Today, the DNR Minoborony told us that the Victory Day Parade in Donetsk would use neutralised military equipment, which expresses our commitment to peace, saying, “We not only want to pay tribute to those who fought for our freedom, but we also want to show everyone that we’re for peace, not for war, in this year’s Victory Day Parade. Some tried to insinuate that by using heavy military equipment in the Victory Day Parade in Donetsk, we violated the Minsk Agreement. In particular, some in the OSCE mission said that. However, we neutralised the weapons on the equipment to show everyone that we want to hold a Victory Day parade dedicated to peace”.
Earlier today, DNR Deputy Defence Minister E А Basurin reported that at least 13 pieces of heavy military equipment would take part in the Victory Day parade in Donetsk, but that we’d neutralise all of it, and that all of it would return to its permanent bases by 10 May. For security reasons, the Minoborony declined to state how it’d neutralise the gear, but noted that it’s SOP for all military parades.
