In case you wuz wonderin’… the property for the church was a gift from President Fidel Castro Ruz to the Greek Orthodox community (the Cuban government helped with financing the church). He was also just as generous to the Russian Orthodox parish in Havana.

14 December 2011. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words… Christ… Red… White… United!

This image is from late Soviet times. Many Americans are unaware of the fact that the religious revival in Russia began under the Soviet power. President Gorbachyov released the restrictions on the Church, and in 6 short years, there was explosive growth. The government aided the REAL Church… no schismatics were allowed to exist, and the Uniates were restricted. The impetus of the revival was SLOWED by the consequences of the August events (and it never picked up quite the same speed again). Sad to say, both the OCA and the ROCOR treacherously thrust knives deeply into the back of the Mother Church. Was it at the behest of the Western special services? Nothing’s leaked out yet… but it certainly makes sense. The ROCOR founded parishes on the territory of the Motherland, which was against its charter… God had the last laugh, though. This foolish and impious action led directly to the schismatic groups of Valentin Rusantsov and Agafangel Pashkovsky… both of these oddbods received episcopal ordination from the ROCOR. The OCA had a hand in the foundation of the heretical St Philaret Orthodox Christian Institute (Seraphim Sigrist, Nikita Struve, and Dmitri Pospielovsky were leading lights in this… it’s NOT an official or semi-official Church institution)… that gave a boost to heretics such as Zinon Teodor (remember how SVS was ga-ga over his icons in the ’90s?) and Georgi Kochetkov.

Both the OCA and the ROCOR proved their Russophobia for the the whole world to see. Some of them haven’t changed their spots have they? Yes… the ROCOR’s formally under the Centre… the OCA’s formally in communion with the Centre. I’d say that there are those who only give formal assent to both… I think that all of you are aware who are the “usual cast of suspects”. No one affiliated with the CFR or who works for RFE/RL is a friend of the Motherland or the Mother Church.

I believe that a “parting of the ways” is coming. There are OCA and ROCOR people who don’t want to be part of the Mother Church. Well… let them go! Don’t argue with them. These people never were of us in the first place… even if they were Russian and never served liturgy in English! I read today where a Church Commission is translating materials into Buryat. Good on them! “Russian Orthodox” doesn’t mean Great Russian ethnicity, it means those of us in communion with the Centre, that’s all. Most of us want to go home… if Lyonyo, Behr, Paffhausen, and other soreheads don’t want to come… let them go off to the Parisian gang or off to Pashkovsky’s lot.

Look at the image… Christ is Red… Christ is White… Christ is BOTH! If you can’t accept that, you’re not a Russian Orthodox Christian, and that’s that.

Where’s Ruprecht? Anyone who knows anything about German St Nicholas Day customs know about Knecht Ruprecht… you’d best know your prayers. If you don’t, Ruprecht will whack you with his bag of ashes and leave you a lump of coal in your shoe. Let’s see… St Nick came for Catholic and Protestant kids last Tuesday (6 December)… he can’t rest, he’s got to leave goodies for Orthodox kids on 19 December (this coming Monday).

All REAL Christians keep St Nick’s Day and honour St Nicholas… that’s how you can tell the Christians from the Sectarians without a scorecard.
