Putin and Hu Oppose Military Intervention in Syria and Iran

______________________________

Russia and China oppose foreign military intervention to implement régime change in Syria. President Vladimir Putin and Paramount Leader Hu Jintao signed an Outline Joint Statement during President Putin’s official visit to the PRC. Their Joint Statement said:

The two parties emphasise that as further development of the situation in Syria is essential to peace and stability in the Middle East and for the world as a whole, they are strongly in favour of the need to find a peaceful and just settlement of the Syrian crisis without outside intervention, through a cessation of violence by all parties to the conflict and the establishment of a comprehensive political dialogue. Russia and China strongly oppose attempts by external parties to use force to resolve the Syrian crisis, including moves at the UN Security Council, in order to implement régime change. The two parties are convinced of the need to strengthen and consolidate international support for the mediation efforts of Special UN-Arab League Envoy Kofi Annan to resolve the Syrian crisis. They urge all parties to the conflict to accomplish an immediate cessation of armed confrontation, the full implementation of the Annan six-point peace plan, and the carrying out of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Russia and China Oppose the Use of Force and Threats Against Tehran

Russia and China oppose the use of armed force or the threat of force, they don’t approve the implementation of excessive pressure on Iran and the adoption of unilateral sanctions against it, they support the intensification of negotiations on the questions surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme, to seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue and negotiation instead of having a confrontation with Iran. Such a confrontation is fraught with serious negative consequences, not only for the region, but also for the international community as a whole, especially when one sees it against the background of general instability in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Putin and Hu Welcomed the Granting of Observer Status in the SCO to Afghanistan

Russia and China favour the establishment of Afghanistan as a peaceful, stable, independent, developing country free from terrorism and drug-related crime. Russia and China welcome the granting of the status of an observer at the SCO to Afghanistan; they also believe that there’s a necessity to focus on the development and improvement of existing regional cooperation structures involving Afghanistan, such as the SCO, to avoid reducing their efficiency of interaction as a result of overlapping mechanisms.

Putin and Hu Urged the Resumption of Talks on the Korean Peninsula

Russia and China strongly oppose any act prejudicial to the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula, as well as any action not conducive to the denuclearisation of the region; they hope that the states concerned will exercise restraint to avoid further aggravation of the situation on the peninsula. They believe that dialogue and consultation are the only effective means of resolving the situation on the Korean Peninsula. Russia and China call on the countries concerned for an early resumption of the Six-Party Talks and a balanced settlement of the concerns of each party through peaceful means, in order to establish long-term stability. They confirm that the maintenance of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and a responsibly-executed denuclearisation of the region are the common aspirations of all the parties concerned. The realisation of this objective is essential to the maintenance of peace, stability, and security in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Editor’s Note:

All of us have noted Wafflin’ Willy’s move to the extreme right. It’s had its effects, to be sure… none of them good for the USA and the future. His blustering threats have moved China and Russia closer to an actual military alliance, and have moved Russia and China to give Iran tacit assurances of support. GWB used black sites, torture, indefinite detention, aggressive war, and indiscriminate attacks on civilians… and Willy wants more of the same. Obama’s not used these methods to the extent that the Republicans did (in fact, the torture at black sites HAS ceased). In short, GWB, Cheney, and all those who plotted and carried out the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan were war criminals under the definitions of the Nürnberg Trials, and, frankly, they deserve to hang (don’t hold your breath… the perpetrators of Wounded Knee and Dresden died of old age in bed).

Ergo, as Willy supports the same policies, the choice is clear and stark. You can vote for Barack Obama, and vote for a VERY imperfect social democracy, or you can vote for Willy and vote for evil so profound that one could call it “Anti-Christian”. The Apocalypse tells us that the Antichrist will be so subtle that “he will fool the elect”… that means that it’ll look “pretty” on the surface but be utterly evil and crawling with maggots on the inside. The Republican Party of today not only wishes to undo what FDR did… it wishes to undo what TR did, and unleash an unfettered amoral brutish corporate dictatorship. It’ll be under the rubric of “economic freedom”… that is, “I’m free to fuck you royally, if I have the means to do so, and the state won’t stop or hinder me”.

THAT is why Russia and China are coming together… they have serious differences, but they see that the USA is an out-of-control rogue state, and that if Willy’s elected, it’ll be a ravening beast that’ll require their joint efforts to put down.

President Putin and Leader Hu have done the only right thing. God bless them. We may have peace in our time as a result…

6 June 2012. Moriak in Hospital… Is He Pulling a “Dickie Wood?” Dickie IS in the Chicago Area, After All…

Is it safe to go home? Have all those nasty people stopped asking questions about my son… the impertinence of it all! NO! You can’t see me… I’m sick… I say so…

_____________________________

A friend of mine informed me that Matthias Moriak is in hospital (it’s on the OCA Diocese of the Midwest website). That’s the trick that Dickie Wood pulled in Moscow to get the heat off his back. It’s an old Sov-era dodge… to avoid unpleasantness, one checks into hospital and claims that one’s doctors have prohibited business callers. In short, Moriak stirred up the shit with his “ukazi“, and he’s gotten blowback from them. Good, it may teach him a lesson or two. No doubt, things haven’t gone swimmingly since his bloviating, and he found out that JP’s an utter coward, who makes himself scarce when the rubber hits the road.

We’ll have to see if he HAS learnt a thing or two… I’d advise you NOT to hold your breath waiting for it, though…

6 June 2012. The Lamestream Media Missed the REAL Story in Wisconsin

_____________________________

Read this. It looks as though the corporate media’s hiding something (as per usual). If the Democratic challenger holds on to their lead through recounts that are expected to take days, if not weeks, it means that Scott Walker‘s agenda is DEAD. It also means that there’s no upsurge for Neoliberal “conservatism” in Wisconsin. If there’s no “upsurge” in Wisconsin, there’s even less of one nationwide. This is not based on polls or other notional grounds. This is a down n’ dirty election; we’re talking about real-deal votes cast by legit voters. Even if the GOP candidate were to steal the election in the courts (not as possible in Wisconsin as it is in Florida, Texas, and South Carolina), this will resonate with Badger State voters, who’ll realise how CLOSE the real contest was.

A friend of mine in Wisconsin (a long-time union steward) said that two factors fed into Walker’s victory, neither of which apply in a Romney versus Obama matchup. Firstly, many voters feel that the recall mechanism only applies in case of official malfeasance. That was stated by 60 percent of voters in exit polls, and my friend confirmed it. “I had good union guys, strong Democrats, say, ‘Hey, the guy didn’t do anything wrong… he’s an asshole, but he didn’t do anything wrong’. It was hard going against that”. Secondly, the Dems ran a clueless candidate. Tom Barrett has a “shitty personality”, he “didn’t fire up the base”, and “he lost to Walker the last time because he sucked”. There was so much attention on Walker that no one realised that the recall election wasn’t to decide whether Walker was to be recalled, it was an actual rerun election… my friend said that confusion was used by Walker operatives, aided by the fact that Barrett’s loud pro-gun control stance didn’t fly well in areas outside of Milwaukee, Madison, and some union strongholds. That’s why Walker racked up a 17 point plurality amongst men… Barrett was perceived by rural gun-owners as a “confiscator”. It had NOTHING to do with national “conservative” politics. My friend said, “A lotta guys voted for Walker because Barrett’s made dumbass statements about guns and gun-owners”.

Also note this… 92 percent of the voters had made up their minds A MONTH BEFORE THE ELECTION. All that much touted Super PAC money was cash stuffed down the toilet. In short… all the crowing you’re hearing from King Rush and Queen Ann (and all the rest of their drooling crew) is utter and complete 100 percent pure unalloyed bunkum and bullshit. Wisconsin was a Pyrrhic Victory… “One more victory like this, and we’ll be undone!” This was a battle… not the war. Don’t celebrate or get down in the dumps until you hear THE REST OF THE STORY.

6 June 2012. Lest We Forget… 68 Years Ago, the Forces of the Anti-Hitler Coalition Stormed the Normandy Beaches, Opening the Second Front

Graves in the American military cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer (Département Calvados. Région Basse-NormandieFRANCE

______________________________

On five beaches in Normandy, 68 years ago, the Western members of the Anti-Hitler Coalition opened up the long-awaited Second Front (Italy was a sideshow that didn’t count as such). As always, there were personal stories behind each and every loss. They all had faces… they all had names. It saddened me to see how little attention Americans pay to their history, quite unlike Russians or Greeks. An all-too-common attitude is, “If you can’t smoke it, eat it, screw it, or drive it, forget it”. Look at the difference between today in Normandy and Victory Day in Moscow. The comparison’s stark, and it’s not flattering to Americans. That’s sad… the American soldiers’ sacrifice was as total and pure as were those of the Red Army soldiers. It’s one of the reasons that I discount and disbelieve virtually everything written by American Rightwingers. Tome after tome about wealth… nothing about the sacrifices of those who made the postwar world possible. I look at these graves, and I’m moved to tears… I reflect on Wafflin’ Willy (and those of like ilk) hiding their money in offshore accounts whilst lecturing the rest of us about patriotism, and it moves me to anger. One of these things is NOT like the other…

I shall remember… shall you?

NO ONE IS FORGOTTEN… NOTHING IS FORGOTTEN… Olga Berggolts‘ words don’t just cover the Red Army, they cover the West’s portion, too. God bless them all…
