Zavtra reported the details of a confrontation at the gates of the Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra. Before midnight, a group of men in camouflage, calling themselves “defenders of the Maidan” showed up near the entrance. Igor Stokalich, a press officer of the UOC/MP, told us, “Around 23.30, Pyotr Poroshenko came; Metropolitan Antony Pakanich of Borispol and Brovary, the Chancellor of the UOC/MP came out to meet him. Poroshenko assured the holy fathers, ‘Don’t worry… nobody’s gonna grab anything’. Supposedly, the guys in cammies were going to ‘protect’ the monastery. The militants deployed around the Lavra. The brothers asked them, ‘Who ordered this?’ They replied, ‘The crowd (on the Maidan) did’. At least, this bunch wasn’t belligerent”.
“However, around midnight, bellicose masked militants appeared in front of the barrier, replacing the original ‘defenders’… some of them had firearms. The new arrivals called themselves ‘UPA-tsy’. Unlike the first group, they were very rude. They shouted at the monks, ‘You cursed us! You supported Yanukovich! The Moscow Patriarchate is a fifth column!’ and other such rot. Hastily, the Fathers shut all the gates and rang the bells in the Near Caves belltower. Within minutes, the brotherhood and the resident seminarists gathered at the entrance gate. For an hour, they chanted prayers to drown out the impudent shouts of the UPA-tsy. At the end of that time, the ill-disposed mob melted away”.
“This morning, everything was quiet… people came and went for services, calm reigned over the monastery. Nearby, there were about a dozen militants, but they weren’t stroppy at all”. According to Stokalich, the Lavra deliberately refrained from calling out the Cossacks to protect the monastery during the violence, saying, “We didn’t want to seem to be the centre of opposition to the Maidan… did you think that we wanted to give that impression? We have nothing to fear. The only thing that we stand for is Orthodoxy. We’re not Berkut; we’re not the Rada“. When asked if any of the previously-pro-UOC/MP politicians showed up to support the monks when the threat of an assault became a reality, Stokalich said, “When push came to shove, the monks were left alone to deal with the thugs”.

You trust Pyotr Poroshenko at your own risk. He kissed Kerry‘s ass in a major way at the recent conference in München. He wants to hand the Ukraine over to the EU for an economic gang rape; he wants NATO to have bases in the Ukraine (no doubt, to protect his ill-gotten boodle… he’s the “candy king” of the Ukraine). Therefore, his word to the Lavra fathers was worth less than a fart in a hurricane. I think that the fathers will have to call out the Cossacks in the end (or, they’ll show up, “uninvited” but welcome)… the situation deteriorates hourly, Yanukovich is on the loose, the Crimea is almost junta-free, and Kharkov Oblast and Donetsk Oblast are in effectual revolt. Don’t attend to the Western media… they DO have an agenda, after all.
I pity the people of Little Russia… they wanted honesty in their government, but what they got was a junta headed by the only Ukrainian politician more dishonest than Yanukovich was . Yuliya was clever… she had her minions pull a political “bait-and-switch“… no one would’ve gone to the barricades for Yuliya! However, that’s what they got… and the West was stupid to have let it happen. The new temporary President destroyed records when he was the head of the SBU (for a rather short time, I might say)… the new head of the MVDU is an outright criminal with an Interpol “red notice” on him. That’s what the West says is “good for the Ukraine”… John Kerry, Catherine Ashton, Angela Merkel, and John McCain showed their true colours… they’re all smiling enablers of criminals. After all, anyone who allows Western multinationals to rape a country is “good”, no matter what they did in the past…
The putschists have a media and internet presence… AND THAT’S ALL, FOLKS. Bite the coin before accepting it… there be counterfeits in circulation…

On Tuesday, the Human Rights Centre of the World Russian People’s Council (VRNS) called on the Ukrainian junta to maintain an equitable language policy in the country. In a statement transmitted by the VRNS to Interfax, “It’s symbolic that the first (!) meaningful act of the Rada in its present form was abolishing the country’s tolerant language law”. The paper pointed up that the law allowed all oblasts where the minority language population exceeded 10 percent of total residents could use the ethnic minority language as a second official (regional) language. In some oblasts, that right extended to speakers of Magyar (Hungarian), Romanian, and several other languages, but above all, it applied mostly to the ethnic Russians in the Ukraine.
The VRNS Human Rights Centre reported that the practise of regional bilingualism, taking into account the linguistic rights of national minorities under the European Charter, is widespread and is an established fixture throughout Europe. The VRNS observed, “Textbook examples are the regional status of Swedish in Finland, Finnish in Sweden, German in Denmark, Frisian in Germany, and so on, not to mention such multinational countries such as Belgium and Switzerland. Many states espouse the principle of linguistic federalism, not discriminating against the interests of any of their ethnic communities”. The VRNS noted that it’s common international practise in both Western and Eastern Europe, “Therefore, the actions of the Ukrainian politicians look like a transition to a nationalist policy marked by bigotry and culturocide (культуроцида). We hope that Ukrainian politicians reject chauvinistic approaches to language and linguistic rights of their resident ethnic groups”.

Культуроцида/Culturocide is an interesting neologism. I find it useful… do you?
By the way, one of the reasons why the putschists have a Rada majority is that many members are “missing”, as much as 25 percent of the membership is “in limbo”. My, my, my… doesn’t that fit “illegitimate” and “corrupt?” I can see why Yuliya wants out of Dodge… the junta isn’t long for this world, and she knows it. As I said earlier, I wonder how much of the Ukrainian treasury she’s going to take with her to Berlin. Y’know… Botox and plastic surgery ain’t cheap.
