19 November 2011. Yes, Virginia, There WAS a St Platon Seminary… We Lost it Due to Incompetent Bishops and Bad Loans… Sound Familiar?

______________________________

The above image shows St Platon Russian Orthodox Seminary in Tenafly NJ sometime before 1920. I’d tell people that although lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place in nature, it does amongst people, as we too often refuse to learn from our elders’ mistakes. As Prince Otto von Bismarck put it:

You’re all idiots… you all think that you learn from your experiences; I prefer to learn from other people’s errors, then, I’ll avoid their mistakes myself.

The Iron Chancellor’s right… do ask questions about the Honesdale Loan and how its secured… do ask questions about the questionable “reduction” in assessments” passed at the recent Sobor in Seattle (it’s worded so vaguely that the OCA could go to court and claim that they’re not bound by it)… and do make sure that your parish’s property and bank accounts are safe from Syosset’s minions (including many priests… they’re not bad… they’re simply weak reeds). The Metropolia lost this prime property in a chi-chi neighbourhood due to dodgy loans and clueless bishops. That sounds much too much like today for comfort, doesn’t it? Remember, the Church lost about six hectares (@14.5 acres) of primo real estate the last time… what’ll they lose this time? After all, they probably “had” to borrow to pay Dickie Wood’s tab at the Vanil Restoran (Moscow’s notorious for its high prices)… I wonder what Alexander Lebedeff would say about THAT use of the “widow’s mite”… perspirin’ minds DO wanna know!

18 November 2011. A Distant Image Glimpsed Darkly… St Platon’s DID Exist…

More “slices of life” from the former St Platon Seminary in Tenafly NJ. The future Fr Hubiak père is at the left of the above image…

Remember why St Platon’s had to close in 1924. The closure was due to bad loans made by Archbishop Alekdandr Nemolovsky. Shades of the Honesdale Loan, isn’t it? Note well that the OCA central apparat is STILL secretive about finances… and where is the OCA getting the money to pay for JP’s “evaluation?” If we don’t pay close attention, it’ll be “back to the future” time, again. What would we lose this time around? Oh… do make certain that Syosset has NO access to your accounts and funds… one should be prudent, after all…

A Kind Note to an Enquirer:

Due to caution (and to protect my sources), I don’t give out my e-mail address, and I NEVER give out my contacts’ names and e-mail addresses. If you’re innocent, so be it, but I have to protect myself and my friends from the likes of Karlgut, Piggy Iggy, Velencia, JP, Reardon, and Bobby. We live in “interesting times”, unfortunately…

17 November 2011. Yes, Virginia, There was a St Platon Russian Orthodox Seminary in Tenafly NJ

The above image shows the iconostas at St Platon Russian Orthodox Seminary in Tenafly NJ. The Church lost the seminary after the Russian Revolution, because of the clueless incompetence of Archbishop Aleksandr Nemolovsky, the ruling ordinary at the time. Nemolovsky was the equal of JP in incompetence and dithering, but he wasn’t as nasty in personality (he was more an inconstant milquetoast than a blustering ignorant dolt). This iconostas still exists; it’s in the OCA parish in Bayonne NJ… I wonder how many know the history of this iconostas? If only objects could talk…

The above image shows St Platon Russian Orthodox Seminary String Orchestra in 1918. At the centre, to the right of Fr Vladimir Prislopsky (the guy with the balalaika), is Fr Joseph Pishtey. At the extreme left is Fr Dmitri Ressetar. Little did they know what was about to happen…

In short, the OCA/Metropolia survived an incompetent and boobish fool as First Hierarch before. It shall do so again, no doubt. However, I wouldn’t bet on the konvertsy being amongst us at the end of it all. I think that the chances of them flouncing off to form their own “pure” conventicle à la the Old Ritualists is VERY high, indeed. Frankly, it can’t happen soon enough to suit me…
