Let’s keep this simple. The GOP proposals are against the social teaching of the Church… full stop. If you want to know what His Holiness Patriarch Kirill says on the fraudulence of the “Free Market”, look at the right-hand side under “categories”, pull down “Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev” on the list, and read his words. I’ll tell you this… if you support the economic policies of the US Republican Party, you spit on the Lord Christ, you spit on His Church, and you spit on such duly-appointed legimtimate archpastors such as Patriarchs Kirill and Bartholomew.
The Church is allied with progressive political forces… it advocates the Social Market, as it’s more just and fair than so-called Laissez Faire Capitalism is. It OPPOSES the so-called “conservative” fancies of Neoliberal “Free Market” Corporatists, as their only object is to enrich the already wealthy and powerful. This is what His Holiness attacks when he attacks “liberalism”… he attacks the entire “conservative” agenda as godless avaricious greed and insatiable self-indulgence. He exposes the Neoliberal “conservatives” as the snivelling samobogi (“self-gods”) that they are. When they support the Republican corporate buccaneers, American churchmen as Jonas Paffhausen, Alexander Lebedeff, Lyonyo Kishkovsky, Victor Potapov, John Whiteford, Joseph Fester, et al, are in open and naked opposition to His Holiness’ publicly-stated social programme. Again, I urge you to read what His Holiness has said on the fraudulence of the Free Market, the emptiness of its claims, and the error of those who advocate it.
In Russia and the Near Abroad, the Church and the Communist Party often stand together. Indeed, in the Ukraine, the KPU stood tall in defence of the Church in the ‘90s when Ukrainian lickspittles of the American Corporatists attacked it. There was no peep of protest from the leadership in the OCA or the ROCOR, I might add (Potapov and Kishkovsky were particularly complicit in this), as the Uniates and schismatics ripped at the Church’s very flesh. The KPU interposed itself, in a very literal way, between the Church and its American-sponsored foes. We must bow before them in respect for such selfless bravery… it preserved Christ’s Church in the Ukraine. Both the Church and the Communists stand for a fair and just society… the Republican Party stands for a repressive dictatorship with “the race going to the swiftest”, and all of the rest of us toiling for their leisure and pleasure. The Church stands for an inclusive cooperative society, as does the Communist Party. The Republicans stand for a selfish grasping society with “individual rights” above all the legitimate calls of the social order. You can easily see which one is god-pleasing, and which one is demonic… I have no need to belabour the point.
There is no need for me to refute the Republican proposals point-by-point. They are the programme of the Anti-Christ… full stop. They propose to cut the lowest tax rates on the wealthy in the developed states even further by shredding the social safety net. That is, they propose to give gazillionaires tax cuts by stamping on the faces of the poor and powerless. If you support that, you’re an enemy of Our Lord Christ, and I’m not afraid to say that to any of you! I stand with His Holiness completely and without reservation. I stand with all forces for good… that includes the Communist Party. I oppose all those who propose to empower greed and enthrone the worship of Mammon… that includes all the present members of the US Republican Party in public office.
I oppose every churchman who stands for Satan, rather than Christ… you know very well who they are. They’re the ones who haven’t yet put up official condolences on the official websites of the OCA and the ROCOR for the dead of the Minsk Metro bombing (as of 21.00 EDT Friday 15 April, neither group has posted official condolences in an easily-accessible and visible location on their official website). It’s all of a piece… they support the rapacious covetousness of the bloated and ravenous plutocrats… yet, they refuse to show common decency for the dead, especially the dead of a people and Church that showed openness and hospitality to them in the past (and a people that is blood of our very blood)… His Holiness paid public and official respects, why didn’t they? Think on that for some time before you answer that one for yourself…
One of these things is NOT like the other.
