14 August 2012. Update on Parma OH Situation…

______________________________

A Cabinet member from the Midwest whispered:

Two things about Cleveland… the Midwest Diocesan Assembly is already scheduled for early October in Cleveland (don’t know which parish is the host), and Alexander Garklavs has only been the priest in the Parma parish for a few months.

Does this mean that the Sobor will be after October? Or, does it mean that the Sobor will take the place of the Diocesan Assembly? Garklavs is an old Syosset insider… ’tis true. That’s why his interaction with his exilers (Lyonyo and Jillions) is going to be so bloody INTERESTING. What’s the upshot of all this? Only the Shadow knows…

MID Sez Syria Situation Caused a “Propaganda War”

______________________________

On Tuesday, after a Saudi newspaper claimed a Russian diplomat said in an interview that Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad is ready to resign, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) said that the situation in Syria has touched off a propaganda war. MID spokesman Mariya Zakharova said, “We’d like to emphasise that the newspaper report isn’t true, and the Russian representative hasn’t given any such interview”. Earlier, a number of western media outlets cited the Al Watan newspaper report. The Saudi publication quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov as saying that Assad’s brother Maher lost his legs in a Damascus explosion in July and that the president may soon resign. Zakharova said, “Regretfully, we have to state that the situation in Syria is becoming an object of a propaganda war, some of whose participants don’t stop short of using dirty tricks. It’s no secret either that some media, which from the very start covered events in Syria tendentiously, distort Russia’s principled position and sometimes even resort to open dezinformatsiya”. A few chief editors have changed at Al Watan in the past year. Some experts describe the publication as a tabloid.

The Syrian conflict has claimed between 14,000 and 20,000 lives since March 2011, according to estimates by various opposition groups and the UN. The West is pushing for Assad’s ouster, whilst Russia and China are trying to prevent outside interference in the country, claiming the Assad régime and the opposition are both to blame for the bloodshed.

14 August 2012. Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, or, Rector, Rector, Who’s the Rector?

______________________________

A Cabinet member piped up:

Look at who the priest is there! You can’t make this shit up! V Rev Alexander Garklavs!

That IS interesting. Lyonyo and Jillions going into Garklavs’ lair… that bids fair to be a “not to be missed” sockdolager. Oh, they’ll all be polite on the surface… but it’ll be the Friday Night Fights in the back-room. The plot’s getting thicker, kids…

14 August 2012. The Buzz Sez that the OCA Sobor’s Due for Parma OH… a Cleveland Suburb… Is That True?

______________________________

I got this from a Cabinet member:

The Sobor‘s going to be in Parma OH… you heard it from me first.

No doubt, now that the buzz is loud enough for me to hear it, do you think that Lil’ Mizz Ginny may get off her layabout dzopa and post it? Perspirin’ minds wanna know! By the way, Parma’s a Cleveland suburb full o’ Happy Hunkie kolbasa biters. That means that the sobor IS taking place in the same venue (more or less) as the 1946 Sobor… fancy that.
