Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus Sez: “We Should Withdraw from the Union”

01a Chrysostomos Kirill 01.11

______________________________

Archbishop Chrysostomos Demetriou of Nova Justiniana and all Cyprus said that his country should withdraw from the EU, as the EU would cease to exist in the future, as its coming apart. Vladyki Chrysostomos said in an interview with Pervy Kanal (Первый канал: Channel One), “Currently, the economies of Spain, Portugal, and Italy are in danger. If the Italian economy goes down, just like our economy, the EU won’t withstand it. The people who rule the EU, particularly, those making decisions in the so-called troika, don’t understand many things; that’ll lead to the collapse of the EU. This is why I believe we [Cyprus] should withdraw from the union before the collapse takes place”.

On Monday, the finance ministers of the 17-nation Eurozone agreed to a 10-billion Euro (399 billion Roubles. 12.9 billion USD. 8.5 billion UK Pounds) deal for Cyprus to rescue the island nation and its oversized banking sector from financial collapse. The new deal forces the holders of accounts of over 100,000 Euros (3.99 million Roubles. 128,400 USD. 84,300 UK Pounds) to take losses that could amount to 30 to 40 percent of their deposits. The ministers expect the new deal to yield some 4.2 billion Euros (137.5 billion Roubles. 5.4 billion USD. 3.5 billion UK Pounds) to allow Cyprus, which is currently teetering on the brink of default, to obtain 10 billion Euros in financial aid from the troika of international lenders. The so-called troika of creditors are the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission, and the ECB.

On Friday, 15 February 2013, Asteroid 2012 DA14 will make its nearest approach to the Earth. Our Infographic shows the asteroids that will come closest to Earth in the next 200 years. To date, scientists have found hundreds of thousands of asteroids in the solar system. Collision of an asteroid with the Earth could cause fires, an earthquake, and/or a tsunami. According to some theories, the cause of past mass extinctions was the falling of celestial bodies on the planet.

On Friday, 15 February 2013 at 19.25 UTC (11.25 PST 14.25 EST 23.25 MSK 06.25 16 February AEST) Asteroid 2012 DA14, discovered in February 2012 by astronomers at the Observatorio Astronómico de La Sagra in Spainwill make its closest approach to the Earth, 27,700 kilometres (17,200 miles) above the earth’s surface, which is much lower than geostationary satellites (35,800 kilometres (22,500 miles)). It would be the largest celestial body that has come so close to the Earth on record. The mass of the asteroid is about 190,000 tons (210,000 US tons), and the explosion that would occur in the event of its fall to Earth would be comparable to the Tunguska event.

In Spain, there’s a small town in Valencia called Ibi. It doesn’t have much in the way of historical sites; it sure isn’t a typical resort with luxury hotels. Nevertheless, the town has an interesting tradition that annually draws in tourists and journalists. The town holds a flour war. Yep, every year, on 28 December, the town’s almost completely covered with flour by the time it’s all over. The festival of Els Enfarinats is part of the celebrations of the Day of the Innocents. The tradition is over 200 years old, and had its modern revival in 1981. It’s part of the Twelve Days of Christmas

It’s clear that all concerned have tons of fun. How much vino español flows during this, I wonder? Truly, you can’t make shit like this up…

Palaeontologists said in a paper published in the journal Naturwissenschaften that Neanderthals who lived in the Cueva de El Sidrón (Piloña Municipality. Autonomous Community of Asturias) in northern Spain had a primitive knowledge of herbalism and knew about the healing properties of chamomile and yarrow, as indicated by traces of plant sugars in petrified plaque on their teeth.
