27 February 2012. Rick Santorum Doesn’t Believe in the Separation of Church and State… He Said So Explicitly…

______________________________

The brazenness of it all does shock one, but Rick Santorum’s honest, at least. Read this. Note these quotes:

I don’t believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute. The First Amendment means the free exercise of religion and that means bringing people and their faith into the public square. …

To say that people of faith have no role in the public square? What makes me throw up is someone who is now trying to tell people that you will do what the government says. That now we’re going to turn around and impose our values from the government on people of faith.

Can you believe that he went on to say that he thought that America was all about embracing diversity, adding, “What we saw in Kennedy’s speech was just the opposite, and that’s what’s so upsetting about it”.

What more do you need? This wingnut makes it clear that he has nothing but contempt for the civil law of the USA, which DOES mandate a separation of Church and State. In fact, the MP is for such a separation, as it doesn’t want the government to interfere in its internal life and policies. That is, the Mother Church is FOR the separation of Church and State, and it’s said so many times. This smells like “Dominion Theology” unalloyed and 100 percent pure. Let’s boil it down to its essence… it states that the law of God, as codified in the Bible, should be the exclusive basis of society’s governance, to the exclusion of secular propositions.

Let’s get this straight… Rick Santorum and all of his Religious Right pals are the exact and precise analogues of the Islamists. Yes… you heard me correctly. There’s no difference between them at all. Islamists who believe in Sharia and Dominionists who believe in the truncated Proddie canon of the Bible are essentially the same in ALL particulars. ALL. Both are willing to use violence and force against those they deem “immoral”… both are willing to use the power of the state to harass anyone who doesn’t accept their weltanschauung and ideology. Furthermore, both are ready to hate… with a narrowness and bitterness seldom seen elsewhere. Yet, the Religious Right in the USA HATES Islamists… yet, they mimic them in every important ontological and existential aspect. There’s NO difference under the skin. There’s no diff between the Wahabbis and the Assemblies of God.

We should thank Mr Santorum for his honesty. All decent and honourable people have to vote against such a monster, and that’s that.

A Note to Orthodox Readers:

I was talking with a friend lately, and he made a very good point. He said that someone said to him, “I can’t understand why Paffhausen’s taken in by this Libertarian crap”. To which my friend replied, “Don’t you know? He’s always believed in it. He’s never been otherwise”.

We have a serious situation facing us. This deserves a post of its own, but I’d like to put a thought in your head to ponder. Our Church is threatened, not from without, but from within. Rightwing convert elements are trying to turn Christ’s Church into a cult. People with no real background such as Paffhausen, Reardon, Dreher, Mattingly, and Kushiner parade themselves as “experts”… when none of them has a terminal degree from an Orthodox institution under completely Orthodox auspices (unlike, for instance, Fr Vsevolod who has a kandidatura from the MDA).

Christ’s Church is the Big Tent… it’s the Salvation Station for Every Nation… it wants everyone and anyone. It’s not a Little Flock, a self-selected Gideon’s Band, a Mutual-Admiration Society of the Elect. The first is Christ-like and God-pleasing… the latter is a demonic and diabolic imposture. Think on it…
