Border guards at the Izvarino checkpoint told Ukrainskaya Pravda, “We’re not complaining, we’re ready to fight, but we still haven’t got any orders or commands, so, we don’t know what to do. We’re just another 9th company, everybody has forgotten about us”. The confrontation between at the Izvarino checkpoint between junta border guards and the opolchenie has been on since 8 June.
This isn’t the first time that junta border guards waited for help from Kiev, and after not receiving it, to surrender to the opolchenie or leave their posts. On 5 June, border guards at the Dolzhansky and Krasny Partizan checkpoints voluntarily laid down their arms and left their duty stations. For security reasons, they decided to go to Russia. The day before this, border guards of the Lugansk border guard detachment surrendered after a two-day siege. The unit held the line for two days, but despite the assurances of Kiev generals, they didn’t receive any help. The same day, personnel at another border post, in Sverdlovsk, left their post. They collected their things, put them into ten cars, and they took off for Kharkov.
The most sensational case of the junta’s refusal to back up its soldiers occurred in late March. Back then, Aleksei Nikiforov, Deputy Commander of the Kerch Naval Infantry Battalion, managed to reach then-acting Minister of Defence, Admiral Igor Tenyukh, during a live phone-in show on Ukrainian TV. He asked the Minister why there were no orders from Kiev, and how Ukrainian forces in the Crimea should act in the current situation. In response, instead of specific orders, the Minister accused Nikiforov of incompetence and literally hauled him up, “It’s a pity you have such bad morale amongst your troops. When you recruited your contract servicemen, you should’ve thought about it responsibly. You didn’t recruit them for a toy army, to show off in peacetime. Everything is decided in the face of the enemy”. Because of this tirade (and no practical help), most of the Kerch Naval Infantry Battalion rallied to Russia and joined the Russian Armed Forces.

Many “Ukrainian” units and service personnel rallied to Russia. NOT ONE Russian serviceman or opolchenie fighter rallied to the “Ukraine”… NONE (if it’d happened, the Western media would’ve trumpeted it LOUDLY). One of these things is NOT like the other! ‘Nuff said…

On Tuesday, according to RIA-Novosti, Valery Bolotov, head of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR), told journalists that opolchenie blockaded a large group of junta “National Guard” (sic) at Lugansk airport, giving them the opportunity to lay down arms and surrender. Bolotov said, “we’ve blockaded the airport and are trying to open negotiations”. About 2,000 “National Guard” (sic) junta irregulars along with armoured vehicles are at the airport. Bolotov noted, “If they laid down their arms, we’d allow them to leave without their weapons”.

On Tuesday, a local opolchenie source told ITAR-TASS that civilians are leaving Kramatorsk after heavy shelling last night, “The shelling damaged several workshops of the Energomashspetsstal plant. It was so intense that the concussion knocked items off their shelves in apartments. It started at midnight and lasted until 04.00 local time (18.00 PDT. 21.00 10 June EDT. 02.00 BST. 05.00 MSK. 11.00 AEST). Even those who stayed here during previous battles decided to flee the fighting today. People take their families and go where they can”.

IA Regnum reported, citing Rada People’s Deputy Igor Lutsenko, that an estimated 50 irregulars from the so-called “National Guard” (sic), who fought outside Slavyansk, have taken off for Kiev. The thugs found out that official documents stated that they didn’t take part in the repression operation in Novorossiya. This fact angered the terrorist band. Lutsenko said, “An estimated 50 ‘National Guardsmen’ (sic) left from Novy Petrovtsy for Kiev”. These irregulars were part of the first-ever “National Guard” (sic) battalion, raised from Uniate Euromaidan terrorists. The battalion was recently re-deployed from Slavyansk, but had to return to the front soon after. Nevertheless, part of the battalion did leave for Slavyansk.

You needed proof that the “National Guard” (sic) terrorists are undisciplined unmilitary filth? Well, look at the above… I rest my case… no REAL soldiers would act like that.

Anton Gerashenko, a MVDU official, claimed that the junta wants to seal off the border with Russia in the east. Earlier, the junta attempted to close off the eastern border, but only eight entry points remain closed at present. The junta alleges that armed volunteers enter Novorossiya via the Russian border, although Russian officials didn’t confirm this statement. Gerashenko said, “Whilst we should consider other options, we need to shut down the border immediately. We’re evaluating the necessary measures and methods now”. When asked whether they intend to use land mines, he said, “That’s risky. Minelaying on Ukrainian territory endangers the lives of Ukrainian citizens and livestock. Whilst national security is paramount, we need to consider the pros and cons of this particular option carefully. There are many other options other than using land mines, but they require both time and money, and we don’t have much of either”.
Editor:
The junta doesn’t have the money, resources, or personnel to close the border, even just in the LNR and DNR. Hell, it doesn’t control most of the border zone there… it’s porous as all hell. For instance, the DDR needed 50,000 Grenzpolizei to patrol the Inner German Border, which was 2/3 the length of the present Russian-Ukrainian border. The area in the LNR and DNR is about half of the 2,000-kilometres (1,240 miles) of land border. Ergo, the junta would need 75,000 personnel to secure the entire border on a level to that of the DDR. The junta doesn’t have that many reliable troops with the colours in total. Ergo, this is fatuous bullshit. Only dumbass Anglo Americans who don’t know any better will take this at face value. Russia and Novorossiya will laugh…

Interfax said that the LNR media centre reported that a fire started in a munitions plant in Lugansk. Three fire trucks are at the scene to control the blaze. The fire started in a vacant building, but there’s no danger of the fire spreading further. The factory makes equipment for ammunition production and small-arms ammunition.

Denis Pushilin, the head of the DNR Supreme Soviet, told Interfax, “A humanitarian corridor in Slavyansk to enable civilians to leave the city still doesn’t exist. Moreover, military action still goes on in the city. Perhaps, the Ukrainian army generals don’t report to P A Poroshenko”.
******
On Wednesday, Denis Pushilin, the head of the DNR Supreme Soviet, told reporters in Moscow that the DNR would negotiate with the Ukraine, but only with Russian mediation, saying, “If it happens with Russia’s mediation, we have some questions. We want a humanitarian corridor, exchange of POWs, and withdrawal of illegal armed groups from the Donbass. These are the first issues that we should tackle. Now would be the right time to bring a Russian peacekeeping contingent to the southeast”. Responding to questions from newsmen on whether the DNR could change its mind about independence, Pushilin said, “There’s no point talking about some ‘united Ukraine’ after so many deaths and destroyed lives in Donetsk, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, and other places in the DNR and LNR, and after the horrific events in Odessa. I don’t believe any promises made by P A Poroshenko. That’s nothing more than another populist statement made by Kiev”.

On Wednesday, ITAR-TASS reported that the LNR asked Russia and 14 other states to recognise its independence. A statement signed by LNR Supreme Soviet Chairman Aleksei Karyakin said, “The LNR Supreme Soviet, municipal and regional congresses of people’s deputies, and public unions address the Russian Federation and ask it to decide to recognise the LNR as a sovereign independent state. A session of the LNR Supreme Soviet approved this appeal”. A similar appeal went to Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.

On Wednesday, Denis Pushilin, the head of the DNR Supreme Soviet, told ITAR-TASS that there isn’t any confirmation of the arrest and removal of Slavyansk People’s Mayor Vyacheslav Ponomaryov. Earlier reports claimed that DNR Defence Minister Igor Strelkov ordered the arrest and dismissal of Ponomaryov. Pushilin told journalists in Moscow after meeting with the LDPR Gosduma faction, “When I crossed the border, I had no voice confirmation from Strelkov. I don’t rule out such changes, but I can’t confirm them, as I don’t rule out canards”.
