Tomorrow Is Defenders of the Motherland Day… Let’s Cheer All Those Who Served… Let’s Razz Those Who Punked Out

A big thank you to the guys from every land who stood tall and did their duty! Tomorrow, 23 February is Defenders of the Motherland Day. We should thank all those who served in the regular forces… they put their lives on the line. All honour to them! As for the Chumps of the Motherland… those who REFUSED to do their duty… NUTS TO YOU. In case you forgot… some of the most notable Chumps of the Motherland are Rush Limbaugh, George W Bush, Richard Cheney, Dan Quayle, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and Newt Gingrich. However, the Coward of the Year Award goes to Scott Walker, the punk governor of Wisconsin. Dropout Scott refused to serve, but he’s quick to pull out the cudgel. Interesting ain’t it? Those who served are the LAST to pull out the club, but the pinheads who refused to serve are the first to do so!

In any case, honour the vets, honour the present soldiers… and remember who refused to do their duty and shirked it… keep it sweet.

Meeting of the Inter-Orthodox Preparatory Commission in Chambésy

Be forewarned… this isn’t from the official MP press service… it’s BS from the Blunder’s Dezinformatsiya Factory. Chambésy is moribund… the Greek government has cut off all funding… it’s merely a convenient venue for the MP and EP to meet to discuss the terms of granting autocephaly. There’s no work being done on any notional “Pan-Orthodox Council”… they’ve been gassing about it since the 60s, and they’re still going to be doing so long after all of us alive now (including babies) are planted and pushing up daisies.

From 22 to 26 February 2011, the Inter-Orthodox Preparatory Commission preparing for the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church will meet at the Ecumenical Patriarchate Orthodox Centre in Chambésy (Switzerland). Delegations from 14 autocephalous Local Churches will attend the session. In accordance with a decision of the MP Holy Synod, Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of Volokolamsk, the chairman of the MP DECR, will head the MP delegation. It shall also include Archbishop Mark Arndt of Berlin and all Germany (ROCOR/MP), and Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, the deputy chairman of the MP DECR (as a consultant). The agenda shall focus on the definition of the procedure for granting autocephaly, as well as discussing the diptychs.

This is ho-hum, but the SVS/OCA/konvertsy riff-raff are going to make much of it… and it’s much ado about nothing. Firstly, there’s no date for any “Great Council”… not even a vague date within the next ten years. In short, it’s the sort of airy-fairy jibber-jabber nonsense that only a professor, pseudo-intellectual, or konvert could take seriously. Just bear in mind that since the Greek government cut off all funding, Chambésy has been, in effect, dead (dear God, the staff’s redundant). There’s NO planning going on, not even of the most notional and speculative sort. It’s just a convenient “neutral forum” for EP/MP chess matches. Oh… one last thing… Balashov isn’t a consultant… he’s a zampolit… he’s there to ensure that the Blunder behaves…

There’s only one place that’s pushing the Corporatist line… the USA. Even the rest of the Anglosphere (Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand) is taking the workers’ side in this. In short, most of the coverage here is naked and unashamed cheerleading for the most rightwing and extreme faction of the GOP. As a Russian friend of mine wrote, “Right to work… no, it’s not! It’s the right to oppress!” That’s what it’s all about, kids… the oligarchs want the right to smash their boot into your face any time that they please. I beg to differ…
