Ramadan Tent Opens on Poklonnaya Gora

In Moscow, the official opening of the Ramadan Tent on Poklonnaya Gora was held on Thursday evening. This is an annual cultural and charity event, held by the Council of Muftis of Russia with the cooperation of Moscow municipal authorities. The “tent’s” purpose is to expose visitors to the culture of the Muslim peoples, to give a presentation on Islam and its traditions, and to strengthen friendship between people of different religions. “Our intent is to spread peace, tranquillity, brotherhood, and friendship, so, God will bless us”, said Mufti Ravil Gainutdin, the chairman of the Council of Muftis in Russia at the opening event. One of the most prominent clergymen in the MP came and conveyed greetings to the Muslims [from Orthodox  Christians]. “The fact that we share the joy of our holidays with each other means that we in Russia have a special and very good relationship, there’s peaceful coexistence between people of different religions”, said Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the head of the MP Synodal Division for Church and Public Relations. For two weeks, until the end of Ramadan, the tent will offer hot dinners to all comers. According to statistics, last year, about 500-600 people ate dinner in the tent each day it was open. Several hundred guests attended the opening ceremonies at the tent.

Mufti Ravil Gainutdin, President of the Council of Muftis in Russia, is convinced that the canons of Islam don’t impede the integration of Muslims into European society. “Islam has adapted itself to live in a modern globalised world”, Mufti Ravil told journalists on Thursday evening at the opening of the Ramadan Tent on Poklonnaya Gora. In his view, it’s not only impossible to change Islam, it’s unnecessary, because its teachings contain everything that a Muslim needs to live “at any time, in any community, amongst any other culture or tradition”. According to Mufti Ravil, “To do this, we only need goodwill from our partners, so that they can know Islam, so they can cooperate with Muslims. We have a Creator, one Maker, and we must cooperate and collaborate, so that there is  mutual understanding and brotherhood between us”, he said.

Editor’s Note:

THIS is what Orthodoxy believes… THIS is what Orthodoxy holds up as an exemplar for all of us. Observe what Fr Vsevolod did… you must do likewise. The lady or the tiger? Orthodoxy or the Tea Party? Do choose well…

By the way… the Ramadan Tent is pitched on Poklonnaya Gora, the memorial park to the fallen of the Second Great Patriotic War against the Fascists. That is, it’s pitched on a VERY significant and sacred site. Think on THAT as you make up your mind…

Fr Vsevolod Chaplin Condemned Price Speculators and Rumourmongers

Dontcha know! GREED IS GOOD! The Tea Party said so…

______________________________

Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, President of the MP Synodal Division for Church and Public Relations, called us to condemn those who indiscriminately increased prices for food and sowed panic amongst the people. “People need to explicitly say that these actions were disgraceful, they were repellent and immoral actions caused by those who created a panic in order to ensure that there would be a crazy and excessive demand for certain goods”, he said Friday at a roundtable discussion on the situation in the food market in Russia. Fr Vsevolod urged the authorities to abandon their “market fundamentalism and dogmatism” and use innovative and creative approaches, yet without using the situation to “promote a return to some of the more populist features of the Soviet economy”. In his view, special assistance should go to those who cannot provide for themselves… pensioners, the disabled, people living in isolated circumstances, as well as those who are in social institutions, orphanages, and nursing homes.

Fr Vsevolod said that the introduction of food cards would be a laudable idea, which would allow for a reduced price or free distribution of certain products, and encouraged us not to fear such a step. “This measure shouldn’t be wrongfully equated with the Soviet ration coupons and cards of the war period. This measure is quite feasible, just as it’s possible to purchase food at special prices for social institutions”, he said, emphasising that the federal government should deal with such a matter . In addition, according to Fr Vsevolod, farmers need focused state subsidies, as higher prices for food may lead to a mass slaughter of cattle, the consequences of which we would feel for many years. “you have to think things through without panic, without using this situation for political purposes, without using people’s tragedy to make a profit, so as to take care of our people, to give them confidence that our country would survive all its problems, as it experienced such in the past and it shall survive such in future, too”,  he said.

Editor’s Note:

FR VSEVOLOD IS THE BOMB! He stomps on both unbridled capitalism and unthinking Marxism. The Tea Party would consider his views “pure socialism”, but that only emphasises their evil emphasis on profit and capital. Note:

Fr Vsevolod urged the authorities to abandon their “market fundamentalism and dogmatism” and use innovative and creative approaches, yet without using the situation to “promote a return to some of the more populist features of the Soviet economy”.

Fr Vsevolod would condemn the Tea Party approach unreservedly and without equivocation (he would also be critical of unwatered “Progressivism” as well). The Tea Party rhetoric is that if the government leaves capitalists alone and taxes them lightly, the whole society benefits. That’s been tried three times, and each time it was a failure. The first was in the Gilded Age of the 1890s… that era ended with the Income Tax… it didn’t end in collapse in the US (in Europe, it led to the Collapse of the Three Great Empires). The second ended in the crash of 1929, and the third in the crash of 2007. It doesn’t work… history proves it.

Remember this… Fr Vsevolod is perhaps the closest confidant of His Holiness… if Fr Vsevolod speaks, you can be certain that he’s speaking KMG’s opinion, too. That means that the leading thinkers of the Russian Orthodox Church condemn the principles behind the Tea Party. It means that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill condemns them. Who supports the Tea Party? Let’s see… Jonas Paffhausen… the konvertsy (especially the former Anglicans)… ecclesial freebooters like Iggie Burdikoff. Whom do you wish to be associated with? Do you want to stand with His Holiness, Fr Vsevolod, and the members of the grounded Russian Church; or, do you wish to be associated with barely converted Anglicans still in their nappies, Mormon-lovers, Sectarian copycats, HOOMie cultists, and a “metropolitan” whose link to reality is openly questioned? I know where I stand. It’s a no-brainer, isn’t it?

Fearless Mice

A team of researchers from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Monterotondo (Italy), led by Cornelius Gross, identified parts of the brain of mice that trigger different mechanisms of their behaviour in case of danger… forcing the rodents to freeze, then, actively seek the source of the threat, and look for ways to avoid it. The study can help in dealing with stress in humans. In one experiment, scientists managed to block the electrical activity of neurons. This led to a radical change of strategy in the animal’s behaviour in the event of a sense of fear… rather than freeze in place, mouse heard a familiar sound, began to look around, and stood up on his hind legs, trying to identify the source of the threat. “Mice didn’t cease to be fearful, but they went from a passive to an active strategy of behaviour, a quite unexpected result”, Gross said, as quoted by the press office of the laboratory. The authors note that active and passive behaviour under the influence of fear is typical of people, too; so, therefore, if we understand how to control this behaviour, we can use it to help people who confront stressful situations in their lives on a daily basis.

A study revealed why drunken men find women more attractive after consuming alcohol. Scientists have uncovered the secret for this phenomenon, proving that alcohol reduces people’s ability to detect symmetrical features, which tend to be more attractive, Discovery News reported. Scientists from London’s Roehampton University uncovered the secret of “beer goggles” after carrying out an unusual experiment. They chose 64 students, both drunk and sober, and showed them photos of different girls with symmetrical and asymmetrical features and asked them to indicate which of them was more attractive. The study showed that drunken students found almost all the girls attractive, whilst sober students found symmetrical faces more attractive and were able to identify their shortcomings.
