At present, the church that grandiloquently calls itself THE “Orthodox Church in America“, and boastfully calls its leader the “Metropolitan of all America and Canada” lies in shambles. Today, there was supposedly a Spiritual Court convened to try the case of Dickie Wood. We don’t know whether Mr Wood was present or not (the last info I had was that Dickie was holed up in  a Moscow apartment and he was avoiding all Church situations). There’s no word from the Lesser Synod on their decision. Compare this to the latest meeting of the UOC/MP Synod. They disciplined a cleric, and they publicised the news THE VERY SAME DAY, even though it was released at 23.14 MSK… that’s nearly midnight in the Centre, 21.14 in Kiev (that’s still late).

Were things always like this? NO! The Metropolia was a much more modest, unassuming, and pragmatic bunch, as befitted the fact that most of its members were po-nashemu Carpatho-Russians. These people knew the value of a dollar and worked hard for everything that they had. I recently wrote a friend:

Remember how people bitched and moaned about Fr Joe Pishtey? Betcha they want those days back, now, don’t they? People not only need to hear the “straight shit”, they also need to know that we once knew how to “walk the walk”. Here’s to the modest and grounded Metroprolia… we NEED to see that we “walked the walk”. People need to see that we knew what was what and who was who. I weep for those who want the old Metropolia back as it was… “you can’t go home again”. However, we can return to the sane, modest, and pragmatic ways of the Metropolia. You can’t “unlive” the past… and you shouldn’t want to. The last forty years taught us a bitter lesson… “There’s no place like home”.

My correspondent wrote back:

My baba asked, “Since when did we become this way?”

I wrote another friend:

You can say what you will, but the Metropolia knew how to “walk the walk”. All the OCA can do is “talk the talk”. Which do you prefer?

On the one hand, you have poseurs like Paffhausen, Oliver Herbel, the SVS crowd, the jabronies at “OCA Truth” and “Monomakhos”, and the HOOMies; on the other, you have people who want to emulate their fathers and mothers and have a REAL Orthodox Church. I’m for the latter group… “Honour your father and your mother so that your days will be long on the earth”. Whom do YOU want to follow? A bunch of nappy-wearing smarkachy (drippy-nosed kids), or do you want to hang out with REAL Orthodox Christians? It’s your choice…

22 February 2012. “If This is Tuesday… It Must be the Interfax Press Conference”… Another Day on the Campaign Trail

******

______________________________

In this image, we see the KPRF candidate for President, Gennady Zyuganov, with his aides before a press conference at Interfax in Moscow. Heavens sakes alive! The commies look HUMAN! Of course, they do, dude… what did you think they looked like? All too many Americans have a skewed image of leftists propagated by those penny-dreadful Chick tracts and those goofy propaganda comic books put out by the RCs in the 50s and the early 60s. Trust me, commies don’t have horns and hooves, they don’t wear red tights and wave pitchforks, and they don’t shoot priests and social parasites before they eat breakfast. Here in the USA, we don’t have a real leftist party like the KPRF in Russia, Die Linke in Germany, the Labour Party in Norway, or the Socialists in France. The Democrats are right-of-centre in European terms (the Republicans are Far Right like le Pen in France and the Freedom Party of Austria). The closest that the USA got to socialism was the New Deal, and that was merely left-of-centre, not a fully-fledged Leftist programme. Anyone who claims that Barack Obama’s a socialist is in dire and immediate need of a total brain transplant. That does tell one volumes about the character of Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Anne Coulter, Sean Hannity, and all the other pundits on the right… they know that what they’re spouting is utter bullshit, but they like the money that they get for lying. That’s something to ponder (people like Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin are too dense to realise that they’re spouting BS… you have to cut the simple-minded a break or two)…

By the way most of the voters in Russia are voting “Left”… the pro-American Neoliberals are sucking wind… the three Left-of-Centre candidates (Putin, Zyuganov, and Mironov) are projected to win 82 percent of the vote. The pro-American lapdog Prokhorov is only going to get about 9 percent per pollsters. There are no GULags in Russia (and the KPRF wouldn’t bring them back… Gorby abolished them, remember?)… if you want to see political prisoners in the modern world, you’ll have to go to Guantánamo

Putin: Foreign Meddling Won’t Bring Democracy

______________________________

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that the development of democracy in Russia must proceed along its own sovereign course, without any outside interference, if it’s to avoid popular uprisings. Putin, who is running in the 4 March presidential election, said Russia must not become an importer of popular uprisings, “colour revolutions”, and cited Libya as an example, where tribal factions began warring with each other soon after the ouster of former leader Muammar Gaddafi. He said, “In order to prevent such things in our country, we need to develop our own democratic institutions so that people feel like participants in political processes and understand that the formation of power and the main directions in economic and social policies depend on them. This is the key point”. Then, he pointed up that the second most important thing was to prevent any foreign involvement in the country’s domestic affairs, just as Russia has no interest in meddling in the affairs of other countries, including its neighbours, saying, “We aren’t interested in, nor planning to, and don’t want to interfere in anyone else’s affairs. However, we’re interested in a stable situation around Russia”.

In the wake of numerous anti-government protests across Russia demanding fair elections, Putin said the country needs a legal opposition that isn’t “nourished from abroad. It’s necessary to have a legal opposition… unfortunately, we have people who’re ready to do everything for the sake of fulfilling their own political ambitions, which, unfortunately, are often fed from abroad”. Allegations of widespread vote rigging marked the Russian parliamentary elections in December, which triggered anti-government protests, with protesters demanding a repeat election. The government ignored that demand, but it did launch sweeping reforms aimed at opening up the political system.

Editor’s Note:

Let’s keep this short. US Ambassador McFaul’s interfering in Russian internal affairs. “Opposition leaders” are seen going in and out of the US Embassy. Let me make a prediction. The Left’s going to win the upcoming election… VVP will tack “left” to win. The US will be pissed, and put its paid lickspittles out on the streets. Trust me, VVP will call out the OMON and crush the American-sponsored running-dogs. Let’s be blunt… the “opposition” is concentrated in Moscow and Piter… and VVP knows it. The Western media know-nothings like Sophia Kishkovksy and Katrina vanden Heuvel only report on the pro-American Neoliberal segment of Russian society… and that’s only about 15 percent in the capitals and less than 5 percent in the country at large.

The Americans will play right into VVP’s hands… they’re that arrogant, hubristical, and juvenile (look at a typical Darrell Issa “congressional investigation” and you’ll know what I’m talking about). VVP will be able to identify all the pro-American anti-patriotic cruds and neutralise them. The Neocons and Interventionists ARE that stupid and careless. This time, they’ll run into real opposition… watch them all squeal after it’s over. I, for one, will crack open the jug and cheer…
