Russia Submits “Enhanced” Draft Resolution on Syria

______________________________

The UN Security Council is set for a showdown on Wednesday as Russia has submitted its own, “enhanced”, draft resolution on Syria to counter a new draft resolution on sanctions prepared by Western countries. The UK, supported by the USA, France, and Germany, drafted a new resolution on Syria on the basis of Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, which allows sanctions and military operations under certain limited situations. Russia, on the contrary, continues to promote UN Special Envoy Kofi Annan’s six-point peace plan as the only way to end the spiralling violence in Syria, despite the failure of a ceasefire stipulated under the deal.

On Tuesday, Russian Deputy Ambassador to the UN Aleksandr Pankin told reporters after a two-hour Security Council meeting on the Russian draft, “We’ve taken into account [in the enhanced draft] concerns over humanitarian situation, human rights, and a localised ceasefire. Kofi Annan discussed this idea with the Syrian leadership in Damascus. It seems to be rather effective”. The new version of the Russian draft focuses, in particular, on the extension of a UN monitoring mission to Syria, which expires on 20 July, for another three months.

Washington and its allies refused to support the original Russian draft; Western diplomats described it as “toothless” and “inadequate”. In response, Russia threatened to veto the Western draft on Wednesday because, if passed, it’d be “a small step towards foreign intervention in Syria”. Both Russia and China… veto-wielding members of the UN Security Council… previously blocked UN resolutions that would’ve introduced tough sanctions against Syria over what Western powers say is the brutal suppression of a now 17-month revolt against President Bashar al-Assad’s régime.

The Syrian conflict, which has grown increasingly militarised over the past few months, has already left between 13,000 and 17,000 people dead, according to Syrian rights activists quoted by the UN. Most recently, intensive fighting between rebels and government forces flared up in the Syrian capital, Damascus, as the Free Syrian Army, a military wing of the Syrian opposition, announced a full-scale military operation in the capital in response to what the group described as “massacres and barbaric crimes” committed by government troops.

17 July 2012. Love BT Opens His Mouth… Inserts His Foot… Dreher Dumps on JP on Monomakhos

They DID… what do these ramblings tell you about Love BT and Rod Dreher? Nothing good, I’ll warrant…

______________________________

Here’s the complete text of Love BT’s comments on Monomakhos:

What are the alleged entries in Father Symeon Kharon’s “criminal record?” With what has he been charged and convicted? To what extent has one diocesan bishop’s continuing resentment of nuns imported from Greece, who say bad things about his own record there, been seized upon as fuel for the attack on Metropolitan Jonah? If a Holy Synod is now going to busy themselves with a rape investigation, how will their expertise exceed that of men trained in investigations and criminal justice? They expect to succeed after the cops and the DA failed? Does the Holy Synod now operate, especially in the area of sex-related sins, according to the rule, ”Guilty until and UNLESS PROVED INNOCENT BY US?” Will this be the exceptionalist American gift to historical Orthodoxy? It looks almost as if they are dying to prove something, anything against Metropolitan Jonah to justify their reversing their malfeasance in electing Metropolitan Jonah? Why, perhaps those who thought the bishops need more management and leadership training, would place a higher priority on their all being given a course in Criminal Justice 101?

Most of the senior OCA and ROCOR clergy in the Bay Area know Igumen Gedeon Kharon, his brother, Alexander Kharon, and Alexander’s son, now Fr Symeon. The whole family lived for a time in the Russian Women’s Home of Mercy, when Father Gedeon was the chaplain there. Seems to me Fr Gedeon might have served out at Russian River as well. Probably, Metropolitan Jonah remembers the family from when he was a monk out here at St Eugene’s/St John of Shanghai Monastery. By the way, someone here wrongfully and unintelligently opined that Metropolitan Jonah had not been a monk very long before becoming an abbot. What an idea! Jonah was a monk for YEARS there. Rather than appoint him abbot, I appointed Fr Nicholas Soraich, the Chancellor, to be “Dean of the Monasteries”. He spent quite a while, with his unique management style and knowledge of Serbian monasticism, in trying to effect and maintain standard order in that monastery. It was, actually, like trying to herd cats. They all had cell phones and laptops; Fr Jonah had a car and travelled a lot, advertising monasticism. In fact, that’s how most people ever heard of Jonah, his peripatetic life extolling monastic life. He did go to Valaam for a while. He once told us about how strict the diet was there and how awful the fish soup. I asked him if he actually followed the monastic regimen. He chuckled in his way and answered, “Your Grace! You must be kidding! I couldn’t have survived on what they eat!”

Remember, the Synod now beginning a rape investigation, apparently did NOT investigate an episcopal candidate enough to know ANYTHING about his qualifications to be First among them, the Primate!!! They admit to being astonished and bewildered!!!! WHY did they elect him? If I had to make a charge against them in a church court, it would be something like, “They acted, contrary to their episcopal vows, ‘in fear of the people’”.

Love BT posted the above drivel at 14.45 today… ergo, Love BT likes kicking people who can’t kick back. That’s maliciousness… that’s sadism… that’s cruelty. Oh, yes… Love BT was one of the bishops who elected Herman Swaiko First Hierarch of the OCA; so, all of the complaints that he levels at the OCA Holy Synod, he levels at himself. Isn’t it amusing how the wicked always end by harpooning themselves?

Rod Dreher is on Monomakhos dumping on JP. That loud ignorant toddler should shut his mouth. He’s still shitting in his nappies, and he’s got the goddamned gall to make comments as though he’s a grounded adult. He’s never once taken “flak” for standing up to crook clergy; he’s the konvertsy faction’s drooling lapdog. He doesn’t know a cannon from a canon… but he’s a great expert! Freddie M-G says so. I’ll be blunt, one of my contacts in Northern California saw Dreher and Freddie driving from Platina, after visiting their guru, Gleb Podmoshensky. He should keep his mouth shut… he’s as deep in the shit pit as JP is. In any case, grounded people know when to stop “kicking”. Immature brats like Dreher don’t. I find him utterly beneath contempt and simply nasty to be around. He’s devilish… simply devilish… and I’m not alone in that opinion of him.

17 July 2012. Love BT on JP… and a Word on Kicking Those Who are Down

One of the Cabinet sent me something posted on Monomakhos by Love BT. I looked at that site, and I concluded that it wasn’t a recent post. However, it does indicate what a certain segment of the apparat thought about JP, and it allows me to make a point about “kicking someone when they’re down”. Here it is:

By the way, someone here wrongfully and unintelligently opined that Metropolitan Jonah hadn’t been a monk very long before becoming an abbot. In fact, that’s how most people heard of Jonah, his peripatetic life extolling monastic life. He did go to Valaam  for a while. He once told us about how strict the diet was there and how awful he found the fish soup. I asked him if he actually followed the monastic regimen. He chuckled in his way, and answered, “Your Grace! You must be kidding! I couldn’t have survived on what they eat!”

This was known for quite some time; yet, those who spoke likewise were quashed by the First Family apparat. However, now that JP, apparently, is out of the running, we should all lay off him. Mind you, he bears careful watching… mind you, the Holy Synod should issue a zhurnal restricting his movements, and specifying where he can worship for the time being. All things being equal, we mustn’t forget that JP has an enthusiastic coterie that hasn’t given up on him. If you doubt my words, log onto to Monomakhos… I rest my case.

JP was only a symptom. We haven’t even begun to treat the underlying disease. All of us who’re adults now will pass on before we finish the task of healing our broken Church. In short, we’ve only started on our way to the Promised Land (we’re nowhere near Mt Sinai yet, not near it at all)… and all too many of us are still dancing about the Golden Calf. We have a long and hard road ahead of us, and the immediate near future isn’t going to be pretty in the least. It’s time to start going home…

Moscow Outraged At Neo-Nazi Campaign in Estonia

March in honour of collaborators in Latvia… none dare call it evil…

______________________________

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) responded to a meeting of Estonian Waffen-SS veterans at the Congress of the so-called Union of the Estonian Fighters for Freedom. The MID wrote, “The attempts made by the Estonian authorities to glorify fascist collaborators aren’t defensible. Such meetings glorify former SS officers and locals who collaborated with the Nazis. We can’t see this as anything other than an intentional promotion of neo-Nazi sentiments in Estonia and as a mockery of the memory of those who saved the world from fascism”. What particularly offends Moscow is the fact that Estonian Defence Minister Urmas Reinsalu attended the meeting.

Editor’s Note:

The USA sheltered Baltic and Galician Nazi collaborators after World War II, shielding them from legal prosecution (it made a special legal exception for these SS thugs, are the US authorities saw them as anti-Russian and anti-communist allies of capitalism). Langley even helped amoral monsters such as Skorzeny and Barbie to escape justice in the immediate post-war years. That’s why I find the recent persecution of John Demjanjuk so immoral and depraved. Demjanjuk was nothing but a perimeter guard at worst… he never ever made a single executive decision, even at the humble level of section leader. There’s no proof that he even touched a concentration camp inmate, let alone beaten or killed any. On the other hand, the USA (both Republican and Democratic administrations, by the way), coddled and cosseted the worst SS thugs and murderers; it was because they were “anti-communist”, dontcha know.

The Union of the Estonian Fighters for Freedom began under the umbrella of the so-called Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations, formed in 1943 in the German-occupied Ukraine, and, later, a Langley front organisation. Its leader after World War II was Yaroslav Stetsko, a fanatic Banderist and Galician Uniate, who collaborated with the Nazis. Great bunch, eh? The Baltic and Galician diasporas are very vociferous in their defence of SS filth. Sad to say, some diaspora Russians engage in the same wicked (secular) blasphemy. There are all too many who glorify the 15 SS Cossack Cavalry Corps… they’re painted up as martyrs in some sections of the Russian-American diaspora (some groups closely tied to Jordanville are particularly virulent). The DP element particularly mythologised the action at Lienz (doubtlessly, they’ll pillory me for not taking the side of the Nazi collaborators). These Cossacks willingly fought for the Nazis in Yugoslavia… they didn’t fight for the “liberation” of Russia (the so-called Russian Corps fought in the Balkans as well, but as they were émigrés from Yugoslavia, that, at least, makes some form of sense).

All in all, it’s a very tangled skein… it’s one of the reasons why Russians so hate the USA. After all, would you trust those who harboured and coddled those who stabbed you in the back?
