Excommunicated Uncanonical Pseudo-Patriarch Denisenko of Self-Proclaimed Irregular “Kiev Patriarchate” Bestows False Award on Russophobe John McCain

F A Denisenko, the leader of the self-proclaimed uncanonical irregular “Patriarchate of Kiev and all the Ukraine (UPTs/KP)” awarded Russophobic US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) the “Order of the Holy Prince Vladimir I degree”. He presented the award to McCain in Washington “for his positive stance in support of Ukraine during the Euromaidan events and the Russian occupation of the Crimea (sic) and the Donbass (sic)”.  A “UPTs/KP” spokesman said that Denisenko “reminded Senator McCain about the debt of the Ukraine to the USA for its help in defending its independence (sic)”. Denisenko was in the US capital to attend a prayer breakfast organised by US President Barack Obama.  McCain is a known Russophobe; he advocates tougher sanctions against Russia and military assistance to the Ukraine. In March 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID added McCain to a list of nine officials and US Congressmen denied entry to Russia.

MID Big sez We Should Punish Those Involved in Torture at CIA Secret Prisons

On Friday, Konstantin Dolgov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) Human Rights Officer, spoke about CIA crimes on the British island of Diego Garcia, saying, “In recent days, Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to US Secretary of State Colin Powell, made known new testimonies of Britain’s participation in torture programs at CIA secret prisons outside the USA”. Dolgov pointed up that Wilkerson said US special services sources confirmed the information, including a CIA veteran who had been in the US global torture programme, saying, “Human rights activists say that Wilkerson’s statements offer us yet another confirmation of the fact that the British government covered up the truth about its role in CIA programmes, trying to avoid responsibility”. Earlier, Amnesty International noted that the British authorities soft-pedalled the case and they’d instructed the parliamentary committee on intelligence and security to investigate it, but preserved absolute freedom for them to hide the information. Wilkerson said that data on UK involvement in crude violations of human rights by the CIA disappeared from a recent report of the US Senate after British officials, with Home Secretary Theresa May on the list, held 24 rounds of consultations with the senators… authors of the document. Dolgov said, “We believe that attempts to withhold from the international community the gravest human rights violations, committed under the cover of the fight against terrorism, shed unfavourable light on both London and Washington, but they continue their blind-alley attempts to preach to the rest of the world how, in their opinion, everyone should respect human rights. We’re confident that to close the case means to bring the guilty to responsibility, but there’s still a long way to go”. Along with this, Dolgov said that the CIA promotes the perpetrators of torture; in Britain, Sir John Chilcot’s official inquiry is still some way off from publishing a report on how UK troops took part in the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

On Thursday, US Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said during a floor speech that Republicans in US Congress are aiming to slash Social Security disability benefits by 19 percent next year, saying, “I wanted to discuss an issue of very serious concern to tens of millions of Americans, and that is the Republican effort to cut social security disability insurance benefits”, accusing the Republicans of trying to “lay the groundwork for a 19 percent cut in disability benefits next year”. Sanders explained that the House of Representatives adopted a rule on the first day of the new Congress that’d restrict the President’s ability to transfer funds from Social Security’s retirement account to the disability fund, noting, “Mr President, the Republicans are manufacturing a crisis where none exists”.

Sanders pointed up that since the 1960s, US presidents from both parties repeatedly employed this process to affect funds transfer into the disability account, stating, “There are some people who, sadly, are trying to divide the senior population from the disability population”. However, Republicans repeatedly expressed their concerns that Obama was unwilling to reduce or cap mandatory entitlement programs, as spending on Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare may nearly double over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

On 25 January, media reports said that House Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price said it wasn’t wise to continue to take from the Social Security trust fund to prop up the disability fund. In his 2016 budget, US President Barack Obama said that he’d oppose any measures that slashed Social Security benefits for future generations or reduced basic benefits for current beneficiaries. On Monday, US President Barack Obama submitted a nearly 4 trillion USD (269 trillion Roubles. 25 trillion Renminbi. 248 trillion INR. 5.02 trillion CAD. 5.14 trillion AUD. 3.54 trillion Euros. 2.63 trillion UK Pounds) fiscal budget proposal to Congress; law mandates that he present such a budget annually. In response to Obama’s proposal, Congress will send its version of a budget to the White House, which the president then has to sign-off on.
