8 May 2013. Here’s the Official Schedule for the Memorial Day Pilgrimage at St T’s

St Tikhon's 05.12

______________________________

Here’s the official listing for the Memorial Day Pilgrimage at St T‘s (there’s an article for the monastery in the Russian Wikipedia, but NOT in the English one… it looks like SVS/Syosset is trying to whitewash history):

Monday, May 27, 2013

  • 07.30 Divine Liturgy, Monastery Church
  • 10.00 Hierarchical Divine Liturgy
  • 12.00 Veteran’s Pannikhida and Memorial Service, All Saints Bell Tower
  • 13.30 Akathist to St Aleksei Tóth in the Monastery Church (NB: The Russian Wikipedia article is more complete than the English one is… shame on the OCA)
  • 14.30 Molieben to the Most Holy Theotokos and Anointing of the Sick,
Infirm, and all Pilgrims at the Monastery Bell Tower
  • 16.00 Vespers and Matins in the Monastery Church

All times are Eastern Daylight Time

For the entire schedule of the weekend, click here. God willing, it’ll be better than the last couple of times. Of course, the question remains… is Mollard going to allow Feodosy and JP to serve with him? Is Mollard going to have some sort of role for his sugar daddy Herman? Perspirin’ minds wanna know…

17 March 2013. Moriak Served in Konvertsy Parish in Chicago… Are the Dippy Semi-Anglicans Going Off on Their Own Tangent?

00 Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church. Chicago IL. OCA. 17.03.13

______________________________

I got this from one of the Cabinet:

Mathias Moriak will serve today; supposedly, this is only a “one time exemption”, but that has NOT been confirmed. I received:

His Grace, Bishop Matthias, will celebrate the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Christ the Saviour Church tomorrow at 09.30.

Priest John Baker

Rector and Dean, Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church

******

If Moriak wasn’t supposed to serve because of his known and open sexual “missteps”, then, the konvertsy are in absolute contempt of the OCA HS in particular and of the Holy Church in general. They’ve no intention of giving up their champion… he agrees with their oddbod political and social notions. That’s how they are… they were rebellious troublemakers amongst the Anglicans; they’re rebellious troublemakers amongst us. Yet, they rattle on about “tradition” and the “ancient church”. That’s not true in the least… they’re nothing but wilful spoilt children whom we shouldn’t coddle or cosset. Go figure… they’re going to leave us (for we’re not “good enough” for their perfect selves); that can’t come soon enough for me (and for many others, too), but they’re going to be a Royal Pain in the Arse until then. There’s nothing that you or I can do of it… have a drink… but don’t argue with them, for all that’s holy. They’re wedded to their notional fantasies, and Christ and all of His Saints couldn’t dissuade them; so, sinners such as me and you can’t either. They won’t be with us for long (in historical terms)… it’ll only seem like FOREVER.

15 February 2013. The Bobby K Pot Burbles On… Still Silence on Monomuckos… Are the Konvertsy Struck Dumb by All of This?

theft-cover

The following message appears on a Flickr set (one of the Cabinet clued me in to this), and one of the Cabinet made some comments on it:

“On Sunday, 17 June 2012, Holy Spirit Orthodox Church celebrated the Divine Liturgy, followed by a luncheon in celebration of Father’s Day. We also wished parishioners Greg and Lea Ann Bochnak and Nina Kor farewell as they will be moving away”. Elsewhere, Greg Bochnak is identified as the parish treasurer. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s report indicates that the suspect kited unauthorised checks from 24 June 2012 to 28 December 2012. Isn’t it remarkable that according to the parish photo gallery, the parishioners bade farewell to their treasurer on 17 June 2012? The unidentified suspect must have discovered a window of opportunity.

That means that Bobby “fished” 54 Gs from the parish treasury in only six months. That smells as if he was covering legal bills for his son (who’s facing a fraud rap on the Island). Bobby’s accused of embezzling… his son’s accused of running a Ponzi scheme… my, my, my… what continuity! The apple sure didn’t fall far from the tree (or, the tree sure isn’t far from the apple it dropped). It smells as if the OCA Holy Synod didn’t press charges against Bobby for all the wrong reasons. Certainly, the evidence was there… now, the OCA Holy Synod should apologise publicly to the members of the SIC, especially, Fr John Reeves, for the calumnies that Bobby and his claque threw at them. In reference to that, this was seen on Monomuckos:

Is it possible that I alone have been reading for days that Protopresbyter Rodion Kondratik, is again accused of embezzling church funds to the tune of 54,000 bucks (1.63 million Roubles. 40,500 Euros. 35,000 UK Pounds)?! He, who is the key to healing for the OCA, is banned by court order from entering his own parish? Holy Cow! And not a peep from Monomakhos? Perhaps, not enough evidence? Too much “conjecture” for your taste? Somehow, I’m thinking if the protagonist had been Protodeacon Wheeler or Fr Chancellor, the cancer and tipping point would be 30-feet-deep! You wouldn’t be selectively excluding news that doesn’t fit your story, would you, Mr Michalopulos?

Indeed. I expect Jillions, Tosi, Dahulich, and Peterson to do their best to “bury” this. Tosi is running about irresponsibly accusing this one and that one of all of sundry… that means that the First Families are scared shitless (Potapov’s screed against Stalin is another symptom of the First Family malaise, albeit of a different sort). What do I expect? In the immediate near term, NOTHING from the OCA Holy Synod, with Mollard grinning an idiot’s grin whilst he plays with his little dog on Free Wednesdays. As for what’ll happen in the later term, that’s up to us… which means that we all have a decision to make.

More Than 82,000 Muscovites Took the Epiphany Plunge in Icy Water

00 Russia. Moscow. Epiphany. 19.01.13

______________________________

A spokesman for the Moscow division of the MChS said early Saturday that more than 82,000 Muscovites immersed themselves in icy cold water to mark Epiphany, as still air temperature in the Russian capital stood at -13 degrees (+8.6 degrees Fahrenheit). Epiphany, also known as Theophany, is one of the Twelve Great Feasts, marking the baptism of Jesus Christ by St John the Baptist in the River Jordan at the beginning of His ministry. The Orthodox Church celebrates the holiday on 19 January, in line with the Julian calendar. Honouring an old Russian tradition, cross-shaped holes are cut into the ice covering lakes and rivers, and believers plunge into the water, typically, three times, in honour of the Holy Trinity, at around midnight, often after an attending priest says prayers.

On Saturday, police sources told us that they dispatched about 3,500 personnel to maintain order overnight, and they said that no one reported any major incidents. More than 50 Epiphany immersion sites were set up across Moscow, where Orthodox priests blessed the waters during the night, with 260 MChS first responders monitoring the safety at the locations.

A particular feature of the feast is the rite of the Great Blessing of the Waters, performed in Orthodox churches twice… on 18 January, on the eve of the feast, and on Epiphany proper, after Divine Liturgy. Then, the clergy give the holy water to the believers, who store it for long periods and use it to cure illnesses and bless themselves or things and premises around them. Some people think that any water… even from the taps on the kitchen sink… poured or bottled on Epiphany becomes holy.
