11 October 2012. The Buzz Sez that Roddy Dreher May Jump to the ROCOR… Will They Put Up With His Ignorant Far Right BS?

______________________________

Just got this from one of the Cabinet:

Rumour has it that Roddy’s going to the ROCOR. I wonder how long he’ll last there… they won’t put up with his bullshit.

Is that ever true! Since the reconciliation, the ROCOR is now part of the MP… and the MP leans LEFT politically. That’s right, LEFT. It gives Church awards to Pyotr Simonenko and Gennady Zyuganov, not rightwingers like Prokhorov or Chubais. That is, Roddy may be part of an atypical Hard Right faction around Victor Potapov, but Potapov’s mortal and human… trust me, the MP isn’t going to appoint another rightwinger to St John the Baptist in the District. Reflect on this… the MP official website pumped up a liturgy with Bishop Mel at St Nick’s on 6 October… it had nothing to say about Shevkunov‘s Dixie Fry with Potapov and Fathausen on Sunday.

In any case, Vladyki Hilarion Kapral should stuff a sock in Dreher’s big mouth… he has nothing to say, and he has to stop badmouthing the Catholics. Dreher’s got a lot to learn… but he can’t learn a thing until he shuts up. It’s going to take him YEARS to grasp Orthodoxy, and he won’t have a clue until he halts his public utterances completely. I know what I’m talking about. I walked away from it all for about ten years… it was “exile” and “quiet”… you learn a lot. Will Roddy learn? God alone knows… but he’ll have to shut up so God can talk. That remains to be seen…

11 October 2012. Perich Wants to Go to the District… Sir Roddie Keeping a VERY Low Profile

______________________________

Got this from one of the usual places:

Perich wants to go to DC full time, but Tikhon won’t release him.  In fact, he’s only allowed to go there one Sunday a month.  He’s there to raise money because people stopped giving because of JP’s changes to everything.

That’s where the rubber hits the road, kids. The konvertsy make a loud noise on the internet, but they can’t support a real Church by themselves. Here’s some more intel on Perich:

It makes me sick that Perich is there handing out “gifts”. A friend bought a turn-of-the-20th century samovar from Perich years ago; last year, they tried to sell it, but it turned out to be a fake! OK… you can say that maybe Perich didn’t know this, but he brags about knowing these things.

Someone was bitchin’ about something on the Blunder’s website. I replied:

Tikhon Shevkuov kisses the oligarchs‘ asses, I’m told. That’s a pity, as he does have good things to say. So, of course, he’d LOVE JP & Co. My sources tell me that he doesn’t have blat. After all, they’re making bishops of young guys in their 30s (and Tikhon’s 54)… a friend at the Centre says that he dyes his hair and beard… he’s vain, she said. This stuff is from the Blunder’s website. It ain’t on the main official website… it’s much ado about nothing… it doesn’t merit a reply.

That’s right, Shevkunov’s visit isn’t getting much play on the main MP website. There was a mention of the shindig at St Nick’s in the District on 6 October, with Bishop Mel as the main celebrant (fancy that). No mention of Fathausen at all. In fact, there’s not much on Shevkunov’s visit at all. So, all the konvertsy Sturm und Drang on the net is much ado about nothing… signifying nothing.

I got this intel on Sir Roddie:

Roddy Dreher’s sure been quiet… which is a relief… he’s no longer bloviating about JP.

I wrote back:

He’s not as dumb as Fathausen, Freddie, and Tosi are. Howdya like Tosi’s gig of stiffing retired priests 50 bucks for the Sobor dinner? One of the Serbian parishes in Parma OH runs a fish fry… we should have them do the dinner and give the gaffers free entry… that’s the ticket.

You see, Roddie left the National Review because the gibbering neocon clowns took over after WFB died (may his memory be eternal… he was an honourable foe with STANDARDS… not a Paul Ryan or Wet Willy). He ended up with Buchanan and Taki because the Chronicles crowd wouldn’t have him. Firstly, they view him as a loud n’ crude Catholic apostate (which he is), and, secondly, they already have a real Orthodox Christian on their staff, Srđa Trifković, so, they don’t need a clueless wannabe like Dreher. That made him even less welcome than Sam Francis was in paleocon circes.

In any case, Roddy’s no Conservative in the actual Burkean/Bismarckian sense (indeed, they’re VERY rare in the USA… most “conservatives” are Radical (in the French sense) Rightists, not the same thing at all), for one thing he lacks stability. He’s lived in some place in Mid-AmericaBrooklyn, Texas, and the District; he imbibed none of the true spirit of the first three places… I feel sorry for his wife and kids. He’s a rootless “cosmopolite”… someone with no home, ergo, he doesn’t have a “soul”. He has no sense of real Tradition, Heritage, History, and Continuity. On top of that, his grasp of the Orthosphere’s culture and Weltanschauung is tenuous at best, absolutely ignorant at worse. That’s why I believe that he should shut up about Orthodoxy… he has nothing to bring to the table save his arrogance and conceit.

Pass me the jug… the world’s being its usual self…

11 October 20012. A Picture IS Worth a Thousand Words… HH with Russian Orthodox Athletes

______________________________

What impresses me about the above image is that HH wants the Church to enter into and bless ALL of human endeavour, and that does include sport (should I mention that Fr Vsevolod‘s a big-time footy fan?). Note how boxing champ Nikolai Valuev looks like an intelligent human being, not a monster, as so many of the Western images portray him. Nikolai Sergeyevich isn’t only athletically-gifted, he’s a well-educated man who’s done acting and is a deputy in the RF Gosduma. I love what he told a judge when a jerk-off jabronie accused him of assaulting him, “If I had wanted to hurt him, I would have” (ain’t that the truth… simply put and clear-cut). Oh, by the way, the schmidiot was messing with Nikolai Sergeyevich’s wife… NOT a good idea (especially, as she didn’t care for it one bit). One last item before we go… HH included some of Russia’s successful Paralympians as part of this group… and made no special fuss over them. That’s as it should be… they’re simply athletically-gifted people with physical disabilities, not “special” athletes. Russia has placed its Paralympians on the same level as its Olympians (same recognition, same awards, same money for medals)… now, it’s time for America to do the same.

HH with Russian Orthodox sportsmen… now, that’s the ticket…

Soviet Spymaster Remembers Che

______________________________

Forty-five years after Che Guevara’s death, a senior former Soviet/Russian intelligence officer paid tribute to the legendary revolutionary, disclosing some details of his life and death in an exclusive interview with RIA-Novosti. Lieutenant General (retired) Nikolai Leonov, of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), a successor to the KGB, first met Che long before the victory of the Cuban revolution, describing him as an “overwhelming figure” that belongs to all generations. Leonov, who retired as the head of the KGB Analytical Directorate in August 1991, said, “He was the embodiment of mythical and literary types that always struck a chord with people. In such cases I think of Christ the Saviour and Don Quixote”.

Leonov said he was the first Russian to meet Che, in 1956, in Mexico, saying, “He was just another guy. At the time we were both average young men”, adding that no one who had ever known him could think of a case where Che Guevara was cruel. Che was an absolutely independent, “holistic” political figure, who “always acted in Cuba’s national interests, as well as in the interests of all Latin American nations”. The Soviet reaction to the victory of the Cuban revolution greatly impressed Guevara, in particular, the readiness of then-Soviet leaders Nikita Khrushchyov and Aleksei Kosygin to provide all-out support and assistance. Che flew to Moscow not as a diplomat, but on a mission to sell 2 million tons of sugar that Cuba couldn’t sell in the USA. Waxing sentimental about the USSR, Leonov noted that Che was amazed at how more than 260 million Soviet citizens were able to live without having to worry about becoming rich at the expense of others. Che dreamed about freeing mankind from the lust for money. “Money is a horrible thing that sticks to you like toxic glue”, Leonov cited Che as saying.

Commenting on Che Guevara’s revolutionary activity in the Congo, Bolivia, and other Latin American countries, Leonov said it would be wrong to compare it to the export of colour revolutions by the Americans across the world, noting, “Che had very clear social goals… to make life better for the people, for the majority. None of those who are now organising colour revolutions cry at the sight of other people’s distress, but Che Guevara cried. That was why he went to the Congo, Bolivia, and Cuba”. Leonov claimed that the Bolivians killed Che on orders from the CIA. Although Bolivian President General René Barrientos Ortuño formally issued the order, he acted on peremptory advice from the CIA station chief in Bolivia, who was in charge of the operation. The USA acted in a great hurry to get rid of Che, seeing him as “a colossal danger… greater than a nuclear bomb dropped on American territory. His image still haunts the USA now”.
