Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić to UNESCO: Don’t Allow the Theft of Our Heritage

THIS is how the Kosovar Albanians (and their godless American backers in Foggy Bottom) treat the Serbian patrimony in Kosovo… any questions?

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said that monasteries and churches of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) couldn’t belong to the so-called “Republic of Kosovo”.

Addressing the UNESCO General Conference in Paris on Monday, Jeremić stated, “In this organisation, we’re supposed to protect and nurture cultural identities, not be complicit in politicised attempts to carve up new ones”. He said that since Serbia’s a member of UNESCO, it‘d increase its efforts to safeguard at-risk cultural patrimony across the planet. This point affects Serbia most directly in its southern province of Kosovo and Metohija, which is home to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Danger, and Serbia’s responsible for their protection, Jeremić emphasised, saying, “I’d like to salute UNESCO’s strictly status-neutral work in Kosovo. We‘d also like to thank the various donor countries for their help in conserving and rebuilding Serbian heritage under very complicated circumstances. In post-conflict environments, honouring everyone’s identity is a pre-requisite for reconciliation, and excluding or negating a particular identity makes it impossible”.

Unfortunately, he noted, some mistakenly believe such an approach will help confirm their political choices, but the only result has been to make Serbia the target of a systemic campaign of identity theft. Jeremić warned that this travesty must not be allowed to stand. “Everyone knows that Serbs and (ethnic) Albanians disagree about Kosovo’s final status. But I want to be very clear… UNESCO isn’t the forum for airing political disagreements, directly or through proxies”. At the same time, he called on UNESCO member states to support Serbia’s candidacy for a seat on the World Heritage Committee. Serbia’s longstanding tradition of safeguarding patrimony goes back more than 165 years, Jeremić noted. He pointed up that, in 1844, Serbia adopted a law entitled “Prohibition of the Destruction of Old Towns and Castles”, and that, over time, Serbia’s local, provincial, and national cultural heritage institutes have grown into a well-developed and widely respected network, second-to-none in Southeast Europe, which has been recognised on numerous occasions by various UNESCO bodies, including the World Heritage Committee itself.

If granted membership, Serbia would forcefully advocate for a credible, representative, and balanced World Heritage List, thus further strengthening the integrity of the organisation, Jeremić stated. He reminded his listeners that Serbian President Boris Tadić recently hosted the Ninth UNESCO Summit of Southeast European Heads of State at the Roman archaeological site of Viminacium, one of the most culturally rich urban centres of the late Roman empire, a great crossroads that connected east with west, north with south. Jeremić stated , “The large-scale rediscovery of Viminacium at the dawn of the 21st century stands as a powerful symbol of what the Balkans represent… a place where bridges across cultures are built and cherished. It’s with this in mind that the Republic of Serbia, a multi-cultural and multi-confessional democracy, has presented its candidacy for a seat on the UNESCO World Heritage Committee”.

31 October 2011. A Point to Ponder…

Russian priests and imams who minister to the forces… they’re brothers standing together as one. “You attack ONE of us… you attack ALL of us”.

Here’s one of my fave images. It’s a meditation for the OCA Sobor delegates… His Holiness stands for fraternal relations with Muslims… Paffhausen (and all of his konvertsy pals) stands for allying the Church with the most troglodyte haters in the American rightwing. Somehow, one of these things is NOT like the other.

I stand with His Holiness and the Russian Army chaplains (both Orthodox and Muslim)… not with Paffhausen and the rightwing haters. What about you?

31 October 2011. On This and On That… an Update on Howard Needle

I found out some interesting information on Howard Needle, Ray Velencia’s mouthpiece. Note this:

Howard J Needle Attorney in Baltimore MD is a private company categorised under Lawyers and Attorneys. Our records show it was established in 1996 and incorporated in Maryland. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of less than $500,000 and employs a staff of approximately 1 to 4. Companies like Howard J Needle Attorney usually offer: Ip Attorneys, Attorneys At Law, Intellectual Property Solicitors, Marital Law, and General Practise Lawyers.

In short, this guy’s no big deal. He’s a former political hack in Maryland, he served in the House of Delegates 1971-78 (apparently, a Democrat) and at a Maryland Constitutional Convention. Couple this with the fact that he’s got no website and is apparently running his business out of his home (he’s 75… that means that he’s actually a retired attorney practising on the side). After due thought, I don’t think that this guy is tied up with Fathausen and Potapov; he’s the wrong political orientation for them. However, Columbia IS in the Balto-District burbs… and so’s Pikesville (although, what doesn’t add up is that Pikesville’s north of Balto and Columbia’s south of it). Most probably, he’s a business acquaintance of one of Ray’s diehard supporters… that’s the only explanation that holds water for a reasonable person. Victor Potapov has his fingers in many pies… but not all of them… he’s just a megalomaniacal posturing fool and rightwing fanatic (thank you, Fr X, for that characterisation)… he’s not an omnipresent ogre.

The Sobor could help matters by demanding that the Synod retire Velencia… that would solve the problem. It’d help if the Holy Synod were to send a letter to all other Orthodox archdioceses warning them of this guy. Sources tell me that the GOAA really doesn’t want to touch Ray… and I don’t blame them one bit. They conclude, quite pragmatically, that someone who got into hot water once can do it again. If Ray was playing footsie with his Greek pals (don’t forget, Ray went to Holy Cross, not SVS) in Balto, I’ve no doubt that it’s stopped… trust me, Big Daddy Demetrios put out the word, and that’s that.

My sources tell me that Needle sent out three to six “intents to sue”. I’ll testify to this in any court. Still… where’s Ray getting the money to do this, seeing as he’s been canned as Rector of St Matthew in Columbia? My educated conjecture is that it’s a combination of JP and Ray’s Stepford Wives claque. What does Ray know about JP that makes JP defend him so vehemently? It wouldn’t surprise me (or anyone else, for that matter) that it’s something concerning JP and his guru Podmoshensky. However, whatever it is, it’s unknown, but one CAN see that JP defends Ray with obstinate intensity.

It’s time to lance the boil… retire JP… defrock Velencia… fire Jillions and Lyonyo (and all of JP’s appointments, generally). If we don’t, all that we’ll do is postpone the day of reckoning… and it’ll be all the worst for that delay.

Quo vadis, Sobor delegates?

Doesn’t this take a lotta damned gall? Here’s the sad part… there are people boobish enough to fall for this. That’s why government’s necessary; that’s why we need gaols and prisons. It’s damnably difficult to track such grifters down, but when they’re caught, they deserve a nice long rest at the hands of the state… the Supermax is too good for such sorts. Could we “outsource” their imprisonment to Russia? Then, we could send such sorts to Correctional Colony 1313 in the Sakha Republic, where they’d break rocks under the pale Arctic sun (even a unreformed Texas hoosegow in July is too comfortable for these guys, I think).

If you needed proof that the world’s fallen… this is that. It DOES take all kinds… but this low, Lord? Pass me the jug… I need a double hit after this one, and so do you…
