Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of Moscow and all the Russias (1946- ) greeting believers at Sandarmokh in Karelia, a burial site of the victims of the Stalinist repressions.

Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of Moscow and all the Russias noted that gardening’s a noble occupation, and he would’ve been happy to follow that line of work. On Thursday, at a meeting in the musical theatre in Petrozavodsk, he said, “I have a bent for, and I think that I would’ve liked working at gardening. I truly like to plant flowers and to keep lawns neat and trim. I’m always pained by ugliness when I see it on the streets”. In his view, when someone works at gardening, they “directly cooperate with God in the perfection of God’s creation”. In addition, he spoke very highly of the work done by foresters, since they have an opportunity, “especially in places such as Karelia, to ensure that loggers not only cut down trees in the forest, but plant more to replace them, so that we don’t destroy our natural resources, but keep them replenished”. The patriarch called on everyone, especially young people choosing a profession, to reflect on the fact that one’s work “allows one to reach an understanding of the divine purpose of life”. In his opinion, the desire to earn money through work may be appropriate and pleasing to God, if a person wants to share their wealth with the poor and disadvantaged, but he said, “However, the desire for wealth won’t lead to anything good, if a man says, ‘I just want to live well… look how beautiful it is at the Cannes Film Festival… why, there’s one of our Russian businessman walking with a little black photo model!’ This ‘man of affairs’, what shall he do? Is he going to implement God’s purpose? He destroys his own soul, his money burns him up”. He observed that he never saw a happy man with personal goals based on permissiveness and perversion.

Editor’s Note:
It’s Slappy the Squirrel with a gift for the Interfax translator. Hey, that looks like a bomb! … BOOM! … It WAS a bomb (maniacal laughter from Slappy). “NOW, THAT’S COMEDY!” Appropriate, no?

Here she comes… not Miss America… hey, it’s Ellen Szczwazynski from Pittsburgh (from the East Carnegie nabe, to be exact (her old man runs Swazy’s Tap))… better known as Elly Swaz. What is she carrying? Is it the prize for the Pierogie Race at the Bucs game? NO! It’s the… BIG GREEN WEENIE!
My version runs 307 words… Interfax gives you only 161, cutting out nearly half of what His Holiness said. They cut out:
In his opinion, the desire to earn money through work may be appropriate and pleasing to God, if a person wants to share their wealth with the poor and disadvantaged, but he said, “However, the desire for wealth won’t lead to anything good, if a man says, ‘I just want to live well… look how beautiful it is at the Cannes Film Festival… why, there’s one of our Russian businessman walking with a little black photo model!’ This ‘man of affairs’, what shall he do? Is he going to implement God’s purpose? He destroys his own soul, his money burns him up”.
Rather hefty and meaty, no? In fact, it’s the main point that His Holiness wanted to make! This is why the Anglophone konvertsy are so ignorant… they depend on English sources that are either incomplete or suspect (in the case of SVS and the Boy Wonder, especially).

I’ll tell ya… the Interfax translator has a racket… they leave out half the material and do it badly… it must be somebody’s doofus brother-in-law or retarded cousin. Homer Simpson lives… and he translates for Interfax! Now, that’s a scary thought, isn’t it? Cheers to all of you.
