Patriarch Kirill Expected in Minsk as Part of the Celebration of the 1025th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus

On Friday, the official MP website stated that Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of Moscow and all the Russias shall visit Belarus in late July to participate in the celebrations of the 1,025th anniversary of the Baptism of RusMetropolitan Philaret Vakhromeyev of Minsk and Slutsk said at a meeting of the Synod of the Belarusian Exarchate in Minsk, “We’re preparing to commemorate the anniversary of 1,025 years of Christianity in Russia. We’ll hold celebrations in Minsk at the end of July. We expect that the First Hierarch of the MP, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, and the heads and representatives of other Local Orthodox Churches would be present”. He pointed up that an organising committee, made of up Belarus government officials and three bishops of the Exarchate, is at work planning and preparing for the upcoming festivities. The events marking the 1,025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia will occur in Moscow, Kiev, and Minsk on 24-30 July. Recently, the Patriarch and the President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko discussed the preparations for the events.

Jillions wrote that Mollard’s going to Belarus and Russia, besides the Ukraine. Hmm… it looks like the OCA group will be subsumed in Kirill’s cavalcade. It looks as though Mollard’s been given a kiddie-seat role at all three venues of the celebrations. Perspirin’ minds wanna know… is there going to be a ROCOR contingent too? Still… Nibs is giving Mollard a better deal than he ever gave Fatty. That’s worth notice…
