If you’re uninsured and on the brink of death, that’s apparently a laughing matter to some audience members at last night’s tea party Republican presidential debate. US Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), a doctor, was asked a hypothetical question by CNN host Wolf Blitzer about how society should respond if a healthy 30-year-old man who decided against buying health insurance suddenly goes into a coma and requires intensive care for six months. Paul… a fierce limited-government advocate… said it shouldn’t be the government’s responsibility. âThat’s what freedom is all about, taking your own risksâ, Paul said and was drowned out by audience applause as he added, âthis whole idea that you have to prepare to take care of everybody âŚâ âAre you saying that society should just let him die?â Blitzer pressed Paul. Thatâs when the audience got involved. Several loud cheers of âYeah!â followed by laughter could be heard in the Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds in response to Blitzer’s question. Paul disagreed with the audience on that front. âNoâ, he responded, noting he practiced medicine before Medicaid when churches took care of medical costs… a comment that drew wide audience applause. âWe never turned anybody away from the hospitalâ. Paul voiced support for legalising alternative health care and argued that the reason medical costs have skyrocketed is that individuals have stopped taking personal responsibility for their health care. Although Paul spoke to the larger issues of health care and government-backed health insurance… both pivotal in the 2012 election… the audience’s reaction has overshadowed the substance of the exchange between the candidates.
The day after the event, Texas Governor Rick Perry offered his own criticism of the audience response. âI was a bit taken aback by that myselfâ, Perry told NBC News and the Miami Herald of the audience reaction after appearing at a breakfast fundraiser in Tampa Tuesday morning. âWe’re the party of life. We ought to be coming up with ways to save livesâ. The campaigns for Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann did not immediately respond to The Ticket’s request for comment. Conservative Andrew Sullivan writing for The Daily Beast’s The Dish Tuesday noted that the United States obligates society to save someone in an emergency room. âAmerica, moreover, has a law on the books that makes it a crime not to treat and try to save a human being who walks into an emergency room. So, we have already made that collective decision and if the GOP wants to revisit it, they canâ, Sullivan wrote. Sullivan also decried the audience reaction, writing, âMaybe a tragedy like the death of a feckless twenty-something is inevitable if we are to restrain healthcare costs, but itâs still a tragedy. It isnât something a decent person cheersâ.

On 12 September, in adherence with instructions issued by local authorities, St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Nice is no longer open for paid tours. A parish spokesman told Interfax-Religion, âHowever, as always, church services will take place as scheduledâ. Recently, bailiffs came to the cathedral and presented the previous owners of the building, the Orthodox Cult Association of Nice (ACOR), which is under the EP, with a notice of immediate execution of a court decision of 19 May 2011. As we reported earlier, a French court confirmed the right of the Russian state to the ownership of St Nicholas Cathedral in Nice. The Russian state, in turn, decided to transfer the church property in perpetuity to the MP, for use as a parish church. However, the EP authorities have been laggardly in actually transferring the property to the MP.
At a recent meeting with Bishop Nestor Sirotenko of Korsun, Archbishop Gabriel de Vylder, the head of the EP Exarchate of Russian Parishes in Western Europe, made it clear that the MP had to deal directly with the ACOR in regards to the transfer of the keys and ending entrance fees. The meeting adjourned without result, so, preparations for a meeting with an expanded number of participants between the Exarchate and the Diocese of Korsun is underway.
Earlier, Viktor Khrekov, Press Secretary of the RF Presidential Administration, commented on the reluctance of the ACOR to hand over the property to Russia, telling Interfax-Religion, âFor them, the cathedral is a âcash cowâ. They sell tickets for admission, according to various estimates, they earn up to one million Euros (41.37 million Roubles 1.37 million USD 867,000 UK Pounds) a yearâ, explaining that the church did hold services, but they use it primarily as âa moneymaking tourist attractionâ.

Heâs going to hand over the keys and deed tout suite, and thatâs that. I see where KMG has the Blunder giving some obscurantist paper at a cockamamie conference of âscholarsâ at the so-called âEcumenical Monastic Community of Boseâ (Monastero di Bose) in Bose (Province of Biella. Piemonte Region) Italy. Doesnât that title make you want to hurl? âEcumenical Monastic Communityâ… Bozhe! However, it keeps him out of trouble as Mark Golovkov does the heavy lifting in pinning Gabriel to the wall.
Itâs wise to point up that the Blunder serves two actual purposes, for the time being. Firstly, heâs a link to the pro-Western oligarch element… yes, theyâre pro-American Neo-Liberal lickspittles, but, for now, the Church is keeping an eye on them; its keeping this line of communication open to them. Secondly, he looks and sounds nice on TV, so, heâs the perfect actor in the ecumenical shadow games that KMG plays in Western Europe and the USA. I think that Benedict Ratzinger is on to the gag, but heâs an old hand (he survived the shark tank of the Roman Curia, after all), so, he knows how to properly value such things (that is, not too highly). Alfeyev has no real power at the Centre (heâs the first head of the DECR not to be a ruling bishop), and his position is more apparent than real, but the konvertsy are taken in by his superficial glibness and oh-so-smooth mannerisms (do ask the real people in England about him… “He’s a wee rum ‘un”). Heâs nothing but a trained Western-style media shill (which is why they âswallowâ him so uncritically).
Well… the Paris Gang is being told… âWe want the keys and the deeds, messieurs… and we want them NOWâ. The gendarmes arenât going to muck about… The Paris gang is losing its cash cow right in the midst of a raging world depression. What are they going to do now? Ask SVS for money? Good luck! This isnât a big deal. Firstly, El Gordo had NOTHING to do with this. He got in due to blat from Potapov (a BBG/VOA bigwig with Langley ties) and Lyonyo (whoâs got ties to the CFR and Langley). In addition, it wasnât an official UN affair… it was something ginned up by the RC Archdiocese of New York. Donât forget, the RCs tried to hide their pervert priests and hierarchs, too… finally, they paid up big time for that error. Iâm pointing no fingers… our guys are WORSE. Iâm just saying that the RC Archdiocese apparatchiki and the Orthodox apparatchiki are peas shelled from the same diseased pod, and theyâre looking out for one another (itâs âYou scratch my arse, Iâll scratch yoursâ). Theyâre both a bunch of crook bureaucrats with a crank institutional culture, âthe interests of the Establishment first, last, and always; the rank nâ file priests and people be damnedâ. Thatâs BOTH sides; not just us, not just them. There was NO mention of this ecumaniacal Dixie Fry on patriarchia.ru… apparently, no MP people were there… proof positive that this was nothing but a minor and toothless Archdiocese of NY tea party (the literal sort, with cups of tea, watercress sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and Battenberg slices)… HO HUM!!
The word out there is that Calinâs a known homosexual. In fact, he and Deacon Michael Suvak (grew up in the ACROD parish in Endicott NY, I think) were THROWN OUT of SVS sometime in the 80s in re a homosexual incident. Then, the two lived together in Brooklyn and started attended Pokrov in the City, as laymen… Archimandrite Makary (long-time partner in crime of lâHuillier) was rector then. Eventually, Calin was ordained deacon and priest by l’Huillier and Suvak was ordained Deacon… once clergy, they moved to 2nd St together. Bobby hung around there a lot…at one point, there was a big falling out between RSK and Makary… also, they talked about consecrating Makary to the episcopate, but as he lacked any theological formation, they were going to sent him to STS for a while… give him some type of diploma, but that never materialised. Following Feodosy Lazorâs orders, Makary wrecked the iconostas at St Sergius Chapel by dyeing it a hideous dark colour and applying tasteless gold leaf on the carved woodwork. They should have left the way it was before, the same as it was in Metropolitan Leonty‘s time. The fagorama never ends… donât forget El Gordoâs AGAINST homosexuality… he said so! Hmm… then, why does he hang around Peterson, Brittain, Soraich, Eliel, and Calin… his list of supporters reads like a litany of Gay Blade Pretenders. Remember… itâs better to have an openly gay hierarch as V Gene Robinson is, than it is to have closeted gay clergy. The first are harmless… the latter… look at the OCA and weep. I need say no more…
One last thing before I go… it’s been nearly TWO WEEKS since Royster’s funeral on 1 September, and oca.org still hasn’t posted a single high-res image of the affair… it’s like they’re ashamed of it all. If the stories about Dmitri have even the slightest scintilla of truth to them, they very well should be…
