ROCOR Established Mission in Pakistan

______________________________

An Orthodox mission under the ROCOR is in operation in Pakistan. Metropolitan Hilarion Kapral of New York and Eastern America, the First Hierarch of the ROCOR, wrote in a statement on its official website, “Now, the ROCOR has a viable mission in Pakistan, with 175 members. This community is growing rapidly and attracting the attention of those interested in and looking for the Christian faith in Pakistan”. According to Vladyki Hilarion, believers pray in the open air or in any available space. The Mission needs to build a church; it already owns the land necessary for it, saying in an appeal, “We hope to build a church and an orphanage in the town of Sargodha”. Metropolitan Hilarion urged believers to support their project, saying, “By the grace of God, this would be the first Russian Orthodox church in the Indian subcontinent, which will serve as a stronghold of Orthodox spirituality, and a beacon to believers, as well as a refuge for many poor Pakistani children. Since construction will take place in Pakistan, the cost is low. We ask for your assistance in this project”.
