A waggish Irish friend ruefully admitted that the Church of Ireland has almost, if not all, the “classy” church properties. They said that the RC properties are usually pretty cheesy. According to them, “If they weren’t, they were made cheesy on purpose after Vatican 2″. An Orthodox friend said, “I like the C of I. Low Church, staid, calm, and patriotic towards the Republic, tasteful and warm. Sane and Orthodox-friendly”. As for me… I don’t know enough to have an opinion… but it’s Orthodox St Patrick’s Day. Have a Guinness… “Guinness is better for you (than anything else is)”, as its slogan in Gaelic has it… not a bad thought, no?
