Police Detain Suspects in Minsk Metro Blast
Authorities detained several suspects in connection with the terrorist attack in the Minsk metro, Byelorussian Deputy Prosecutor General Andrei Shved said on Tuesday. The Byelorussian KGB also promised a reward for providing any information related to the terrorist act that killed at least 12 and injured more than 120 when a bomb exploded as a train stood at the Oktyabrskaya metro station at 17.55 MSK (14.55 UTC 09.55 EDT 06.55 PDT) on Monday. The perp planted a bomb under a bench in the metro’s sole transfer station, the city’s busiest. ”Confidentiality and adequate remuneration are guaranteed to those who provide photos and video which were produced before, during or after the explosion, or who provide information about the preparation or commission of the crime”, the Byelorussian KGB reported. On Tuesday, KGB officers demanded that the editor of the opposition newspaper Nasha Niva provide photo and video content of the explosion in the Minsk subway. Nasha Niva published additional photo and video material of the bombing late on Monday that clearly showed the event. “The KGB are currently meeting our editor, Andrei Skurko. Editorial staff aren’t being allowed out”, said one journalist on the paper. The Byelorussian KGB also said the most likely perpetrator of the attack has already been identified and photofits of the suspects have been released. Byelorussian Interior Minister Anatoly Kuleshov said the bomb was probably homemade and radio-controlled. The blast has been classed as terrorism.

Byelorussian General Procurator Labelled the Explosion at the Oktyabrskaya Metro Station a Terrorist Act
According to the authorities, the explosion in Minsk metro was a terrorist act. On Monday night, Deputy General Procurator of Belarus Andrei Shved issued a statement. “We’ve opened a criminal case on the incident and formed a joint investigation team”, Interfax quoted him as saying. Byelorussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that the explosion at the Oktyabrskaya metro station killed 11 people, and injured more than 100.
