I have it on very good authority that His Holiness the all-Russian patriarch laid down the Law on the OCA regarding Renovationism and lax morals (especially, the brewing homosexuality issue). His Beatitude agrees with HH… HH promised him every support. However, this means that they’re throwing down the gauntlet and it’s going to get ugly.

I entirely agree with you about most cops truly wishing to “protect and serve”… however…, I think that the country (it shows up in policing, amongst other places) is pretty screwed up when it comes to race. Basically, most of us expect the worst from our Black brethren, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Republicans might be happy to put all the people of colour on one end of the continent and cut them loose, but the problem isn’t going to go away until we talk more candidly about that legacy of slavery, plantation life, Jim Crow, etc. Each cop on the beat has to deal with this context as best he can, but it takes a real saint to be unaffected by the larger picture.

Most coppers are good guys… they’re doing an often-thankless job. By and large, cops are honest… unfortunately, violence is seeping through America, and the Republican Party is fostering it through extreme warmongering in foreign parts, excessive police force at home (militarisation of local cops), inordinate use of imprisonment (the USA is #1 in prisoners), and pandering to gun nutters. Libertarians are anarchists… anarchists aren’t bearded bomb-throwers in rags… they’re “respectable” banksters in suits! Anarchy is what the Republicans want… in such a system, even good men commit enormities. Ordinary people committed the Nazi war crimes… it CAN happen here, and let’s see that it doesn’t. Firstly, let’s support the good cops and stop them becoming “auxiliary soldiers”. If we don’t, our free society will become a Republican Anarchistic Libertarian Hell. It IS in our hands…

That’s the mantra of the Republican Party. Look at what it’s gotten America. We’re on the brink on an economic meltdown due to thirty years of coddling and feeding the Affluent Effluent. Anyone who advocates the GOP line opposes decency, humanity, morality, and justice. Keep that in mind as you hear their bleats about “Pro-Life”. They are “of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich”… first, last, and always. “Business will put things right”. Our Lord Christ hung on a cross due to the respectable of His day. I’d observe that the respectable of this day crucify Him anew… and “Christians” applaud it. That’s too much of a muchness and I need to find a place to get sick to get that out of my system. Evil grows in the shadow of the altar… DO bite the coin, for not everything is what it appears to be.
