P-U! The RIA translator screwed up again! Британские ученые наблюдают за тобой isn’t Facebook “Likes” Reveal a Lot, Study Finds. The latter is a new title, it isn’t a translation of what Yolkin was trying to convey. Yolkin’s tongue-in-cheek raffishness is completely lost… and one CAN convey it in English. It’s one of Yolkin’s earthy and leering worldly-wise observations… the translator completely trashed it. I hope that they’re GONE… and soon…

British IT wonks have developed an algorithm that allows one to determine the sex, age, and other information about Facebook users who utilise the “like” function with uncanny accurately. That inspired this cartoon from Sergei Yolkin. What you like on Facebook says a lot about you and can even give away your secrets, according to a Cambridge University study published online. In the study, researchers revealed how they were able to guess accurately the gender, personality type, IQ, political views, and the sexual orientation of individuals based on what these 58,000 users of the popular social network decided to “like” on Facebook.

The authors of an article published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences pointed up that the spread of social networking site Facebook isn’t subject to the traditional “biological” understanding of contagion, for the probability of joining the network isn’t determined by the number already “infected” in the environment and its heterogeneity.
