“The Infant Hercules and the Standard Oil Serpents”… the Republican Party once stood AGAINST Corporate Greed… Today, the present GOP pisses on and repudiates the legacy of TR, Ike, Tom Dewey, Bill Buckley, Richard Nixon, Rocky, Barry Goldwater, and Gerald Ford. It praises Dotty Ronnie and Bush the Cowboy and their giveaways to the rich… the affluent are the only “productive people”, dontcha know! If TR were alive today, he’d be roasting BP’s guts for dinner… and hanging the Wall Street speculators from the Washington cherry trees… “to encourage the others”.

Consider: in 1928, the richest 1 percent of Americans received 23.9 percent of the nation’s total income. After that, the share going to the richest 1 percent steadily declined. New Deal reforms, followed by World War II, the GI Bill, and the Great Society expanded the circle of prosperity. By the late 1970s, the top 1 percent raked in only 8 to 9 percent of America’s total annual income. But after that, inequality began to widen again, and income reconcentrated at the top. By 2007, the richest 1 percent were back to where they were in 1928… with 23.5 percent of the total.

‘Nuff said… income redistribution lives… and it’s eating at your vitals. Dotty Old Ronnie Reagan started it in the ’80s and the Bush/Cheney kleptocracy accelerated it (leading to the current Great Recession). It’s time to return to the pre-Reagan tax structure, to ensure that the rich pay their fair share. Oh, one last thing… Rush Limbaugh receives (he certainly doesn’t “earn”) over 50 million cool ones a year for spreading the lies of the oligarch overclass… that’s 150 Gs A DAY. How many of you make that in a YEAR? Great “man of the people”, eh? Excuse me whilst I hurl…
