A newly discovered frog species, found in Papua-New Guinea, Paedophryne amauensis, is the world’s tiniest known vertebrate, according to PLoS ONE. Averaging less than one-third of an inch (7.7 millimetres) in length, the frogs are literally able to fit on a US dime. A team of American researchers led by Louisiana State University herpetologist Chris Austin made the discovery.
