Pause a moment and say a prayer for all those who gave their lives in military service… if you’re not religious, that’s OK… you could stand for a moment of silent reflection in respect for the fallen. Both believers and unbelievers stand mute in the presence of the mystery of death… especially death in war. Most patriotic people still hold, Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori (Dying for one’s motherland is good and right). Give your hand to the families of the fallen… they need it (that’s why the Fred Phelps scummers are beyond the pale… they attempt to “use” the deaths of the soldiers as rhetorical points, and that’s OBSCENE). That’s better than going to a sale at the mall or listening to a politician’s speech, isn’t it?
