Tenth anniversary of MP Involvement in Thailand

St Nicholas Russian Orthodox church in Bangkok

The Moscow Patriarchate has been involved in Thailand for a decade. Celebratory events are slated for Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket. Archbishop Hilarion Alfeyev of Volokolamsk, Head of the MP Department of External Church Relations and Archbishop Ioann Popov of Belgorod and Stary Oskol served Liturgy at St Nicholas church in the Thai capital. St Nicholas was the first mission parish of the MP (and of the Orthodox Church, as well) in Thailand. Its location is in the city centre near the royal palace. The first Thai priest, Fr Daniel Wanna, is attached to this parish. On Sunday, another Orthodox parish, All Saints, shall open in the kingdom in Pattaya, the most popular resort in Thailand.

Police Found Laura Dekker in St Maarten in the West Indies

Laura Dekker (1995- ), her attempt to circumnavigate the world single-handed was foiled by the courts and “child Welfare” experts… I say, “Let her sail… she knows the risks. We need courageous people in the world, not weaselly wimps and cowards”.

Police found 14-year-old Laura Decker, who was found missing on Friday, on the island of St Maarten in the Caribbean Sea. Associated Press reported this on Monday, citing local media reports. Her relatives reported her missing in the Dutch city of Utrecht on 18 December. No one knows how she got to an island in the Caribbean. In September, Laura Decker had intended to set off on a solo circumnavigation of the world. If her plans were to come to fruition, she would become the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe. Today, the youngest sailor who has single-handedly circumnavigated the globe is 17-year-old Zack Sunderland from the USA.

St Nicholas Day Passed Me By… Egg on my Face!

I had an image lined up and all the rest… and I FORGOT that yesterday was St Nicholas Day. Can you excuse me if I told you that I was consoling my Nicky… he was blue because he hadn’t heard from his family. Well… GOOD NEWS! He had a nice chat with his mom on the phone and his sister Christina rang him up tonight. RELIEF!

To all of you named Nicholas or Nicole or Nicolette out there: HAPPY ANGEL DAY. Will you still be my friend (I feel so much like Toad in the Frog and Toad stories right now)?
