Police sources told RIA-Novosti that cops in Sevastopol arrested a young man with a Makarov pistol, who opened fire on druzhinniki in Gagarin Raion last night, but there were no injuries. The cops told us that the gunman came from Ivano-Frankovsk with three accomplices, saying, “The suspects rented an apartment in the city, where we found drugs, firearms, and edged weapons. They told us that they got the weapons in Kiev, where they took an active part in clashes with police”. He added that the perps carried anti-Russian propaganda material to Sevastopol. At present, the cops are interrogating the suspects to investigate their contacts.

An anonymous Ukrainian security source told RIA-Novosti that Ukrainian radicals are preparing provocations on the Crimean border with the Crimea, timed to coincide with the all-Crimea popular referendum on 16 March. The source said, “There are reports that Ukrainian radical groups are preparing provocations on Crimean border timed to coincide with the popular referendum on 16 March”.

Vladimir Konstantinov, Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea (VS ARK), told reporters in Simferopol that the all-Crimea popular referendum slated for 16 March would take place without any provocations, saying, “Today, we completely control the situation on the peninsula. We don’t foresee any provocations. We have enough forces to maintain order. There won’t be any provocations, let’s hope that no one even wants to commit them”.

On Monday, Fyodor Bondarchuk, director, producer, and actor, and member of the ruling council of the United Russia faction, said, “It’s necessary to invite a many observers to confirm the results of all-Crimea referendum in the Crimea, so that no one doubts that the outcome is the will of the Crimean people. For me, I think that the results of the referendum are clear. However, for the international community to find it 100 percent legitimate, having observers would be of great help”. Bondarchuk believes that the Crimea always gravitated toward Russia, and Moscow should support this aspiration, saying, “The only thing that I’m worried about is that Ukrainian propaganda would distort the results of the referendum. Therefore, we must do everything to ensure the legitimacy of this referendum through having international observers present”. He said that it wouldn’t surprise him if the international community wouldn’t accept the results of the referendum, noting, “The fact that they couldn’t admit it isn’t a revelation for me, because you can recognise that it doesn’t fit into their philosophy of a New World Order. However, again, I think it most necessary for us to make the process as open as possible”.

A source in the Self-Defence Forces of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea (ARK) said that Ukrainian radicals staged a provocation near the border village of Chingar. He told us that, at this moment, Ukrainian radicals are staging provocations in the village, saying, “Several dozen men and women lay down on the road, trying to make it seem that they were blocking a military vehicle from crossing the Ukrainian border. The ARK Self-Defence Forces hope that the media won’t fall for this provocation. The ARK government also thinks that the actions of these Ukrainian radicals are a provocation”.

Aleksandr Bochkarev, a commander of the People’s Militia of the ARK, told RIA-Novosti by telephone that a second draft of volunteers, about 40 people, took the oath of allegiance to the ARK in Simferopol. At present, about 1,500 personnel are in the ARK Self-Defence Force. The first group of volunteers swore allegiance to the ARK on 8 March. Bochkarev told us, “We swore in about 40 people, aged from 22 to 50. We mustered them right into the ARK militia, as all previously served in either the armed forces or the police. All are fit for military service and have the necessary military skills. We carefully checked that as they’ll be carrying arms”. Bochkarev said that there‘d be regular oath ceremonies in the ARK, noting, “Right now, we’re building up our armed forces. Later on, after the referendum, if we decide to rejoin Russia, we might keep on some of the guys, some might want to demob, and some won’t meet our standards”.

A source in the ARK Self-Defence Forces reported provocations near the border village of Chingar. Earlier Monday, a source in the ARK Self-Defence Forces stated that Ukrainian radicals staged a provocation near Chingar. They said that about 30 cars with Euromaidan decorations, with about 60-70 people inside, tried to infiltrate the ARK to try to set up a Euromaidan there. Cossack patrols stopped them, and the radicals retreated after an argument. The ARK Self-Defence Forces are in control of the situation.

The Presidium of the VS ARK said that the Timoshenko junta blocked about 1 billion gryvnia (3.95 billion Roubles. 108 million USD. 121 million CAD. 120 million AUD. 78 million Euros. 65 million UK Pounds) intended for pensions, public sector wages, and social benefits. A VS ARK statement said, “Over the past four months whilst the Euromaidan rioters in Kiev ‘peacefully’ rallied, Crimeans worked to build up the budget. In ‘gratitude’, the junta blocked our accounts in Kiev, locking up no less than a billion gryvnia Crimeans earned lawfully”. The Presidium of the VS ARK declared that this was a ploy to disrupt the scheduled 16 March all-Crimea popular referendum on the status of the ARK, saying, “The purpose of this action is to put us on our knees, to deprive us of our livelihood, stealing the wages of nearly 200,000 people and leaving 180,000 families without child benefits”. The VS ARK intends to challenge the blocking of accounts in court and recover the money “shamelessly stolen by Kiev”. However, the VS ARK promised that all it would see to it that it paid all social benefits and public sector wages in full and on time {no doubt, with Russian money: editor}.
Editor’s Note:
The White House is expostulating over the referendum. Kiss my ass, Jay Carney. You’re a ridiculous acolyte of Brzeziński… you’ve swallowed his White Polish lies whole without demur. Are you aware of what his father abetted? Did he tell you about the 150 Orthodox churches destroyed by the Beck fascists? Then again, you accept Joe Biden… whose mentor was an Ustaša priest from Croatia. In short, your outrage is hypocritical, selective, without foundation, and specious. The only thing that you care about in life is your comfortable existence amongst the District well-heeled… I’d say that patriotism and service never entered your pointy little head. Let’s consider the source… Jay Carney’s a PR flack… such sorts believe in nothing but their pay-packets.
Yet, rest easy… the USA can’t do much. It has no military forces to send; the troops are war-weary, and they’d rebel at one more pointless oligarch war. It has no money to spend; the government wasted it all on useless wars of aggression fought on tick so as not to discomfit the affluent effluent (Jay Carney’s preferred companions). In short, the USA is a “Gummi Löwe”, a Rubber Lion that roars and roars, but can’t do a single thing. That’s good, kids…
Oh, one last thing… there’s very little solid news coming out of junta-controlled areas. I think that they control next to nothing… the armed forces aren’t paid… workers aren’t getting their wages… pensioners aren’t getting their allotments. If that isn’t a picture of a rapidly declining kleptocracy in free fall, I don’t know what it is.

Vladimir Konstantinov, Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea (VS ARK) said, “The time has come when we can fix the injustice that occurred 60 years ago and return the Crimea to where it belongs… as a part of the Russian state. The motherland is waiting for us. If we make the right choice, it’ll help if we do our best to adapt ourselves to our homeland’s norms. We’ve already established the necessary programmes for students, state employees, and retirees, to protect the interests of our citizens and allow them to avoid losses during the transition. We’re ready to help the central government of the Russian Federation and the Russian regions in accomplishing this. By rejoining Russia, Crimeans will finally be able to look confidently into the future. However, let’s focus on the main thing… we have a historic opportunity: we’ll always be Crimeans, we’re not going anywhere, but we’re going back home… to Russia. Let’s not miss it!”
