Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the head of the MP Department for Church and Society, believes that if Russia is to achieve a happy future, it mustn’t be afraid to set lofty goals. “Today, for us, to focus on personal gain, and on constructing a petite bourgeois enclave, would be suicide. In order to spread its wings, Russia needs goals that surpass in scale not only the life of an individual, family, or generation, but also the lives of an entire people, that is, we should set goals that are global in scale, affecting the whole world and its history”, he said Wednesday at the second annual youth meeting of the World Russian People’s Council (VRNS) in Zvezdna Gorodok (Star City). He noted that Russia achieved “impressive successes when it combined scientific knowledge and technology, on the one hand, and great ideas, global missions, and the most ambitious goals, on the other”. In his opinion, this led to Russia’s success in space exploration, “A Russian officer became the first man to break through the chains of gravity, thanks to the efforts of scientists, workers, and technicians”. Fr Vsevolod believes that space exploration is one of the areas where we could set such goals, therefore, he encouraged young people to focus on this area, “You would find it a real life project and work worthy of the most daring ambition”, he assured them.
During the meeting, Fr Vsevolod suggested that young people studying the humanities and the natural sciences should get together to discuss their own life goals, as well as present and future state of Russia, including its social policy, international relations, the interaction of the state with the scientific and technological sectors, its place in the world, “and, in general, everything that today’s young people care about. I hope that such discussions would not only allow us to make recommendations to government and business, but also help young people find themselves and their place in the life of the country”. The meeting was also attended by Sergei Krikalev, Chief of the Cosmonaut Training Centre, Boris Volynov, cosmonaut-pilot, Yuri Lonchakov, commander of the cosmonaut group, VRNS members, and students from Moscow universities.

Editor’s Note:
Note this:
Today, for us, to focus on personal gain, and on constructing a petite bourgeois enclave, would be suicide.
I don’t think that most Americans are aware of how thoroughly most people throughout the world reject the self-centred mores of American suburbia and repudiate the nihilistic money-grubber ideology of the US Republican Party. What most Americans consider “normative and usual”, the rest of the world considers “reprehensible and weird”. Focus on Fr Vsevolod’s words and reflect deeply on the fact that he’s one of the closest confidants of KMG. In short, the pro-Tea Bag stance of Fathausen and the rest of the konvertsy is rejected by the Mother Church. They’re out of step with the rest of the Church and the RCs, too… they’re in step with Church-denying Sectarians, though!
You have a choice… you can follow Fr Vsevolod, the Real Church, and our fellow Christians outside the Church… or, you can follow Fathausen, the konvertsy, and the theomachistic Sectarians. I don’t find that a hard choice… neither should you.
