Gregory Jensen Claims to be a “Psychologist”… His CV Says Otherwise… The Man is an Utter Phoney and Poseur

Here’s a good illustration of Mr Jensen and his ilk… he’s a “psychologist” without a degree and a priest without a proper MDiv… in short, a flim-flam man (is he one of the Tea Party bloviators? Perspirin’ minds wanna know).

Gregory Jensen claims to be a “psychologist”… is he? Here’s a source for his CV:

http://www.linkedin.com/in/frgregoryj

Firstly, what’s a psychologist? Here’s some information from Wikipedia:

Outside of government and academia, a professional in the US or Canada must also hold a psychology license to either practise psychology or use the title “psychologist”. Currently, all (State) jurisdictions have laws that limit the use of the term “psychologist” to those who are licensed or who are specifically exempt, as in an exempt setting.

Full membership with the American Psychological Association in the United States and Canada requires doctoral training, whereas associate membership requires at least two years of postgraduate studies in psychology or approved related discipline. The minimal requirement for full membership can be waived in certain circumstances where there is evidence that significant contribution or performance in the field of psychology has been made.

According to his CV, Mr Jensen’s only formal academic background in psychology is a BA, which isn’t sufficient for professional certification and incardination. To reiterate, Mr Jensen lacks a graduate degree in psychology, which is required for licensure as a clinical psychologist. He also lacks any stated clinical internship, which correspondents assure me is necessary in this field. That is to say, Mr Jensen must withdraw immediately from any work in the OCA as a “psychologist”, as he lacks the requisite academic background, clinical experience, professional licensing, and membership in the relevant peer organisation (in this case, the American Psychological Association). I doubt that Mr Jensen’s claim to be a full member of the APA is valid… he lacks the minimum qualifications. I’m told that he’s probably an adjunct member, which isn’t the same thing at all… he’s probably in there as an “expert” in Christian counselling (again, his CV lacks the credentialisation necessary for full APA membership)

Another interesting wrinkle is that Mr Jensen lacks an MDiv, which is the usual professional degree for clergy in the USA and Canada. An MA in Theology lacks the pastoral and professional courses mandated for the issuance of the MDiv. Moreover, according to his CV, Mr Jensen has NO Orthodox seminary formation whatsoever. Furthermore, he did his MA work prior to his reception into the Orthodox Church. His PhD is under non-Orthodox auspices… he has NO academic background at any real Orthodox university/seminary (as Holy Cross in Brookline MA or PSTGU in Moscow). However, there is a very interesting note… for two years, 2001-03, he was an “adjunct instructor” at Shasta College in Redding CA. Redding CA is very close to Platina CA… that means that Mr Jensen probably hung out with the sodomite Gleb Podmoshensky’s scurvy lot at St Herman’s… Paffhausen did as well, so, that’s no stretch, is it? Interesting… Paffhausen refuses to come clean on his relationship with Podmoshensky, who has links to credible child abuse charges… so does Jensen. It does put a different spin on his screed of today, doesn’t it?

Lastly, Mr Jensen has no call to label himself a “scholar”… that implies that he’s a full-time faculty member at some sort of higher educational institution. He strikes out here, too… he’s not a Full Professor… he’s not an Assistant or Associate Professor… he’s not even an Instructor… all he’s ever been is adjunct faculty, which everyone knows is the lowest level of the academic food chain.

In short, Mr Jensen is a phoney all the way around… it’s like paying to see the Kentucky Derby and getting the Pittsburgh Pirate’s Pierogie Race instead. To be sure, the latter is a lotta fun… but it’s not the Kentucky Derby! I’d say to SM (you know who you are)… lodge a complaint with your professional association about this poseur… he’s making all of you look like shmidiots and fools. If this is the best that Paffhausen can come up with… pass me the jug, I need a hit… SM, take one too and pass it ‘round to the rest of the crowd, we all need a swallow of something good. God DO help us.

The Full Enormity of What Jensen Said is Sinking In…

Fallen Angel

Fr Vladislav Provotorov

I was thinking about Jensen’s vicious little post… it smarmily accuses as liars and cheats those who have come forward with allegations of child abuse; yet, it refuses to say so directly. That’s low, even by the debased standards that obtain in American Orthodoxy. Are we to suppose that this is the new face of clergy misconduct investigations? Truly? Until the Church proves that it cares for and protects alleged victims anywhere as well as it evidently cares for and protects its clergy, Mr Jensen has no business posting such a thing. After all, Raymond Velencia suffered no censure… he’s serving, with Paffhausen’s drooling blessing, at St Nicholas Cathedral in Washington DC (that’s close enough so that all his fans in Maryland can keep in touch with him). Velencia and Paffhausen are serving at the same parish… ergo, Jonas Paffhausen finds Velencia not only acceptable, but a worthy colleague in the Mysteries (just as JP found Isidore Brittain worthy in spite of suspension by the OCA Holy Synod). In fact, it’s harmful. It isn’t a balanced representation of clergy misconduct investigations in the OCA, or any other body in Orthodoxy in America, far from it. Where did his post note the harm to victims that comes when clergy falsely accuse them of all manner of wrongdoing, on top of their abuse, even if those allegations find ultimate dismissal? Where did his post state the Church’s miserable failure at ministering to alleged victims? Where did it acknowledge that, usually, fellow clergy and most laity would go to great lengths to stick their heads in the sand and avoid reality when faced with misconduct allegations regarding any priest? Where did he note professional peer-reviewed studies showing that false allegations, empirically speaking, are a rarity?

Mr Jensen claims to be a psychologist… this means that he’s not conversant with the professional literature of his supposed speciality. He dared to post such an innuendo-laden accusation during the enquiry into the behaviour of Seraphim Storheim, leading one to assume that he believes that the present investigation is a farrago of lies and false accusations. He’s proven himself nothing but Paffhausen’s mouthpiece and shill… false allegations, yadda, yadda, yadda. What’s the matter with our Church? Denial of the situation isn’t going to help matters when it all comes home to roost. We don’t wish to face our true history… and I don’t mean just facing up to the allegations of sodomy and paedophilia that have been around for quite some time. After all, Podmoshensky, l’Huillier, Metropoulos, and Storheim are only the tip of that scabrous iceberg. We’ve routinely lied about our entire past… I’m thinking in particular of Aleksandr Schmemann and Vitaly Ustinov. That’s really another post altogether… how both the OCA and ROCOR embarked on the downhill slope since 1965 after the death of Leonty Turkevich, and after the retirement of Anastassy Gribanovsky.

Jensen’s tirade wasn’t “good karma”… as a priest abroad said to me of the video made by Seraphim’s supporters, “it looks like they’re going down the tubes”. It shall NOT be easy in the short term… both the OCA AND the ROCOR are mortally ill. It’ll be difficult to rebuild after both edifices fall… but rebuild we must… and we SHALL. I’d advise most of you to stay out of the storm that’s brewing… you don’t know enough to be effective. Leave it to us old hands… we’re not only knowledgeable… we’re been scarred by the apparatchiki, so, we’ve no squeamishness about putting this sick creature down. Take heart… they’ve got the internet at the Centre. Do you remember how JP boasted at PSTGU about the Guatemala situation? I have the sneaking suspicion that there are “eyes” watching this develop (and they’ve drawn the proper conclusions from JP’s failure in Central America). After all, the MP doesn’t fool around where sodomy and paedophilia are concerned. Archbishop Nikon of Yekaterinburg was sent off to work his repentance at the Pskov Pechersky Lavra for sodomy, and the bishop in Vladimir cleaned house after the recent child abuse scandal there. They also don’t care for clerical thieves either… two of Dmitri Banditsky’s associates got defrocked for sticky fingers and they’re now guests of the Russian government at a correctional colony in Siberia… hey, they got three hots and a cot, don’t they? Look at the good side. Quem deus vult perdere, dementat prius… they’re quite mad, so, is their time short? I can’t say… but I certainly do hope so.

Mr Jensen… DO be Frank… Are You Attacking Seraphim Storheim’s Victims? If so… Come Out with it or Shut the $#%& Up!

“We must consider the possibility that at least some individuals are making false allegations against priests”. What about priests who attack laypeople, Mr Jensen? Answer me that, if you will! Hmm… do you notice the silence? I advise all comers not to hold your breath waiting for his response… it’s not only unhealthy, it’s undignified as all living hell… Oh… “Satan at the computer” isn’t the “accusers”… it’s what I think of gutless goodthinkers like Jensen… I’m entitled to my opinion of him and I can express it, too.

Did you catch this (I retained the bad grammar, syntax, and vocabulary… it bespeaks a barely-literate writer, doesn’t it?)?

We must consider the possibility that at least some individuals are making false allegations against priests. Yes, they may do so unintentional. Unintentional or not, such allegations, even if they are dismissed, can destroy a priest’s professionally and personally. How do we respond to the actual victims of clergy sexual misconduct while at the same time not creating a new class of victims… falsely accused clergy?

In short, we have to shut up! The main victims are poor clergy hounded by nasty accusers. Excuse me, whilst I hurl in disgust! This is preposterous, ridiculous, and reprehensible. I have seen countless cases of nasty and mean-spirited clergy who get away with everything but murder (and there are cases that make one wonder about that). As a Renovationist clergyman said to a parishioner in the 80s, (I heard it) “If I could call the cops on you to forbid you being here, I would”. These are the people that Mr Jensen claims are “victims”. Are you claiming that Cappy and Mel are liars, Mr Jensen? Are you claiming that Kristi Koumentakos is a liar, sir? Are you claiming that Eric Iliff was a liar, Mr Jensen? If so, I think that John Iliff would welcome the opportunity to invite you to the woodshed so that you could gain a closer acquaintance with the “board of education”… to get “three of the best”, as Lee Kuan Yew put it. Lastly… are you claiming that Seraphim Storheim’s accusers are false accusers? If so… say so, and stop your smarmy posturing.

This is absolute rubbish from stem to stern and Mr Jensen should be ashamed for having written it. It’s California New Age Positivism with no trace whatsoever of Christianity in it. However, this is typical konvertsy twaddle, with no redeeming content in it at all. This is what we’re facing… Paffhausen and his apologists not only believe themselves innocent of any wrongdoing, THEY’RE the victims, falsely and contumaciously accused.

I have only one reply to such self-serving drivel…

REMEMBER ERIC ILIFF.

If you buy any of Jensen’s trashy rationale, you throw a stone directly at the Iliff family. I, for one, will stand in your way. You know, I think that I’m not alone in thinking that way…
