I know a very dear couple who left a parish partly because they couldn’t take the draconian “dress-code” emphasis. Certainly, while the (mostly-convert) congregation was modestly-dressed, by berating and chiding others, they lost any possible claim to being a house of spiritual uplift and worship of Him Who, at His moment of triumph, was dressed only in a loincloth.
