editor’s Foreword:

Bear in mind as you read this that it’s rubbishy twaddle from the Blunder’s Fib Factory in Bolshaya Ordynka… it’s not from the patriarchal press service. Hold your nose… you can do it… it’s the price you pay to stay informed. Know thy enemy…

On 12 February 2011, Archbishop Jonas Paffhausen of Washington and Metropolitan of all America and Canada served a Vigil at St Seraphim Cathedral in downtown Dallas TX. Amongst the worshipers, Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of Volokolamsk, the Chairman of the MP DECR, prayed at the service (За богослужением молился митрополит Волоколамский Иларион). Many believers from Dallas and other cities in Texas gathered in the church to greet Metropolitan Hilarion. After the service, Metropolitan Jonas formally welcomed his distinguished guest. He drew attention to the special relationship that Metropolitan Hilarion had with the OCA, pointing up that Vladyki Hilarion had served six years at the representational church of the OCA in Moscow. Then, Metropolitan Hilarion addressed the congregation, speaking about the missionary vocation of Orthodox Christians on the American continent (в котором напомнил о миссионерском призвании православных христиан на американском континенте). In memory of their joint prayer (В память о совместной молитве), Vladyki Hilarion gave St Seraphim Cathedral a copy of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God with a commemorative inscription. Then, he spoke with retired Archbishop Dmitri Royster, who for many years headed the OCA Diocese of Dallas and all the South. The next morning, 13 February, the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee, Metropolitan Hilarion concelebrated Divine Liturgy with Metropolitan Jonas at the cathedral. Other OCA clergy also served, along with Fr Igor Yakimchuk, the MP DECR secretary for Inter-Orthodox Relations and Hierodeacon Ivan Kopeikin, the Assistant Chairman of the MP DECR. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion went to the Highland Park Presbyterian Church, where he spoke to members of the Presbyterian, Orthodox, and Catholic communities in Texas. More than 5,000 people listened to the speech of Vladyki Hilarion {such is the claim, anyway… the anonymous author gave no proof… caveat lector: editor}. At the conclusion of his speech, Bishop presented an icon of the Saviour as a gift to Highland Park community.

Editor’s Afterword:

There’s a reason why I gave you some of the original Russian in brackets… the wording is a bit out of the ordinary. The Blunder “prayed” at the service, he didn’t “serve”… he spoke of “the missionary vocation of Orthodox Christians on the American continent”, not “the missionary vocation of the OCA”. That’s interesting! The Wonder is the classic apparatchik… he has no fixed beliefs, “a man whose allegiance is fixed by expedience”. This was a Jabberwockian utterance… but do note that the Blunder didn’t say outright that the OCA has the missionary vocation to witness to the American continent. If Fathausen was looking for some sign of unconditional support from the Centre (from the Blunder’s faction, at least), he was disappointed.

The Highland Park speech was pure GIGO… it was ecumenical hot air of the dreariest sort. Of course, the Americans misunderstood him, for he (was it unconscious or was it deliberate?) used “liberal” in its European sense (that is, extreme anti-state individualism as embodied by the US Republican Party and Sectarian “religion”)… little did they realise that his attacks on “liberalism” were attacks on the very basis of their Sectarian/laissez faire creed! The Blunder is ambitious to a fault… but that doesn’t mean that he’s stupid or crude (he’s no Pat Robertson, that’s for sure). Did he make his speech knowing that Europeans would receive it one way, and Americans would misunderstand it in another way (because of distortions in the American dialect)? That’s devious enough to fit the Wonder’s personality, isn’t it? I’ll betcha that all the usual cast of suspects were there for HA’s speech… Dreher, Matthewes-Green, Honeycutt, Fester, and Mattingly… was Bobby there, too? Perspirin’ minds wanna know!

Things are NEVER what they seem at first glance in American Orthodoxy. It’s definitely NOT boring covering this beat, I guarantee (say that with a Cajun lilt… shades of Justin Wilson)!
