Svetilen specialises in singing medieval Russian spiritual songs. Na Iordane is an interesting mixture of Russian vocal technique with an instrumental accompaniment that’s redolent of Western Early Music. The second is an Old Russian song that’s been hijacked by Galician Uniates (usually, in very bad Westernised and bowdlerised versions)… do mistrust all “Ukrainian” nationalist claims… this song has Byelorussian roots, for instance. Svetilen has been around since 1989, keeping alive the Old Russian singing tradition. Like many good things, it started in Soviet times (just as many bad things, such as the oligarchs and buccaneer crapitalism came in after the Soviets fell). They take from both sources of spiritual singing… the Church and the folk tradition. They use Old Russian instruments and perform in Old Russian garb. They’ve had tremendous achievements on stage in France in 2001, in Austria and Czechia in 2003, and in Serbia (Belgrade) in 2004. Enjoy the sounds of the ancient Orthodox Russia.

The Voronezhskie Devchata (Voronezh Girls) are NOT “Ukrainian“ (Voronezh is in Great Russia proper), despite internet propaganda to the contrary. As you can hear and see, so-called “Ukrainian” usages aren’t unique; they’re part of the Greater Russian culture. Always suspect “Ukrainian” loudmouths… most are Uniate imposters, with no real roots in Great Russia (most real Ukrainians readily admit their ties to Russia… keep that in mind). The ensemble was founded by Konstantin Iraklievich Massalitin, People’s Artist of the USSR (of Jewish descent), in 1966. Over the years, this ensemble won many international, all-Union, and all-Russian competitions, widely-known in Russia and in many other countries, too. The repertoire of the ensemble centres around Russian lyrical song in all its variety.

00e Orthodox Christmas 2013. Belarus. Verbovichi. 12.01.13

Believers in Verbovichi (Gomel Oblast. Narovlya Raion), a town south-east of the Belarusian capital of Minsk, at Christmas services. Most Orthodox Christians follow the Julian Calendar for calculating the feasts of the Church Year. There isn’t any such thing as the “Revised Julian Calendar”… that’s just a cobbled-together pseudo-intellectual abortion consisting of the Julian Calendar for calculating Easter and the Gregorian Calendar for fixed feasts… neither fish nor fowl, it isn’t defensible in scholarly terms, nor is it logically-sound in its argument or application, and it shows a lack of charity towards the faithful majority of Orthodox believers who continue to follow the Received Tradition.

______________________________

Over 80 percent of all Orthodox Christians celebrated Christmas on its traditional date. The rest should reconsider their position. Don’t you want to be in union with the rest of Christ’s Church? What the heterodox do is of no moment to us… they do what they do, and that’s that, and it has NO relevance to the Church. There are three midwinter holidays called “Christmas”:

  • Xmas: C S Lewis used this term for the secular midwinter holiday… it’s a good distinction. When most people wish you “Merry Christmas”, this is what they refer to. Show them kindness and charity… say, “Thank you, and the same to you and yours”. Orthodox can keep this as a secular holiday… we keep all the rest of ‘em like the Fourth of July, Fête du Canada, Australia Day, and the May Day Bank Holiday, don’t we? In any case, to give your kids some gifts on this date is good, as it allows them not to feel out-of-place amongst their mates at school. It’s a secular bank-holiday… keep it as such.
  • Catholic Christmas: This is the 25 December religious holiday. The Proddies keep this date, too, as they’re the bastard children of Rome. This is a heterodox celebration, and the Church enjoins us to show respect to other religions and their believers. If you’re wished “Merry Christmas” in this sense, again, show charity (for that’s what Christ’s Church COMMANDS you to do), and say, “Thank you, and the same to you and yours”. Many religious people will be hip to the fact that Orthodox Christmas is a different day. Be kind… show respect to their holy day. Oh… don’t forget to break the opłatek with the Soloniewiczs down the street and get the scungilli and calamari for Nona Sophia next-door (she’ll call ‘em scungil and calamad in Sicilian). You might get an invite to the feast… accept and show your gratitude… that’s what real true-blue down n’ dirty Christians do.
  • Orthodox Christmas: This is on 7 January on the civil calendar for the rest of this century (it’ll be 8 January in 2100). Most Eastern and Oriental Orthodox believers keep this date; this is Orthosphere Christmas. Don’t you wish that all of us celebrated together on this day?

If you’re not keeping Orthodox Christmas… you should. Most Orthodox who follow Catholic Christmas are guiltless… they didn’t decide to do such… that was the work of notional and misguided heretics such as Meletios Metaxakis and Aleksandr Schmemann. All Russian Orthodox believers in the diaspora should follow the Mother Church… we should not only celebrate when she celebrates, we should be as one, and scrap all the foolish divisions that split us now. The OCA, Paris Exarchate, ROCOR, and MP Abroad are false and pernicious artificial constructs. We should be as one, under the omofor of our Mother Church. God willing, that day will be soon…

Acquittal of Haradinaj is a Slap in the Face

01 UCK Kosovo Liberation Army

______________________________

On 29 November, the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) acquitted former Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, accused of war crimes, for the second time. The Serbian government made a special statement saying that the not guilty verdict was scandalous. It called the verdict an indulgence for committed crimes and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. The Hague–based Tribunal acquitted Haradinaj in 2008 because the judges decided that there was insufficient evidence. However, his case went back to the ICTY for a new hearing at Serbia’s urgent request. Serbia said that some witnesses in the Haradinaj case were intimidated, and that many of them were simply eliminated. According to Belgrade, 30 witnesses and members of their families were killed from 1999 to 2011. Since the ICTY handed down its not guilty verdict to Haradinaj, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) made a special statement. It said that, for the first time in the history of international justice, the witnesses in this case were subjected to blatant blackmail, and very often simply eliminated. All this occurred in an atmosphere of complete impunity and with the connivance of international missions in Kosovo.

Dragan Stanojević, President of the United Serbian Diaspora in Eurasia, said, “For Serbs, the Hague Tribunal engenders cynicism because of its lack of justice. We should ask for the closure of the Hague Tribunal and ask for the reconsideration of its decisions, as well as holding trials of those who delivered such verdicts. All cooperation with the Hague Tribunal should be halted”. Again, the judges mentioned a lack of convincing evidence for convicting Haradinaj, who was one of the cruellest chieftains of the Albanian militants during the Kosovo War at the end of the 90s. He was involved in killing, torturing, raping, expelling, and persecuting the Serb population. Serbia opened 108 criminal cases involving murders and terrorism against him. In Kosovo, Haradinaj is one of the mafia godfathers. He controls arms, drugs, and gold smuggling.

Even former ICTY Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte said that she was shocked to hear the ruling of the Tribunal’s Chamber of Appeal. Aleksandr Karasev, an expert with the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said, “It’s not objective. According to it, all Serbs receive punishment, whilst it acquits all the rest. The Hague Tribunal had the task of creating a legal justification of the actions that were carried out by NATO and the USA in the Balkans, and the ICTY Tribunal fulfilled this task”. Two-thirds of the cases involved Serbs, and two-thirds of those convicted are Serbs too. Current forecasts are that, after his acquittal, Haradinaj will have a first-class political career. According to media reports, behind-the scenes talks about a possible coalition of Haradinaj’s party, the Alliance For the Future of Kosovo, with the Democratic Party of Kosovo led by the current Kosovo Prime Minister (and Haradinaj’s good friend) Hashim Thaçi are presently underway.

Karadžić Begins Defence in War Crimes Trial

In case you’ve forgotten, THIS is what Wet Willy’s neocon advisers want in the Balkans… and what Radovan Karadžić fought against…

______________________________

On Tuesday, former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadžić began his defence against allegations of war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague, saying, “I should’ve been rewarded for all the good things that I’ve done, because I did everything within human power to avoid the war and to reduce the human suffering”. He’s been given 300 hours for his defence, an equal amount of time as given to the prosecution.

He stands accused of ten counts of crimes including one charge of genocide, murder, inhumane acts, unlawful attack on civilians, and hostage-taking during the conflicts that erupted in the Balkans in the 1990s. In September, the ICTY rejected his request for a retrial. The trial started on 26 October 2009 and has had repeated delays. Karadžić maintains that he isn’t guilty. In June, one genocide charge against him was dropped due to insufficient evidence. However, the court refused to dismiss a second genocide charge, which relates to the murders of up to 8,000 men and boys at Srebrenica in 1995. Initially indicted in 1995, he spent 13 years in hiding in hiding before being arrested in Belgrade in 2008.

Editor’s Note:

Even though both interventionist Democrats and neoconRepublicans have an unreasoning and demonic hatred of Serbs, the latter are worse. Indeed, they’re so much so that a vote for Romney is a vote for kicking our Serb co-religionists full-force in the face until the blood and gore fly. NO Real Orthodox believer should cooperate in such wickedness… no Real Orthodox believer should be able to do such evil. What does that tell us about the konvertsy and the Far Right ethnics who suck up to them? They ADORE the Far Right lunatics who want to bomb the whole world… not only poor little Serbia. None dare call it diabolical…
