On Tuesday, independent pollster Levada Centre said that more than half of Russians polled regret the breakup of the USSR; they believe that we could’ve avoided it. Of 1,600 respondents polled in 45 Russian federal subjects, 57 percent bemoaned the collapse of the USSR, whilst 30 percent said that they didn’t regret it, and 13 percent had difficulty answering. Seniors tended more to nostalgia than younger people. Only 37 percent of respondents aged 25 to 39 said that they regretted the collapse of the USSR. However, that figure reached 86 percent amongst those 55 and older. Only 29 percent said that the breakup was inevitable, whilst 53 percent said that we could’ve avoided it. The rest of the respondents couldn’t say one way or the other. The USSR formally ended on 26 December 1991.

Editor’s Note:

When asked who the most influential politician in Russia was, VVP answered, “Gennady Zyuganov”. Pro-Western journalists sniggered at that. I believe that Vova knows the country better than they do. As a former member of the organy, he has no illusions about life, none at all. He knows that the “provinces” want the USSR back, and that the KPRF is the only real political party in the country. Besides that, only the KPRF is looking to the future in a real way, Gennady Andreyevich wants the young firebrand Sergei Udaltsov to replace him as leader when he steps down.

VVP wants no chaos when he steps down. The country agrees with him. I believe that Sergei Udaltsov will be the next real leader of Russia, and he may very well restore the old Union under the guise of the Eurasian Union (EvrAsS). Russia will end its present infatuation with the West and sweep away the godless neoliberal crapitalism now regnant. I wouldn’t want to be an oligarch, then… there’ll be a new emigration (the Affluent Effluent will flee to the USA, where the Republicans will ooh and ah over them)… the citizens of the Union will say, “Good riddance to bad rubbish”, and most of the world will agree with them. I wonder what the ROCOR will do when (not, if) that happens (will Potapov, Lebedeff, and Whiteford flip yet again?)… perspirin’ minds wanna know!

14 January 2014. A Tale of Two Images… oca.org Fumbles the Ball… Did You Expect Otherwise?

00 Metropolitan Rostislav Gont of Prešov PCČKS. lowres. 14.01.14

Look at the above image. It’s the usual low-res shit that oca.org posts. Now, look at the image posted below.

******

00 Metropolitan Rastislav Gont of Prešov PCČKS. 14.01.14 – Resized

______________________________

Through the magic of knowing how to actually use the computer, I found a larger image than that posted by oca.org. The above image’s original was 773 pixels in width, the oca.org rubbish was only 217 pixels in width. Then, I used the “rule of thirds” to recast the orientation of the main figure, recomposing the image to balance the light and dark areas, and did a little image cleanup to make Vladyki Rаstislav the main figure. With a little help from Photoshop, I spiffed everything up, and it didn’t take long at all! I’ll tell the doofuses at oca.org that they can use the above image if they want to… in fact, they could step it down to 600 pixels from its present 800 pixels, and it’d still be three times the size of their pathetic piss-poor effort.

In fact, compare these two posts (here and here)… which one told you more about Vladyki Rastislav and the PCČZS/PCČKS? Which one had links for you to follow to find out more, if you wanted to? There’s no doubt… oca.org’s staff is lazy, bone-idle, and incompetent; they’re running dogs waiting to hear Their Master’s Voice (Lyonyo keeps them on a tight leash, no doubt), probably overeducated nudniks, terribly-uninterested in informing their public. I understand that most of the OCA‘s following in the Lower 48 are Carpatho ethnics… ergo, anything about the PCČZS/PCČKS is of great interest to them. Since oca.org didn’t pick up on that, not only now, but in the past as well, one has to conclude that they’re clueless on the one hand, and arrogant konvertsy on the other.

Shame on them… they all deserve the boot. Reflect on this… such arrogant condescension is “business as usual” from the First Families. That does need to change… and, yes, we CAN do it…

City of Winnipeg sez “Bah, Humbug!” on Orthodox Christmas… Gives Tickets to Believers for Parking on Street Without Snow Emergency Signage

00 Christmas in Winnipeg. parking tickets. 14.01.14

______________________________

Parishioners from two churches in Winnipeg‘s North End got a nasty surprise from the city when they emerged from Orthodox Christmas services this week… parking tickets on their vehicles. The city issued 15 people with 75 CAD (2,890 Roubles. 69 USD. 76.25 AUD. 50.50 Euros. 42 UK Pounds) fines for parking on streets scheduled for snow removal. Twelve of those who received tickets attended Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection (ROCOR) on 732 Alfred Avenue, whilst three were from Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Cathedral (OCA) at 643 Manitoba Avenue. On Tuesday morning, all were celebrating Orthodox Christmas when the city ticketed their vehicles on the streets outside the churches. Igumen Raphael Vereshak of Holy Resurrection parish said, “When they left the service, they all had these Christmas presents from the city, which were tickets on their cars”. The street was due for ploughing, but Igumen Raphael said that there wasn’t any signage near the church warning the parishioners, most of whom don’t live in the area.

On Wednesday night, some of those who got tickets expressed their outrage at the city. Yuri Sechan told CBC News, “I think it’s some kind of discrimination against us”. Fedor Ivashkin said, “I think everybody in City Hall knows that January 7 is a very big day for Orthodox people”. At Holy Trinity Cathedral, Fr Roman Pavlov said that his parishioners discovered parking tickets on their vehicles in the middle of his service on Tuesday. Fr Roman said that the fines put a damper on his congregation’s Ukrainian Christmas celebrations, saying, “They came and they were punished for their visit to the church. They showed their faith, and they [were] beat for that. Why?”

Some of the fined parishioners said that they called the city’s 311 line; it told them that they could fill out a complaint form, but that they wouldn’t get an answer for several weeks. Parking fines, if not paid in two weeks from the date of issue, go up from 75 CAD to 150 CAD (5,760 Roubles. 138 USD. 152.50 AUD. 101 Euros. 84 UK Pounds). Both priests asked their city councillor to help them lobby the Winnipeg Parking Authority into getting into the holiday spirit, to spare their parishioners. Igumen Raphael said, “We would really ask the parking authority to waive those tickets”. City officials told CBC News that they’d give out information on Thursday.

Editor’s Note:

I’ll bet ya that this is already resolved and put to bed. There are two reasons… firstly, Winnipeg is in the heart of the “Pierogie Empire” on the Prairies. There are more Ukies there than there are anywhere else on the planet save for Galicia itself. Secondly, Manitoba is hardcore NDP country (four of six premiers since 1969 have been NDP)… soulless Conservative Party greedsters don’t run it (as they do neighbouring Alberta). You CAN shame an NDPer into doing the right thing… but it’s impossible to shame a Conservative Party member… they’re as impervious and thickheaded as American Republicans are (compare the late Jack Layton with Stephen Harper… I rest my case).

Bah, humbug!

One last thing… by the way, the North End of Winnipeg is Redder than Rudolph’s nose! It’s always been pro-union and pro-working class. Trust me, the Ukies, Polacks, and Russkies were in the lead of the sansculotte rabble-rousers, yessiree! Our Russian Orthodox legacy in Canada and the USA is LEFTIST (after all, our dedes worked in the mines and mills, not the executive suite or counting house)… didn’t the rightie konvertsy learn our history before joining us? Silly wabbits…

This post has a reply written by Igumen Raphael, one of the priests mentioned in the above article. It’s good stuff… not konvertsy nonsense. I class it as “read n’ heed”…
