Lil’ Mizz Ginny and Slowpoke Matusiak are hack flacks with no soul or wit whatsoever. Why? I looked on the OCA clergy list, and, as of 22.45 EST today, Darling Ray’s missing from it. That’s a fact… you can check it out for yourself. I can’t be sued for saying so. Therefore, did the OCA give Sir Ray le sabot or not? That’s not impertinent… that’s important! If a church body suspends a cleric for malfeasance, it HAS to publicise it, so that the unwary aren’t gulled by the (generic) creepozoid clergyman. I got a Third Party whisper that Garklavs confirmed the suspension. Believe it or not, as you will. I don’t like the source personally, but I don’t think that they’re lying, and dislike doesn’t cancel out the truth (the truth is where it is, not where you think it is). Therefore, I’ll give it a “probably probable” status.

A source stated that the accusations against Fr Micahel are lies. Ergo, if they’re false, what does that say of the other accusations? After all, any of us could call on sources to testify in a court of law. In any case, as a moderator, he isn’t responsible for what’s published on the Orthodox Forum, the courts have continually ruled on that. He couldn’t have “knowingly admmited the publication…” of anything since sources tell me the Forum’s unmoderated, and what shows up shows up. Furthermore, the good word says that no one blocked any “countervailing material …. posted on the plaintiff’s behalf”. These are lies, that’s all that these are, lie after lie, not a single line of truth. I waited all day to post this… to give oca.org ample time to post the truth. They did not… draw the proper conclusions.

Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of Moscow and all the Russias reiterated that he wouldn’t meet with the Pope of Rome until [the Catholics] meet certain conditions. In an interview with the Serbian newspaper Вечерние новости (Vechernie novosti: Evening News), quoted by the official MP website, His Holiness said, “I still believe that if such a meeting were to be a success, it’s necessary to resolve the conflicts between us, if not fully, at least we should be taking substantive steps to address them”. In his opinion, the media pumps up the “purely sensationalist aspects of a possible meeting, we shouldn’t reduce it to a mere theatrical exercise. To be truly useful for the further development of relations between the [MP] and Roman Catholics, we should work together to make radical changes that’ll create a better atmosphere for these relations through the resolution of the existing problems between us”.

In speaking of the seizure of churches by the Uniates in the Ukraine, he pointed up that the MP recently proposed to revive a quadripartite commission involving the Vatican, the MP, the UOC/MP, and the Ukrainian Uniates. He said, “However, the Catholic side was very cool to our proposal”. He related that the MP, through its regular contacts with the leadership of the Catholic Church, constantly raises the question of resolving the situation concerning the seized Orthodox churches in the Western Ukraine, saying, “The Pope of Rome and the heads of Vatican Congregations express a nuanced understanding of our concerns, but the problem still remains unresolved”.

At the same time, he noted that the situation in Orthodox-Catholic relations in Russia over the past ten years is “significantly improved. The problem of proselytism isn’t as acute as it was in the ‘90s, when Catholic missionaries actively roamed all over Russia. In 2004, we created a joint working group to address the problems in relations between Orthodox and Catholics in Russia. It’s played a positive role”. His Holiness thinks that it’s necessary to develop cooperation between Orthodox and Catholics, “in keeping the Christian tradition, we are close in our views on personal and social ethics, scientific and technical progress, bioethics, and other issues of our time”, including the protection of the rights of Christians.

Asian countries threw down a challenge to the USA and the EU. China, India, and Turkey refused to support a ban on Iranian oil imports, and they’ll not allow the USA to block the export of Iranian oil. Japan and South Korea are planning to follow suit. This week, the EU banned the import of Iranian oil imports, but it remains an isolated unilateral action. On Monday, EU foreign ministers approved a new package of sanctions against Tehran that provides for a gradual ban on the import of Iranian crude oil and petroleum products. The EU plans to stop purchasing oil from Iran by 1 July. Until recently, the main buyers of Iranian oil in Europe were Greece, Italy, and Spain, who bought 600,000 barrels a day. Yevgeni Satanovsky of the Institute of the Middle East said, “Europe decided to buy itself some time so that it could find alternatives to Iranian oil imports. Europe will have no problems replacing Iranian oil with oil from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, or Kuwait. The Gulf Cooperation Council has already made it clear that it will recoup the losses”.

Meanwhile, some oil refineries in Europe might face quite a headache, for they’re not only set up to refine Iranian crude oil, they refine a particular sort of it. Experts have speculated on whether an embargo will hit the buyer or the seller harder. The IMF predicts a 20 to 30 percent increase in the cost of oil. Sergei Druzhilovsky of the Moscow Institute for International Relations said, “That means an increase of 20 to 30 dollars per barrel at current prices. Europe accounts for 18 to 20 percent of Iranian crude oil exports. A ban on these exports will not collapse or cause any serious problems for the Iranian economy. It might affect oil prices set for China and India, which could create a bit of a problem. It looks like “dumping” is inevitable, as Iran will definitely have crude oil stockpiles available for sale. Iran’s now switching to payments in currencies other than the dollar, the Japanese Yen, the Indian Rupee, and the Chinese Yuan”.

This week, China and India reiterated their determination not to support the embargo. Japan‘s gradually changing its position, having initially yielded to pressure from the USA. It has now asked, as an exception, not to cut its imports from Iran. South Korea dragged its feet over the decision, forced to choose between political solidarity with its pushy overseas ally, and the country’s energy security. Analyst Stanislav Tarasov commented, “Unlike Tokyo and Seoul, Ankara unhesitatingly rejected pressure from the USA without hesitation. Turkey’s position is purely pragmatic. It’s well aware that Europe’s going through a depression and that cutting Iranian oil imports would only make things worse. Iran is Turkey’s main trading partner, accounting for half of its oil imports. Ankara won’t find any alternatives to Iranian supplies amongst the Arab countries, from which it’s trying to distance itself in any case. Besides, Iranian oil offers it freedom to act as it pleases. Turkey is simply being sensible about the issue. A crude political game is underway, aimed at pressuring Iran, which simply testifies to the deteriorating quality of Western diplomacy. The West is trying to make Iran begin talks with the ‘six’ (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) on its nuclear programme. The problem is, after Turkey played a crucial role in mediating Iran’s consent to a meeting with the six-party representatives in Istanbul, the West started ‘torpedoing’ the talks”.

Yevgeni Satanovsky commented on Ankara’s position, saying, “Turkey wishes to demonstrate that it’s an independent player, a regional superpower, and sets its foreign policy towards its neighbours as it will. On the one hand, it agreed to station an American radar base on its territory, certainly an anti-Iran move. Yet, on the other, it’ll continue to buy oil from Iran, as Ankara’s interested in energy cooperation with Tehran”.

On Friday, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry reiterated that Pakistan would take part in a project to build a gas pipeline from Iran to Pakistan despite the threat of an imposition of international sanctions, even though the USA is strongly against the project. In commenting on their stance, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry emphasised that international sanctions should be limited to Iran’s nuclear programme and should not affect Pakistan’s participation in a gas project with Iran.

Over the past week, there’s been a kerfuffle over a priest suing four laypeople and a priest for defamation. Firstly, one must ascertain the circumstances. I can state, under oath, that no representative of Mr Velencia approached Nicky or me insofar as having a sit-down to resolve any matters at any time. I believe that the other parties to his suit can say likewise. That is, Raymond Velencia used a lawsuit as his means of first instance. It wasn’t something that he resorted to after an attempt to resolve matters failed. If this was how the Koumentakos case developed, one can see why RV couldn’t get legal exoneration; he had to accept a confidential settlement as the only way to “quiet” the situation.

I tell you what’s disturbing about this dénouement. It took a lawsuit against a priest to rouse JP to action. He doesn’t give a damn about laypeople getting the Italian stallion from priests… but don’t you dare sue a priest! That sickens me to no end. I’ll tell you what the people want. They wish to SPEAK and for the leadership to HEAR them… they wish a real apology followed up with real ministry for the harm caused by wilful and nasty dictator-priests… along with a strong statement that the Church won’t tolerate this BULLSHIT from its clergy anymore. They want the victims to have compassionate care, not treatment as foreign and alien adversaries. They want all BAD clergy to be properly disciplined, removed if necessary, and sent away for treatment and repentance, to places where they can hurt no more innocent people. That’s what the people want… it’s what they hope for, it’s what they need, and it’s what they ask for.

Their cries go up to Heaven for the end of this abomination… shall the bishops hear them? Only time will tell us…

I’ve just learned from a reliable source that JP suspended [a well-known priest] for suing a priest. SO!  [He] can trash a parishoner, but HOW DARE he sue a priest!! They can all go FUCK themselves as far as I’m concerned…

This is NOT official… it’s a reliable whisper… but it’s safe to say that you should look for an announcement that a certain litigation-happy clergyman from South of the Mason-Dixon Line might have stepped in a fresh and gooey cow pat. It’s OK to brutalise parishioners… that’s fine. This fine gent found out that he shouldn’t mess with the clerical estate… they defend their own. Let’s see what Slowpoke Matusiak and Lil’ Mizz Ginny have to say on the matter tomorrow… they have to sharpen up their quill pens and scrape down the parchments, dontcha know!

In any case, a certain recent lawsuit had technical flaws, as a friendly lawyer pointed up to me. The plaintiff couldn’t sue us all in one action… we weren’t “in collusion”, we weren’t a “conspiracy”, and it concerned “disparate actions from diverse parties that must be addressed in separate proceedings”. They told me that any competent lawyer could get it tossed on technical grounds. That’s not to mention the legal standards embodied in Sullivan vs NY Times and Westmoreland vs CBS, which just seals the deal. Priests are PUBLIC FIGURES. Court cases are PUBLIC ACTIONS. Mix the two… the plaintiff doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell in any court save the most “friendliest” and “packed”.

On Sunday, the BBC reported that Greece rejected suggestions that it should cede control over its budget to an EU outsider. Greek Minister of Culture and Tourism Pavlos Geroulanos told the BBC it would be “impossible” for Greece to accept such a deal. He responded to a leaked German proposal for a EU budget commissioner to take control over the country’s tax and spending powers, saying “We’ve given up quite a bit, but I think sovereignty’s a red line that no-one would dare cross. I’d rather resign as a minister than allow anybody to tell us the way we should be spending our money”. Meanwhile, Greece and the creditors who own Greek bonds are said to be close to a deal to significantly reduce the country’s debt, paving the way for it to receive much-needed further bailout funds from the European Commission, the European Central Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The parties involved could finalise a deal next week.

We see unacceptable injustice, double standards, and political lies here; they declare commitment to ideals of humanism and protection of human rights, yet, they turn a blind eye in the face of a hell created by extremists with the connivance of their foreign sponsors”.

Patriarch Kirill asserted, “At the time of the NATO intervention against Yugoslavia (in 1999), the western world was exposed to an intensive media campaign and was much deceived by it. The western media published intentionally twisted information about the Milošević régime’s atrocities against Kosovo Albanians by exaggerating the number of victims of ethnic cleansing carried out by the Serbian police in the province. The precious monuments that the Serbian people built in Kosovo and Metohija will live as long as prayers are heard in the churches”. He reiterated that Russia was helping to restore and protect the Serbian Orthodox cultural heritage through UNESCO and that it was sending humanitarian aid to the Kosovo Serbs. In conclusion, His Holiness said, “I’ve been to Kosovo and Metohija many times and met with the local population; I witnessed the difficult conditions they live in. The things I’ve seen have strongly affected me. The Russian Orthodox Church showed and will show solidarity with the Kosovo Serbs”.

The closer the presidential elections approach, the more active the opposition becomes. Sergei Udaltsov, the leader of the Left Front movement, said that the left should form a united front under the red banner for the next rally on 4 February, urging all leftists to form a united anti-capitalist party.

At the Forum of Left Forces in Moscow this Saturday, some 300 Communists, Stalinists, Maoists, and Trotskyites from all factions of the left discussed ways to overcome the differences that have plagued them for the past 20 years. They’ve repeatedly attempted to unite, but efforts at union always failed. Their objective is to “build a humane and classless society, recognise the principle of public ownership of the means of production, and a multi-lateral approach to international affairs”. Their joint declaration affirmed the priority of “replacing the presidential system with a parliamentary one, the affirmation of the rights of freedom of speech and assembly, the right to a free education and healthcare, and the protection of cultural and human rights”. They insisted on the nationalisation of the commodity sector and banks, imposing control on foreign trade in “strategic products, and the replacement of the current 13 percent flat tax with progressive rate taxation.

Vladimir Lakeyev, the leader of the Moscow branch of the KPRF said, “The left mustn’t remain on the sidelines of political life… the massive protests against the rigged elections to the Gosduma should goad us to unite. We’ll join the marches against electoral fraud on 4 February. As Lenin said, we must always be with the masses. At the same time, we must never forget who are the keynote speakers of the planned protests… Boris Nemtsov, Konstantin Borovoi, Aleksei Kudrin, Mikhail Gorbachyov, and those like them. Today, they call for fair elections, but in the ‘90s, they seized power. They call for new elections because the people refused to back the rightwing parties in the 4 December elections. Yabloko, for instance, failed to make it into the Gosduma. The same is true of Right Cause, which won a meagre 2 percent of the vote. The other right-wing groups weren’t even on the map. All of them oppose corruption only because they don’t have the opportunity to ‘milk’ the budget. Therefore, today, they plot to return to power using bourgeois-democratic catchwords and slogans. We must be on our guard against these gents, and not unwittingly help them to regain power”.

Sergei Udaltsov spoke about plans for much more than a simple electoral protest on the day of the march, saying, “Today, leftwing ideas are popular in society. The latest Gosduma elections in Russia revealed a popular shift away from the liberals {“conservatives” in Anglosphere terminology: editor} and the nationalists in the direction of the left. Indeed, the Communists and Just Russia were among the biggest vote-winners. An anti-capitalist coalition’s emerging, which has the entire Putin system, rather than Vladimir Putin himself in its crosshairs. This system’s flawed and it’s dangerous for the country and for our people. We must develop a coherent plan of action. Firstly, we have to understand our role in the popular movement that started on 4 December. Some say that we shouldn’t join rallies with liberals and ‘Orange Revolution’ proponents. You never make a real revolution in crisp white gloves. You can’t do that, you only wear that sort of thing at funerals. Therefore, on 4 February, in Moscow and many other Russian cities, we need a massive turnout of people marching under the red banner”.

For the first time, the presidential election will take place in a setting of mass rallies. Both the authorities and the opposition are rolling out mass events. Latest reports say there’ll be two rival sets of marches and rallies on 4 February, one led by the opposition, and the other by followers of Vladimir Putin. However, Moscow will see when the left marches…

On Friday, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin urged his challengers in the presidential race to drop nationalist slogans, warning of the possibly “fatal” consequences of fuelling Russian chauvinism. At a meeting with World War II veterans in St Petersburg, Putin pointed up that a nationalist problem does exist in Russia, and that we should address it properly, saying, “Instead of proposing a solution to these problems… our politicians have started to exploit these difficulties” in order to achieve “selfish political goals. For a multi-ethnic country such as Russia, this behaviour can be fatal and lead to the destruction of the country”. Putin said this in response to a veteran who expressed concern over slogans such as “Russia for Russians” that he said have frequently popped up in Russia, including in the media. Vladimir Vladimirovich said that he believed Russia’s ethnic diversity was an advantage, “The broader and richer the genetic code is, the stronger the nation is”. The most obvious target of Putin’s remarks was Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the ultra-nationalist LDPR party, who will challenge Putin in the 4 March elections, along with three other candidates.

Meanwhile, critics say both Russia’s ruling élites and the opposition benefit from flirting with nationalist sentiment. On Thursday, Putin pleased Russian nationalists by proposing an array of robust measures, including stiff laws, to deal with the soaring numbers of illegal immigrants in Russia. The issue has long been a source of huge public discontent among Russians who fear being “overrun” by people from the former Soviet republics. Speaking during a meeting with the Federal Migration Service, Putin said that his friends told him, “In some large cities people are afraid of leaving their homes on holiday” because of the fear of “strangers”. Putin’s proposals come less than a week after he wrote an article on modern problems in a multiethnic Russia as part of his election programme. He said that migrants should respect the customs and traditions of regions they come to live in, and that the authorities should properly address any aggressive or disrespectful behaviour on their part. On Thursday, Putin proposed making exams in Russian, history, and the basics of Russian law mandatory for migrants from 2013, saying that would help them to adapt to life in Russian society.

On Friday, a bill introducing life sentences and mandatory chemical castration for paedophiles passed the crucial second reading in the RF Gosduma. The Kremlin introduced the draft bill in October, which generated much debate and amendment before the Friday reading; it tightens punishments for most kinds of sex crimes against minors. The most widely discussed innovation is chemical castration, introduced in Russia for the first time. The bill in its current form only speaks about “mandatory medical treatment” without elaborating, but officials who worked on the draft said it includes both chemical castration and psychiatric drug treatment. Garri Minkh, the Kremlin envoy to the Gosduma, said that mandatory chemical castration would be one possible punishment for molesters who abuse children under 14. Judges would have to consult medical professionals before giving out this punishment, he added.

Convicts in other types of sex crimes involving minors will have the option of voluntarily seeking chemical castration when pleading for parole, the bill said. Dodging “mandatory medical treatment” after release on parole will be punishable with one year in jail. The Gosduma also introduced life in prison as the maximum penalty for gang-raping a minor, currently punishable with four to 10 years behind bars. The bill has to pass one more hearing, and gain approval by the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper chamber, before President Dmitri Medvedev can sign it into law. The date for the third hearing was not set on Friday.

In 2010, Ombudsman for Children Pavel Astakhov said that 98 percent of convicted paedophiles commit new sex crimes upon release, but for those who undergo chemical castration the figure is only 3 percent. He also spoke, prior to the Kremlin bill’s introduction in the Duma, about a “paedophile lobby” stalling legislation on the matter in the parliament, but never named any names. Child abuse skyrocketed in 2010, increasing several times year-on-year for most type of sex crimes, Astakhov said last year. The dismal situation prompted activists to start vigilante groups tracking down paedophiles to report them to police or, in some cases, beat them up without involving law enforcement.

Countries that currently practice chemical castration for child molesters include Australia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Poland, and South Korea, as well as several US states, most notably Florida and California. However, several human rights groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, have protested its use over dire health side effects. In the past, the other countries used this method, but it wasn’t limited to sex offenders. Its most famous victim was British scientist Alan Turing, one of the fathers of computer science, who underwent chemical castration for being gay in 1952. He committed suicide two years later.

Ever since the chaos of the Nasty Nineties, the working people of Russia have mistrusted the thin layer of pro-Western lickspittles who “speak” for Russia to the Western media. You see, “limousine liberal” poseurs like Serge Schmemann, Sophia Kishkovsky, Anya Schmemann, and Katrina vanden Heuvel only speak to a small circle of zapadnik pseudo-intellectuals and “biznessmen” (the word is a pejorative in Russian… normal people tend to spit after saying it). Look at how they cream their jeans over Gorbachyov! Let me tell you, Mikhail Sergeyevich is one of the most hated men in Russia… most ordinary people blame his dithering and indecision for the death of the USSR and the import of the most feral forms of Western capitalism.

Let me give you a small example. SVS hates the Union of Orthodox Banner-Bearers and calls them “Fundamentalists” (always a term used by the overeducated and underinformed). Supposedly, they’re racists, homophobes, “traditionalists”, yadda, yadda, yadda. I’ll tell you why they hate them… they’re working class people who won’t be led about by phoney pseudo-intellectuals like John Behr, Paul von Meyendorff, and Patrick Henry Reardon. C’mon, such sorts imagine themselves to be modern Mahatma Gandhis, but they’re really the political and academic equivalent of Verka Serduchka (click here and here for two of his funny vids). As for the Banner-Bearers, their strongholds are gritty blue-collar suburbs like Lyubertsy (the famous rock band Lyube comes from there… here’s one of their songs (“KomBat” is a Russian military acronym for “Battalion Commander”)) and Bibirevo (in Moscow, the workers live in the outer ‘burbs, not the oligarchs), not the effete environs of the Vanil Restoran… where one can find Dickie Wood sipping a martini with his oligarch pals (as photos indicate). The people in the image above are of the same ilk. Working people don’t need “direction” from jumped-up fraudulent “middle class voices”. They can do their own thinking and come to their own conclusions, thank you very much, even if credentialised putzes in academe and the media think otherwise.

If you were to ask most working people, they want a society with Social Justice and Social Democracy (with a good dose of Socialism as part of the mixture). Yet, they also want a society where bureaucrats leave them alone and where John Law stays off their backs. That is, they’re NOT Neoliberal “conservatives”, yet, they’re not American-style “liberals” either. I’d say that working people want a society like the New Deal… where there’s a social safety net and social benefits to ensure a decent “floor” for living, where the government looks out for the “little guy”, but where criminals go to the slammer, and where the state leaves people free to pursue their private lives. That’s what most ordinary folks want… not the “freedom” to rape one’s fellow man for personal gain, or, for the “right” of corporations to have more rights than living-and-breathing people do.

The ordinary people of Russia are speaking… and they’re NOT saying what the NY Times, the Economist, CNN, and Fox News want you to hear. Look at the image… and be enlightened. “Citizens, our voice is important!” I’d say that’s true here, too… Barack Obama and Mitt Romney should heed it…

The remaining four contenders for the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination faced off for the last time before Floridians go to the polls on Tuesday. Despite it being the 19th such debate, it was a key event for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in what has become a two-man race. Gingrich and Romney came out of the door swinging and the debate largely became a battle between the two frontrunners. The first question in the CNN-hosted debate came from an audience member who asked about illegal immigration, which has become a theme in the race this week. It’s fitting given the size of Florida’s immigrant community, but also because of recent attacks by the Gingrich campaign calling Mitt Romney “anti-immigrant”. In the exchange that followed, Romney said, “I’m not anti-immigrant. My father was born in Mexico. My wife’s father was born in Wales. They came to this country. The idea that I’m anti-immigrant is repulsive”.

If Romney wanted an apology, he didn’t get one and Gingrich only escalated the attack, saying, “You tell me what language you’d use to describe someone who thinks that deporting a grandmother or grandfather from their family… just tell me what language you would use”. However, earlier in the day, US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) voiced objections to Gingrich’s campaign ad and they pulled it off the air. He told CBS This Morning that the tactic wasn’t good for the Republican Party, saying, “Whoever wins this nomination is going to have to come back to Florida in the fall and win again. I want to make sure that we don’t have candidates saying things that we’re going to have to come back and defend”.

Romney kept up his attack on Gingrich for working for Freddie Mac, the government supported mortgage giant, work for which Gingrich received around 1.5 million dollars (45.26 million Roubles. 1.135 million Euros. 953,000 UK Pounds) for services. Gingrich, however, used information recently revealed that Mitt Romney had invested in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to the tune of a half million dollars (15.1 million Roubles. 380,000 Euros. 320,000 UK Pounds), saying, “We discovered to our shock that Governor Romney made a million dollars (30.17 million Roubles. 760,000 Euros. 635,000 UK Pounds) of selling some of that and [he] has shares in Goldman Sachs which is today foreclosing on Floridians”. Romney responded that he didn’t know where many of his investments went because they were handled by a blind trust. Whilst Romney may have been risking further alienating himself from the voters, as he has been known to do, he seemed more confident in his response and said he was not going to apologise for his success, saying, “There are bonds that the investor has held through mutual funds, but, Mr Speaker, have you checked your own investments? You also have investments in mutual funds that also have investments in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac”.

Before long, former US Senator Rick Santorum and Congressman Ron Paul stepped in, making an effort to stop the two opponents from bickering about their own wealth. Santorum suggested that one’s own success should be off limits, saying, “Governor Romney went out and worked hard. Leave that alone and talk about the issues”. Ron Paul proposed a simple solution, saying, “The question is, ‘What are we going to do about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?’ [They] should have been auctioned off”.

If this was the most contentious of the debates so far, that’s because Florida could be “do or die” for the candidates in this unique primary race in which all the rules have been thrown out and the swing state may have even more say in who the Republican nominee will be. Additionally, the two candidates are in a statistical dead-heat, with Newt Gingrich losing some steam after his South Carolina victory gave him a Florida bump. The negativity in Florida is palpable and not just in the debate. In the airwaves attack ads dominate. In addition to the ad calling Romney anti-immigrant, a Romney ad took on Gingrich for a comment in which he referred to the “language of the ghetto”. When Gingrich brought it up in the debate, however, Romney initially denied the ad, saying it probably wasn’t from his own campaign. However, a quick fact check at the debate showed that it was, undermining Romney’s statement and leading to headlines.

Tim Pawlenty, the former governor of Minnesota who dropped out of the race a few months ago, told VOR that was the wrong story, saying, “I think the focus should be on did Newt say that or imply that. Third-party groups have looked at it and said that’s what he said”. Whilst Pawlenty endorsed Mitt Romney, former Congressman Bill McCollum who ran for Florida governor in the Republican primary, endorsed Newt Gingrich. After the debate, he told VOR that he thought Newt Gingrich handled the debate well, saying, “I thought he answered the questions just fine. The anti-immigration thing, Romney rehearsed… but Newt’s immigration policy is sound”. However, there were some lighter moments in the debate. When Wolf Blitzer noted that Ron Paul would be the oldest president if elected and asked if he would show his medical records, Ron Paul responded that he would challenge anyone on the stage to a 25-mile bike ride, adding, in jest, “There are laws about age discrimination, so you better be careful”.

[Roman Catholic] Harrisburg Bishop Joseph McFadden said in an interview last week with WHTM-TV that totalitarian governments “would love our system” of education. He said Hitler and Mussolini also tried to set up systems that would educate children “in one set of beliefs and one way of doing things”.

Firstly, my belief is that if people wish to make braying jackasses of themselves, we should let them do it. There should be no legal penalty for it. Everyone should have the right to go to hell in the handbasket of their own choosing. There’s much too much “political correctness” and there are too many “speech codes” out there. If Mr McFadden wishes to make a jackass of himself… well, let him do it, and face the consequence of his remarks. Here’s something about him:

It was during McFadden’s service as a secretary to Cardinal Krol that Krol is believed to have excused and enabled the sexual abuse of hundreds of children within the Philadelphia Archdiocese.[6] In 1988, McFadden was designated as a go-between with the family of an abuse victim in order to free Archdiocese managers of the legal duty to report the victim’s abuse.[6]

It appears that Mr McFadden is somewhat… IMPLICATED (by reason of his former position)… in the current RC sex scandal. It appears that we must take his present statement with a block of salt as a result. It’s why Ray Velencia’s lawsuit against Fr Michael Reagan makes one sit up and notice. Normally, one notices that clergy cover up for one another; they don’t sue one another. Had things progressed as they normally do in the real world, RV would’ve sued Cappy, Mel, Mark, and me, and he would’ve left Reagan alone. They’d have a private Donnybrook, no doubt, but, in the usual course of events, clergy don’t even badmouth other clergy in public, let alone sue them in a court of law. Mr McFadden’s career seems to indicate that. He’s done nothing untoward, to be sure, but his former position does tend to point to his having kept his peace about this or that (which is why I discount his current outburst as mere wind).

Orthodox people should take note that McFadden’s the sort of person that Fathausen wants to ally us with… interesting, no?

That’s why we must close down the Guantánamo Bay detention camp (it’s in an illegally-maintained US colony to begin with) immediately and prosecute all those who ordered the torture of suspects in clandestine CIA prisons in Eastern Europe. Otherwise, we’re on the slippery slope to Hadamar and Auschwitz. Note me well, we shouldn’t move against those who RAN the detention and torture centres, we should move against those who ordered their existence, who winked at their operation, and who colluded to keep them secret. The poor fuckers who ran them were only following orders from George W Bush, Richard Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld, who are the real principals in this affair. By the standards of the Nürnberg Trials, those named are major war criminals, and should face an international tribunal, in order to help America clean itself of their criminality. One of my sources told me that Sir Ray did file in federal court. Perspirin’ minds wanna know… if he’s a retired priest, where’s he getting the money to pursue this? Needle’s not doing this for free. Also, I received whispers that, yes, some RC priests have sued this one and that one… and none have succeeded. My main point stands. You must prove “malicious intent”… and that’s damnably difficult. Besides that, the Winnipeg magistrate is watching this, and I believe that a criminal court CAN subpoena documents such as “confidential settlements”, if they’re deemed relevant. In short, Sir Ray has stepped into a gigantic and malodorous cow pat, and he’s trying to blame everyone but himself. Where is the OCA Holy Synod?

Ray Velencia (RV) lives in Columbia, which didn’t even exist prior to 1967. On top of that, it’s not a city, it’s not a town, it’s not a village… it’s a CDP (Census-Designated Place). Everything’s artificial, including the three “lakes”. That is, there isn’t a Columbia “government” responsible to the voters. When you add in its proximity to the NSA campus and to Fort Meade, which leads to a certain volatility in the residential courts, it certainly doesn’t add up to a “normal” situation. The true intent behind Columbia was that it would be a Company Town… “Company” as in “The Company”… that’s Beltway-speak for the CIA. There was to be no local government to interfere with Langley’s surveillance of the area… and, to this day, the only local governance comes from Howard County or from the shadowy “Columbia Association (CA)”, a body that’s not responsible to the populace in the normal course of events. Therefore, Columbia’s an odd-job place with no history, no government, and no civic identity in the accepted sense (and not much in the way of a fixed permanent population). That’s distinctly odd in anyone’s book. Ray, of course, has lived in Columbia long enough to be contaminated by its atmosphere.

You see, if someone doesn’t “fit in”… the CA pressures them out. There’s no government to stop them, all too many residents are atomised transients, and most of the rest are Stepford Wives-style conformists and goodthinkers. In short, I wouldn’t last 30 seconds there. Not all of the Columbia CDP is “Columbia Proper”… only the part administered by the CA is that. Steeped in such a marinade, RV became a megalomaniac. He probably wasn’t the most tightly-wrapped sort to begin with, being put into a loose (almost an anarchic) situation only exacerbated it. He truly thinks that the rest of the country is like Columbia… it’s not.

In any case, I made my statements in New York State, so, he has to sue me in a New York State court or in a Federal court. Maryland courts have no jurisdiction over actions committed in New York State! Click here to see details on his court “case”. Only New York State or Federal courts have such jurisdiction. However, Ray’s gotten away with all his garbage because it’s been local. For whatever reason, he gets away with his pranks. I think that he’s got connections (probably through someone like Lyonyo or Webster) and he’s not afraid to use them. His mouthpiece, one Howard Needle, is a semi-retired guy in his 70s; he’s a former Democratic Party button-man and fixer (he was a delegate to a Maryland Constitutional Convention, which proves it). You can’t go to a local court to sue for defamation… local statutes don’t cover that! State laws do, and they differ from state to state. That’s what so odd about this. Yet, a friend of mine is correct:

This is all the OCA’s fault…they had ample opportunity to stop Velencia. Now, he’s suing clergy, which will move them to deal with him. It’s all their fault… not dealing with a problem isn’t going to make it go away… it often makes it worse. It’s the same with the sex abuse scandals… they knew about Archbishop Storheim two, almost three, years ago.

Let’s keep this on track… RV does the dreck he does because Fathausen protects him. In a normal situation, institutions “solve” personnel problems in a rather abrupt and clear fashion. It’s what happens… they’d throw RV under the bus “for the good of the Church”. You NEVER hear of RC priests suing people… NEVER. That’s because defamation is very hard to prove in the case of “public figures”. You must prove malicious intent, and that’s a slippery slope. In any case, the RCs know that if they let it be, time will “cure” most of it. If you haven’t noticed, if an RC priest gets too much “heat”, they transfer him. They don’t sue journalists or private people… they know better (and they have better lawyers than RV and the OCA has).

It’s time for action. Shall the OCA Holy Synod act? I’ll say this… if it doesn’t, Judge Pollack in Winnipeg’s gonna notice it. It won’t bode well for Seraphim Storheim. An institution is well on the road to self-willed death if it doesn’t rein in wilful officials (and priests are officials of the OCA, there’s no way around it). If the OCA Holy Synod doesn’t depose Raymond Velencia, and quickly, such inaction will have a negative impact on the Storheim case, no doubt on that. THE WINNIPEG MAGISTRATE KNOWS OF THIS FRIVOLOUS LAWSUIT… trust me on that. The only way to retrieve the situation is to shitcan RV, quickly and without mercy.

Here are the choices:

• Depose RV
• Support RV
• Do Nothing

The first course is logical, but that doesn’t mean that it’ll happen. I think the chances are less than 50-50, based on past performances. The second’s crackbrained, but it’s action… and it’d precipitate cognitive dissonances that could shake apart the OCA. I don’t give this a high level of probability, either. I think that the third course will occur. Why? James Paffhausen’s a pusillanimous juvenile; he’ll block the attempts of the Synod to act. In any case, Fathausen’s a believer in California New Age Affirmation, not Orthodox Christianity per se.

Expect NOTHING. If that’s what’s forthcoming, you should tailor your giving accordingly… if they do nothing… give nothing. If they run and hide, keep your money in your wallet. You’re a damned fool, otherwise…

Note this well… Storheim refused this plea… and Velencia filed this looney suit. They’re NOT unconnected, I believe. Fathausen is behind both of these oddbod decisions, I’m sure. A sane organisation would trade Storheim’s guilty plea for peace. A sane organisation would depose a loose cannon like Velencia.

I’d tell the Centre, “What more do you need? Step in, revoke the Tomos immediately, or more damage will be done”. What did we all do to deserve such shit?

Talerhof was an Austro-Hungarian concentration camp in existence between 4 September 1914 and 10 May 1917, in the early days of World War I. Its location was in a sandy valley at the foot of the Alps, near Graz, the main city of Steiermark. It was one of the first concentration camps in the history of the 20th century. The Hapsburg authorities deported actual and suspected Carpatho-Russian Russophiles from Galicia and Bukovina to Talerhof, usually due to denunciations from Roman Catholic Poles and Uniate Catholic Ukrainophile nationalist separatists. [1]

History of the Camp

The first batch of Russophiles from Galicia and Bukovina arrived in Graz on 4 September 1914, convoyed by soldiers. In September 1914, the Austrian authorities arrested virtually the entire Russophile-oriented Lemko intelligentsia. Among them were priests, lawyers, and cultural activists. The Hapsburgs suspected them of possible collaboration with the advancing Tsarist Russian Army that had invaded Galicia at the outset of World War I. In the winter months of early 1915, there were no barracks at Talerhof, so people slept on the ground under the open sky in the rain and cold. [2] According to the US Congressman  Joseph McCormick, prisoners were beaten and tortured. [3] In an official report on 9 November 1914, Schleer reported that Talerhof held 5,700 Russophiles. Of this total, around 1,915 people (according to other sources, up to 5,000) were Lemkos from 151 villages in the Lemkovshchyna. [4] Of those Lemkos incarcerated, 168 died, and numerous others had their health destroyed. The Hapsburgs imprisoned about 20,000 Galician and Bukovinian Russophiles at Talerhof during its time of operation; they killed nearly 3,000 prisoners only in the first half year. [2] According to the Galician public figure Dmitri Markov, the imperial authorities executed 3,800 people only in the first half of 1915. [5] In May 1917, a decree of the last Austro-Hungarian Emperor, Karl I, ordered the camp’s closure. The barracks at the camp site stood until 1936, when they were demolished. At the same time, the Austrians exhumed 1,767 corpses, which they reburied in a mass grave near the village of Feldkirchen. [4] Currently, Graz-Thalerhof airport stands on the site of the former concentration camp, obliterating all traces of the enormity committed here.

Fathausen and the konvertsy are squalling about notional lunacies such as “Pan-Orthodoxy”… and they’re going to do it at a papist venue. They can’t even do it on their own turf (click here for a saccharine post on oca.org… be warned… it’s offensively treacly). Let’s keep it focused. You can honour the martyrs of Talerhof and keep the Faith as they did, or, you can follow Fathausen and spit on the Lord Christ’s very image by sucking up to the heterodox… indeed, to the very group that murdered the Confessors and Martyrs of Talerhof. They’ve NEVER repented of it, and they never shall. Ergo, we should politely refuse all invitations to be part of their convocations… to go and observe, that’s fine; to participate in such, with the unrepentant murderers of our co-religionists… no, a thousand times, no! You can emulate the Martyrs of Talerhof and St Maksim Sandovich… or you can support Fathausen, Vassa Larina, John Behr, and Andrei Psaryov. The two positions are utterly incompatible… however, is that such a hard choice?

Metropolitan Vladimir Sabodan (1935- ) of Kiev and all the Ukraine, the First Hierarch of the UOC/MP

Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of Volokolamsk, the chairman of the MP Department for External Church Relations, visited Metropolitan Vladimir Sabodan of Kiev and all the Ukraine at a Kiev clinic. As reported on the official UOC/MP website, the visit took place on January 25. Metropolitan Hilarion wished Vladyki Vladimir a speedy recovery, he was accompanied by Archbishop Aleksandr Drabinko of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevsk, Metropolitan Vladimir’s secretary.

In late September, Metropolitan Vladimir went home from hospital, where he was recovering after undergoing surgery on 16 September for a hip fracture. In late October, he was again in hospital. In early December, he left the ICU and went to a rehabilitation ward. At the end of the month, his doctors discharged him from hospital. Currently, Metropolitan Vladimir is undergoing continuing treatment in a Kiev clinic.
