Is This FOR REAL? It Sounds “Too Good to be True”

A correspondent sent me this. It sounds “too good to be true”… so, I’ll mark it “provisional”… good, if true… no skin off me, if not. Read this:

Metropolitan Jonah, First Hierarch of the OCA has been given the “Bishop Nikolai’ treatment… mandatory leave of absence. Archbishop Nathaniel Popp has been named to temporarily fill the spot of First Hierarch. Bishop Melchizadek (sic) has been named as Chancellor, replacing Archpriest Alexander Garklavs.

This is attested to by a friend who checked it with a very senior priest… so, here it is. I can’t celebrate… not after Paffhausen. Take it for what you will.

MP Delegation Led by Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev Attended a Meeting of the Inter-Orthodox Preparatory Commission

On 22 February 2011, a meeting of the Inter-Orthodox Preparatory Commission convened at the Orthodox Centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Chambésy, near Geneva, to continue to discuss problems around the agenda of a future all-Orthodox Council. The last meeting of the Commission was in December 2009. It’ll submit the results of its discussions to the Fifth Inter-Orthodox Pre-Council Meeting, the date of which is to be determined upon completion of the preparatory work. Earlier Pre-Conciliar Inter-Orthodox Meetings occurred in 1976, 1982, 1986, and 2009. Metropolitan Ionnanis Zizioulas of Pergamos and Adramyttion (EP) chaired the session. An MP delegation headed by Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of Volokolamsk, the chairman of the MP DECR, included Archbishop Mark Arndt of Berlin and all Germany (ROCOR), Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, deputy chairman of the MP DECR, and translator A G Churyakov. Delegations from 14 autocephalous Local Churches attended the meeting. A prayer opened the session and Metropolitan Ionnanis presented an introductory report. The First Hierarchs of the Local Churches involved sent a telegram asking for blessings and prayers, followed by a formal welcoming of the heads of the delegations. Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev delivered to the participants of the meeting the good wishes of Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of Moscow and all the Russias, hoping for a successful undertaking, in a spirit of love and understanding. Metropolitan Ieremias Kalligiorgis of Lausanne and all Switzerland (EP), the Secretary of the Preparatory Commission, made a report on the agenda for the session. The next meeting of Inter-Orthodox Preparatory Commission would continue a review of the questions raised at this sitting. Proceedings of the Commission, which shall examine the contents of a Tomos of Autocephaly and the mechanics of its conferral, and a discussion of the diptychs, will continue until 26 February.

Editor’s Note:

The Blunder is only the head of the MP delegation in name only. Why? The next day, 23 February, he was in Geneva schmoozing with the head of the WCC. It’s clear that Balashov is doing all the heavy lifting in the talks, exactly as it happened the last time that the EP and MP discussed autocephaly under the pretext of Pre-Conciliar talks. Is there going to be a statement issued on autocephaly, as occurred the last time? I’ve no idea… we’ll have to see. Nevertheless, all comers know that the EP doesn’t recognise the so-called OCA… and His Nibs may very well toss the lifting of the autocephaly of the OCA to Bart as a face-saving bone. After all, Chambésy is now all but shut down due to Greek government funding cuts and it’s clear that this meeting only took place because KMG subsidised it. Bart has no money… and the other First Hierarchs have even less. Howdya like that image? You couldn’t get more low-res if you tried. In short, this is airy-fairy jibber-jabber, only fit for SVS phonies like Oliver Herbel and John Behr, konvertsy poseurs like Matthew Tate, and soulless apparatchiki like Kishkovsky, Lebedeff, Burdikoff, and Larin. No real people should waste their time on this. I had to attend to it so that the real news was out there… to counter SVS lies. As for you… you can see it’s utter GIGO… act accordingly.

24 February 2011. A Whole Lotta Construction Goin’ On…

I’m doing a bit of internal maintenance on the sites. That is, the art sites are getting a new format for titles, Art & Faith, Too is complete, and Art & Faith is complete down to June 2010, and I’m working on May 2010 at present. At Voices, I’m making sure that all posts are to the same graphic standards as my latest posts, there, I’ve completed November 2007-January 2008. When complete, all the sites will have uniform graphic standards throughout… which’ll really spiff up the old image. Parenthetically, my new standard for “portrait” images (higher vertical than horizontal) will be 1,000 pixels in width, and “landscape” images (longer on the horizntal axis) will be 1,200 pixels in width. Of course, many will be smaller, and some will be larger, depending on the image’s resolution.

So… I’ve been busy with “stealth work”… that cuts down on new posts for a bit. Nevertheless, I do my utmost to present to you the best possible product that I can produce… and that’s that. We’ll break out the bubbly when it’s all done…
