10 September 2014. A Picture IS Worth a Thousand Words… The Junta Defences of Mariupol

The above “Czech Hedgehogs” are part of the junta defences of Mariupol. They wouldn’t delay real forces for more than a couple of hours… that’s how long it’d take for the engineers come in and demine the area and the hedgehogs themselves are flimsy welded things easily crushed by an MBT. Pathetic ain’t it…

10 September 2014. NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS… Truce Holding Despite Major Breaks

00 DNR. Donetsk. Boeing crash site. 06.09.14

______________________________

The truce is holding as it benefits both sides (propaganda notwithstanding). The patriots are repairing infrastructure, bringing in supplies from Russia, and consolidating their hold on the Russian border. They’re also strengthening their position in Novoazovsk, which gives them an outlet on the sea. It allows the main elements in the VSN to rest… the only major locus of action is the Donetsk Airport, where American-led PMC mercenaries continue to hold out. This also allows reinforcements to come forward and more supplies to come from former Ukrainian Army stocks in Russia and in the LNR/DNR, and from supply columns bushwhacked by patriot forces. There are no reports of junta activity behind patriot lines, whereas patriot partizans are active and harassing the junta’s rear areas.

The junta forces simply had to have a hiatus to pull themselves together. They’re still holding more territory than they can defend… the line is too long. The junta is only raising understrength “battalions” that are closer in strength to reinforced companies. The constraint isn’t equipment… it’s trained officers. Many of the trained officer corps got shitcanned in the two purges… many of the rest rallied to Russia or to the patriot forces… that leaves untrained men in charge of the new units (or men suddenly jumped up two or three levels of command too quickly). The junta will attempt another treacherous sneak attack, but after the last “truce”, the patriots are watching the Uniate fascists like hawks. The junta has no more formed units that it can commit to battle. The new battalions are worthless, the Natsgadi are worse, and the oligarch battalions are cesspit sweepings (they’re not “battle-hardened troops” as one clueless American academic had it). You just don’t call up men and hand them avtomats… that’s what the junta’s been doing.

In short, the systemic dysfunctions of the junta are still there. In fact, the truce exacerbates them. This means that there won’t be a short war, and that means that junta areas will go through the winter without enough fuel for lighting and heat. Actually, I think that Poroshenko faces a coup… and in the very near term. I have no idea who might try it… the two main suspects are Kolomoisky and Yatsenyuk. The latter is particularly vile… don’t forget his mansion was only a few hundred metres away from that of Yanukovich. Too many people hate Kolomoisky, so much so that he’d need a “partner” to pull off a coup. Darlin’ Yuliya is nowhere to be found… and Tyagnibok is in Galicia, tending to his “redoubt position”.

I don’t know for how long this truce will hold… but it’ll only hold as long as it’s useful to both parties. No one knows how long it’ll hold… no one.

Russia Can Win the New Cold War

00 putin and obama on crimea. 05.09.14

_____________________________

This is it. We’ve entered a new era; we’re engaged in a New Cold War with the USA. Leading American politicians and political scientists said so in remarks published in numerous articles in various journals. Our officials still prefer to use more abstract expressions and definitions. Our Russian thirst for justice is still trying to prove something in the debate about what’s happening in the Ukraine. It’s clear that this New Cold War started because of our faith in the power of a simple handshake. If our leaders could shake hands, it means that we don’t have “black thoughts”, nor are we preparing any treacherous attacks on our opposite number. Yes, that’s what we thought. However, they shook our hand as though we were a defeated opponent, who had lost the previous Cold War. We face constantly deceiving partners… as they smiled their ever-present dazzling Hollywood smiles, the American leadership moved their military-political bloc ever eastwards, closer and closer to Russia’s borders.

This perplexed us… damn it, Russia and America were friends; we shared common democratic values. Truly, V V Putin suggested that Russia should join NATO. In return, we could only see American smiles against the background of an ideological and military offensive, as the Americans deployed more and more of their military bases closer and closer to our borders. Now, in hindsight, we understand that there was one goal… the control of our energy resources (how primitive, some would say). Yet, energy resources… oil, coal, gas… stand above all for those who thought of themselves as masters of the world after the collapse of the bipolar system. Russia, from their point of view, is just a big fat land full of resources that they had the “right” to seize. If the current Ukrainian government thinks of itself as the “master of the universe”, it’s sadly mistaken. Their country, and all events that now happen there, are nothing but bargaining chips in the global game of seizing Russian resources. There are some resources there too, for there’s a little shale gas in the Ukraine. For the sake of this, they kill the civilian population in Novorossiya. In Lugansk and Donetsk, Washington doesn’t deign to think of the civilian casualties, that’s just their bad luck… their ancestors should’ve picked a better place to live.

Well, OK, that was a digression. We’re talking about the USA declaring a New Cold War against Russia. In fact, we’re only talking of its announcement… it’s been going on for years. In the 20th century, Russia offered quite a correct approach to mutually beneficial cooperation… we’d reduce energy prices, and the West would give us technology in return. However, America gave Russia “the bird”. America denied us technology… then, it enticed our scientists. Do you know what percentage of American scientists received their education in the USA? Google it! You’ll find out that no more than 30 percent received their education in the USA. I asked myself a question… were we stupid all this time? Obviously, the answer is, “No, of course not”. We were working according to assumptions hammered into our heads during Gorbachyov’s perestroika. We proceeded from Academician Sakharov’s ideas of convergence, that a shared world would be so much better than a world divided into blocs.  However, foreign politicians used a different set of postulates. Remember the remarks from Hillary, who never shook off the definition as the “anti-Monica”, who said that Siberia should by rights belong to the whole world (that is, to America).

That is, they always saw Russia as a victim that they could snatch up and tear apart. V V Putin, as a pragmatist, did one very important thing. He tried, even at the cost of losses, to integrate our country into the structure of the world economy. One can see from Moscow’s very restrained sanctions against the West that he managed to make Europe react sharply to even slight dissatisfaction from Russia. Russia can impose other focused sanctions on the West. It’s clear that energy is our main trump card, but Russia can use many other sanctions, starting with food. This is where we begin to understand the true meaning of Putin’s actions, which some circles saw as deviating from the short-term interests of Russian business. Today, announcing retaliatory sanctions on certain sectors of economy, we’re striking telling blows on the political supremacy of the USA in Europe.

They announced a new Cold War on us. Excellent! However, the fact is that we’ve not yet started to exploit America’s vulnerabilities in this arena. We still have not used the so-called Helsinki group. Hey, Lyudmila Alekseyeva! If you remain silent about the events in Ferguson, all Russians will realise that you’re nothing but an abject hireling of the US State Department! Your excuses that you only deal with Russia sound empty; human rights have no national boundaries. We haven’t yet given serious funding to Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian Cooperation), which carries out the vitally important task of holding concerts, distributing materials about Russia, and encourages the study of the Russian language. Konstantin Kosachyov, the outside world needs to understand Russia’s innermost rationale. We need others to understand that the people of the western Donbass are Russians, who want to live according to Russian ways, but the Kiev government exterminates them today under the patronage of Western instructors. Our unions of journalists said nothing about the abuse of freedom of speech in Ferguson (not the Moscow head, Pavel Gusev, nor the all-Russian head, Vsevolod Bogdanov), nor did they comment on the fact that Obama did nothing to prevent the execution of James Foley. More recently, the detentions of political activists on Moscow’s Triumfalnaya Square, who had gotten media badges from these sorts, outraged these worthies .

In short, we have a lot in our arsenal in this newly declared Cold War on Russia. We have a lot… acquired either willy-nilly or by forethought… even though we haven’t used it yet. Those in Washington who declare a new Cold War don’t realise that we’ve learnt their modus operandi over a quarter of a century, and we’re not only on the same level as their State Department, we have an advantage. There are many specialists In Russia who understand how the USA does things. However, the USA cut funding for the study of Russia over the past two decades… guys, WE have the advantage!

This week, I returned from a holiday in Bulgaria, where the political leadership is ready to obey the EU in everything, but the ordinary people are learning the Russian language. They’re doing it themselves, not in school. Today, Washington dictates to their bought-and-paid-for élites. Nevertheless, we all know… to control the élite is one thing, and to control the people is a completely different thing. When the views of élite are in stark contrast with the mood of the people, the people overthrow the élite, the élite doesn’t overthrow the sentiments of the people. Many people throughout the world will shout, “The king is naked!”, as a result of America’s declaration of a new Cold War on Russia. Washington doesn’t understand that this heralds the end of its hegemony. It always happens like that. However, such an outcome depends on those people in Russia who can implement it…

10 September 2014. American Far Right Website Claims that Russian Sub Patrolled Undetected “For a Month” Near US Base

A Cabineteer said that this one is from 2012. No matter… it’s TRUE! In all particulars. It was an election year, and Cornyn hasn’t changed his spots, so, everything said is still legit. In fact, since Cornyn hasn’t changed his views in the face of reality, it means that it not only is still relevant, it gives all concerned a warning about Mr Cornyn… remember, he’s a Chicken Hawk and a gun nutter to boot… a coward who CHOSE not to serve. Great stuff, eh?

******

File this one under “Modern Fairy Tales”. Read this. It’s a howler! RT’s on the up and square… it shows that the Washington Free Beacon is a nasty-ass lying sack o’ shit. Note what’s claimed… a Russian nuclear sub was patrolling in the Gulf of Mexico undetected for more than a month. If no one detected it, well, how can we be sure that it was there for a month? It may have been there just for a day, or a week, or for six weeks… if no one detected it, how can we know how long that it was there? Besides, if the sub went undetected, how could we even know that this notional ship was even there? That’s Fallacy Number One.

Note what the clueless Texas Republican said:

It’s a confounding situation arising from a lack of leadership in our dealings with Moscow. While the president is touting our supposed “reset” in relations with Russia, Vladimir Putin is actively working against American interests, whether it’s in Syria or here in our own backyard.

No one has spoken of the reset for YEARS. I’ve not heard talk of it for at least two, if not three. In other words, Cornyn is appealing to clueless Yahoo Know Nothing baggers. It’s an election year, so, all sorts of rot gets spouted by all sorts of pols on both sides of the aisle. I’d observe that Mr Cornyn has no private means to find out how long the Russian sub was near the American coast. How does he know how long that it was there? Actually, I think that he got his intel from a Far Right navy officer who leaked classified dope… in other words, the sub wasn’t undetected, and the officer who spilt the beans is a criminal who belongs in the slam for leaking sensitive military intel to a loudmouthed pol. Cornyn belongs in the slam for publicising classified naval intel (for sub spottings are indeed such). SOP is NOT to admit that you’ve detected someone… that’s to not tip-off the other side that you know what they’re doing. So, this wasn’t only illegal, it was abysmally stupid… but then again, we’re talking of Tea Party Evangelical Republicans, aren’t we? That’s Fallacy Number Two.

To speak bluntly, American and Russian subs have operated near each other’s coasts for DECADES. Earth to baggers… this is nothing new. American subs operate near Polyarny… Russian subs operate near Kings Bay… both sides know it, both sides have patrols out in consequence, and both sides do their best to stay out of the other’s territorial waters. THIS IS SOP… THIS IS NAVAL DOCTRINE FOR BOTH SIDES… THIS IS AS OLD AS THE HILLS. Only a Far Right schmidiot publication like the Washington Free Beacon could fall for this one. That’s Fallacy Number Three!

The Ump cries, “Yer out!”… as the Mighty Cornyn heads for the showers, defeated yet again by stubborn facts. It certainly speaks to the veracity level of Matt Continetti (the editor of the Free Beacon), doesn’t it? He worked for Rich Lowry, which means that he has the same (non-existent) standards… do recall how Lowry claimed that the junta was winning the Ukrainian Civil War when Taruta was fleeing Mariupol in a helicopter and as the VSN was retaking much territory from the junta forces in the August Offensive. He’s also Bill Kristol’s son-in-law… we all know Kristol, don’t we? Shitbirds of a feather DO flock together. Continetti is another gutless yellow Chicken Hawk… that’s par for the course for the warmongering Far Right, isn’t it? He screams for war, yet he cowardly refused to serve, himself. Cornyn is another Gutless Coward in the mould of Richard Cheney… he refused to serve, too… but he screams for war and stumps for “gun rights” (he’s also corrupt in the usual Texas way, receiving 3 separate state and local government pensions in addition to his Senate salary). Great bunch, eh?

A note for Orthodox people… perspirin’ minds wanna know if Potapov, Paffso, and Webster (the Unholy Trinity of the District) have ties with this scabrous lot… I’d betcha that they are…
