Greek Orthodox Indifferentism in Worcester MA NOT Good Omen for the Future

00 aghast polar bear. Oh, NO!!! 04.01.14

On Sunday, Worcester’s Roman Catholic Bishop Robert McManus will join Metropolitan Methodios Tournas of Boston and clergy of the Greek Orthodox Church in celebrating the Easter Agape Service at St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Russell Street. Fr Dean Paleologos, dean of St Spyridon, said the joint presence of the Greek Orthodox and Catholic bishops would commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historic meeting between Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras Spyrou {installed by the CIA in 1948 in an acanonical “coup”: editor} and Pope of Rome Paul VI Montini in Jerusalem in 1964. Fr Dean said, “Bishop McManus is also doing this because of his love for Metropolitan Methodios”. The joint appearance of the two current bishops is possible because Christian churches of the East and West are celebrating Easter on the same day. Eastern and Western churches use a different calendar in determining Easter. The service begins at 11.00 EDT will include vespers, preaching, and Gospel readings.

Editor:

This is inadmissible. It’s one thing to invite someone as a guest… Archbishop Vitaly Maksimenko of blessed memory did that when they consecrated the church at Jordanville. That’s a good thing. It’s another to have such an indifferentist event. It makes it seem to the simple that “union” is near, when it isn’t. I don’t hate Roman Catholics… they are what they are. They’re welcome amongst us at any time… but we’re not in communion, and we’re not in communion for good and sufficient reason. This isn’t a good augury for the upcoming all-Orthodox Sobor… if it even gets off the ground, that is. I fear that such a meeting, if it occurs, could well end in acrimony, with TWO Sobors occurring at once… a true Sobor at Novy Ierusalime under the aegis of the MP and a false robber’s council at the Phanar headed by the EP.

Why must we live in such “interesting” times? Ask God, I don’t know. Remember St Mark of EphesusPatriarch St Germogen of MoscowSt Maksim Sandovich, and the Martyrs of Talerhof… it’s our turn to “walk in their shoes”…
